While her new acquaintances attempt to find their invisible meal, Halei wanders the room, poking into corners, looking into the booths and tables. The Inn is moderately crowded, in addition to the dwarves she sees that everyone there is having a good time. People are playing cards, laughing loudly; the room is full of merriment.
She is observing the light magical atmosphere of the inn, her face still drawn into a faint smile, when she notices the lone grimlock that sits sadly in the corner. He stares worriedly at the bunch of withered flowers he has grasped in his hands, his anxiety hangs around him like a fog; a stark contrast to the exuberance of the other guests.
She half wanted to join the other table and their card game, but instead quickly makes her way over to the grimlock and sits at his table, pulling her legs up to cross underneath her and brings her lute out once again to pick softly while she speaks. "Hey friend, you mind if I sit with you? I couldn't help but notice you looked down, could I ask what's on your mind if you don't mind sharing?"
Wildred says regarding his glasses"you know they normally only change overtime,I don't know what's gotten into them, something must have spooked them, they are rather unsettled maybe it's all the noise"he looks towards the room where the dwarven riot is going on.
Then Looking at the bent fork Wildred motions and takes the fork from his new intruiging Harengon associate.
"Here allow me" He pushes his glasses further up his nose pulls up both sleeves of his robes prepares himself quite dramatically biting his tounge softly .......AND!......bends the fork back in to place.
"I used to know a mending spell a long time ago, could probably relearn it if I found the time, but my philosophy is if you can complete a task without magic then your mind takes the upper hand, has made me awfull lazy in the past...... using magic that is"
Handing the fork back to Mr bugglesworth he says "I don't think you'd have got far eating stew with a fork anyhow, but mint I complement you on your strength, to bend a fork like that without knowing is no small feat, you must not know your own strength"
A centaur and sprite stand from their game at the table behind. As they walk past, the sprite speaks, "Might be time to retire for the evening". He winks and leaves with the centaur.
The room is now only Balliol, Claritas and Wildred at one table. Halei, and a very sad looking Grimlock, sit at another table, and a whole lot of dwarf ruckus is coming from the other room.
Well Wildred takes a fork and pokes it in a bowl and brings the fork to his mouth and says "most delicious mushroom I've ever tasted, must be a wild one I have heard they are the tastiest, and now I can attest to it marvelous,do excuse me for a moment."and then he gets up to go have a peek around the corner and see what all the ruckus is about.
And I do notice the stairs leading up on my left as I wonder through the corridor however I do want to stealthily go through the corridor so as to not alert the dwarves see if I can be nosey and get an idea of what they are talking about, see what all the fuss is about.
(I will assume you need a stealth roll if not just ignore it rolling just to keep the game flowing)
A stillness falls on the inn. The sweet aromas of food, drink and festivities are no longer filling your nostrils, instead you are overcome with the horrid stench of death and decay as it assaults your senses.
*claritas done skimming threw her book to intanced to notice much else looks up* "ahh ive caught a wiff of something quite familar, touble is afoot my camrades"
(ooc sorry was afk didnt mean for claritas not not awnser)
Balliol listens as At-your-service Wildred bends the fork back into shape and then hands it back. He grins. He hadn't been having problems with the fork, but with finding the stew! But there was no need to tell Mr. Spectacles that. And then the man found the stew! Mushroom stew would make a great compliment to Golden McIntosh Carrot Juice. It seems it might be a fine end to the evening!
Getting himself a bowl of the tantalizing stew, he is interrupted by a horrible stench. His nose twitched. His ears twitched - trying to find some other sense to use that wouldn't be overwhelmed by the odor. Such a smell could ruin even fine carrot juice. He tried to find the source of such a smell. Usually such a smell came from something equally awful. Zombies smelled horribly. Goblins never bathed. Even fermented potatoes smelled horribly. (Of all the roots to ferment into a beverage, why would anyone pick the blandest of them all? It made no sense and, in Bug's mind, it did make a terrible stench.) But somehow this didn't smell of vodka, or unwashed goblins, it smelled worse. He looked, smelled and listened around; senses alert for the source.
The light of the inn darkens, and the hue of everything around becomes almost monochrome grey and black.
Claritas looks up from her book and Balliol from his meal. Halei senses a change in her new friend. The Grimlock, wan and lonely moments earlier, now wolfish.
The sound of heavy footsteps breaks the silence—Thud, thud, thud. Wildred stares on, mouth agape and eyes wide, as a previously un-noticed goliath stands from the corner of the room and makes his way past him and the dwarven revellers and into the hallway, every step shuddering the building. The giant man stops, stands tall, his head only an inch from the ceiling. He opens his arms as if to receive divine healing from the gods. Bolts of lightning explode from his hands, filling the inn with a deafening crack and unveiling a most frightening scene—hideous and distorted creatures appearing all around the inn, materialising out of thin air.
Three dwarves charge from their party room, banding around the mystical goliath. Another two remain and begin battling with immediate foes.
“Are ya’ ready, Laddy!” cries one of the dwarves to Wildred as he leaps into action, running across the hallway past the goliath, sword held high above his head; he attacks an invader standing by the door to the room where Halei, Balliol and Claritas sit.
ooc: Roll for initiative and send your first action please. The campaign map is updated.
Halei shoots up from her chair in alarm, sending it backwards onto the ground at the sudden change in the grimlock. A quick glance around shows that she is backed into a corner with a creature dead ahead of her and the grimlock to her side, with tables also barricading her from each side.
"Guys, guys, what's this all about? We were having such a good time why the sudden mood change huh? We don't have to fight, I want to help you get back home, so why don't you help me out a little bit here?" Halei pleads with the grimlock while glancing around trying to plan an escape from the corner.
(Halei casts Charm Person on Grimlock. If successful I will attempt to persuade the Grimlock to block the other, if it fails I will crawl under the table to the left)
Balliol was surprised to see the Goliath stand up and march to the center hallway. Where had the creature come from? Why seemed a valid question as well, but probably something to consider later. He wasn't quite sure what these things were that had suddenly interrupted his fine evening but they certainly were hideous. His nose rarely lied about such things and they smelled foul. And they looked foul. And a group of solid dwarves seemed to indicate that they were worthy of attacking. It was time to stop contemplating and start doing. Ones actions, not ones thoughts, defined what a person truly was.
Bugs put his training from Sweetcress into action. Only a few feet in front of him was one of the vile creatures, but Claritas might be able to deal with that one. Instead of targeting that one he slid to his left and, drawing his shortsword, swung at the creature a few feet in that direction. Having made an attack with his monk's blade he followed it up with an unarmed strike.
(First attack at the one on his left. Assuming it remains alive the unarmed strike goes at the same one. If it s incapacitated he should be able to spin and do the unarmed strike on the one a little in front of his former position.)
Balliol bounds up from his stool, leaping to his left; he pokes a nearby threat in its stomach with his short sword (5 piercing damage). Before the blood pouring from its gut hits the ground, Balliol strikes again. Harnessing his understanding of Ki, he finishes the creature with a precision blow of force that snaps its neck (6 bludgeoning damage). You watch as the beast crumples in a heap onto the floor.
Halei weaves her charming magic on the Grimlock foe she was moments earlier consoling, and once again, she has found a new friend. Requesting his protection, he comes to her defence. He throws his wilted flowers to the ground. Before his opposition suspects a thing, he jumps the table, grabs the downward swinging club aimed at Halei's head, and swiftly returns it upon its original owner (for 5 bludgeoning damager and 2 piercing damage). Halei steps free from the entanglement and slips back to the room's northwest corner.
Wildred, in a frantic effort to protect his new dwarf friend, casts a fire bolt spell that barely meets its target (3 fire damage) and blasts a hole in the far south wall.
All around, you see the mayhem of dwarves smashing and slashing their foes, some wielding duel blades as Grimlock's continue their fierce attack.
Claritas calmly walks within 10 feet from the door, as far as she can go to get close to the Goliath, as he wields his strange lightning magic. She casts command calling out, "Speak!". The Goliath's eyes open wide as his trance is broken, and he falls to his knees. He glares at Claritas with fierce anger in his eyes, and in a language unknown, he calls back to her.
For Claritas eyes only...
The Goliath answers your "Command in Orcish. "Unseen!"
You look around and see the Grimlock's have gone, all but disappeared. So it seems until you notice the dwarves. Still fighting their now unseen enemy. Battling with a ferociousness, slashing and slicing the air as if flailing about to find what they can no longer see. Some dwarves seem to be pushing back to surround and protect the Goliath.
For Wildred's eyes only...
While wearing your glasses, you can see the Grimlock. They now look like ghostly apparitions but are still attacking. You do not have disadvantage on your next action/attack.
Please post your next actions. As you can no longer see the attacking Grimlock, your next attack rolls/actions are made with disadvantage.
Claritas used her interaction to arm herself with her mace and her bonus action is two-weapon fighting (which she needs two light melee weapons). She can’t change to her scalpel (dagger) this round. Her to hit roll is with disadvantage. Not that it matters with that damage roll :O
Halei watches the mayhem and her new friends as they battle the grimlocks, and panics a little when they suddenly disappear. She takes a few deep breaths and grabs at her hair, trying to calm the beating of her heart.
She climbs atop the table next to her and grasps her darts in her hand, but having never been in a fight before she is reluctant to engage in combat. She instead turns towards where she believes the grimlock that just attacked her may be.
"Hey dummy, you missed! Why are you attacking people for no reason, you know I was actually trying to help you and your friend, are you that dense? Who even uses clubs anymore isn't that a bit barbaric? I'm sure your mother is very proud" she mocks the grimlock, sticking her tongue out.
(Halei casts vicious mockery at grimlock that tried to attack her.)
Stalker Redbone, red hair tied out of the way, draws the two shortswords cross-sheathed across his back. He gets up from the dwarven table - fellows he had just met. "By the beards of my forefathers, can't a dwarf have a tankard in peace?" He moves to make sure the grimlock does not make off with Halei's tongue.
Bugs couldn't help but do a little bunny hop as he saw the grimlock crumple under his blows. Yes, his training had stood him in good stead again. But the harengon was not the only one engaged in battle and the magic of the goliath struck again. Suddenly the grimlocks around the building disappeared again. Again? Well, they had seemed to come from nowhere before and now went back to nowhere. Except that they didn't. It was clear from the actions of others that the Grimlocks were still here - just not visible.
His eyes widened a bit at the thought of invisible enemies. It didn't seem fair. It really didn't seem fair given that invisibility wouldn't even have hindered a grimlock. Just by looking at them (before they went *poof*!) it was easy to see that whatever eyes they had were sightless. Yet they had attacked as if nothing was wrong. He grimaced at the thought of such an enemy. Bugs stepped back against the wall so that nothing could attack him from behind. Keeping his sword in front of him for protection, he reached into his pocket and pulled out his signal whistle. He blew it for all he was worth. He had no idea if it would work, but it seemed likely that the creatures they were fighting had to have other senses guiding them - like sound. Perhaps a screaming loud whistle could blind them as badly as the invisibility was annoying Bugs.
(OOC: I don't think Bugs really used an action here - assuming blowing a whistle is just a bonus action. If so, he will hold his action - he will hold an attack - and attack with his short sword if anything seems to come within range. His bonus action is likely the whistle blowing and so there would presumably be no unarmed attack possible this way.)
Meanwhile, his nose twitching in classic rabbit fashion he attempted to smell if any of the horribly smelly things was approaching.
While her new acquaintances attempt to find their invisible meal, Halei wanders the room, poking into corners, looking into the booths and tables.
