"Well, it depends on what you mean by 'this way'," Bral responds. "If you mean this land, I set off from my master's place and ended up here in the mists. If you mean this town, I came here after escaping from Strahd with a group of others. We're trying to find someone... someone else, I mean."
Bral then will try to determined if he can trust the man before him.

Van Richten nods and from your Insight Check, you feel like you can trust him. "Strahd is a nasty fellow. He and I have tangled over cycles. Who are you trying to find? Is it someone Strahd is looking for? I might be able to help you."
Toy story
Amelia and Baudric with your Passive Perceptions, you see the Strahd dummy and Knight approach Robin and Keldon, both armed with silver needles.
Knight vs. Keldon - Attack: 8 Damage: 5 (necrotci) and 1 piercing Damage
Dummy Strahd vs. Robin - Attack: 18 Damage: 2 (necrotic) and 1 piercing Damage
Robin, I need a DC 12 Charisma Save or you will be cursed for 1 hour While cursed in this way, your speed is reduced by 10 feet, and it must roll a 1d4 and subtract the number rolled from each ability check or attack roll you make.
Robin uses... Momentary Stasis As an action, you can magically force a Large or smaller creature you can see within 60 feet of you to make a Constitution saving throw (DC: 15). Unless the saving throw is a success, the creature is encased in a field of magical energy until the end of your next turn or until the creature takes any damage. While encased in this way, the creature is incapacitated and has a speed of 0.
Bral nods his head, "Someone that Strahd seemingly obsesses over. A woman by the name of Tatyana, or her reincarnation at the least. We've been tasked with keeping her safe. Though, I'm not sure how we will do that if she doesn't remember her former life."

Van Richten bites his lip. "The cycle continues. Strahd is obsessed with claiming Tatyana and hates the fact that she chose his brother Sergei over him. He won't stop until he finds her. Every cycle, Tatyana is reincarnated into another person who has no idea that she's Tatyana until Strahd finds her. I know where this incarnation if Tatyana is located. She's right here in Valkalli and staying with a friend ... well I'll call him a fellow enemy of Strahd."

"So Sergei is Strahd's brother," Bral says thoughtfully. "We'd discovered the name, but hadn't realised who he was.
It's convenient that Tatyana just happens to be in the town that we decided to flee to from our last encounter with Strahd. Nevertheless, let's go find her."

A voice comes from the next room and an elven man steps forward. Bral, you get the sense that this man is like you or rather he's like Strahd - he's a vampire. Before you say anything, Van Richten steps forward. "Apologies, Jander. I don't mean to barge in, but we have a friend who might be able to help us."
The man addressed as Jander nods. "No worries, doctor." He turns to Bral and says," Jander Sunstar."
The woman stops her painting, not facing any of you. "Kind of hard to paint with you both chatting."

Upon sensing the true nature of the man before him, Bral unsheathes his sword and points it at the elven vampire.
"What is this?" he demands. He casts his eyes at the painting and then back at Jander. "That never happened, and I don't know how you are painting them if you've never even met them.
As for you, Van Richten, I thought you were leading me to Tatyana not to be ambushed."
