Jedavii scratches his chin a bit. “Ooh. Hmm. It was really just a spur of the moment thing, I guess! I haven’t really performed anything before, now that I think about it. But I could give it a try, if you’d like! Maybe something with you leading?!”
Encouraged that it's safe, Canon also plunges his hand into the light. "Let's go meet up with the others."
Arriving at the café, Canon looks around appreciatively. He's never actually been in a coffee shop before, but he's familiar with the concept, having read many stories set in them, even if the characters all seem strangely out of place. He walks up to the counter and orders, "A single black coffee, please. Oh, and I think I'm supposed to show you this," he adds, presenting the parchment of riddles.

Performance Check: 15
At first, Jedavii's performance seems a bit dubious, as he tends to misremember lines and lacks the subtlety of a practiced actor. However, he spots a few prop swords on the table and winks to Marius. Each of the actors takes one and starts swinging toward the other, and once the adrenaline starts going, the rest of the performance falls into place. Soon, the two duelists are a blur, stopping only briefly to exchange lines.
"Come for the third, Jedavii! Pass with your best violence - I am afeard you make a wanton of me!"
"Say you so? C'mon!!"
The two characters come together once more, exchanging one more set of blows before both fall by the poisoned blade. Marius cuts things off there after a short dialogue, both to cool down from the fight and because Jedavii had a long part coming up that he had forgotten. Even still, it had been a respectable performance. Jedavii gives a bow and grins. "Whew. That was great. Thanks, Marius. You too, Hark - your support helps a lot! Let's head out, the others should be at the cafe now. Bye Quentilius!"
Jedavii collects the lanterns for himself, as well as for Robin and Canon. The trio head toward the cafe, where they reunite with their two friends.
"Hey Canon! Hey Robin! Good to see you two! Marius helped us get these, you can have one." He hands them each a lantern. "And if either of you want to join the drama guild, it's in the ampitheater. Now, what have we here? It's nice here in the cafe. Lively. Very nice."
As he leaves the amphitheater with his two new acquaintances, Hark chuckles at Jedavii's remark. "My support, eh? You can count on it any time you take the stage."

Upon returning to the Biblioplex and, more specifically, the area around the snarl, Hark becomes entranced by what's before him. As he stares into the glow, the young wizard mentally sifts through all that he's read about such tangles in the weave of magic. "Do we say snarl because that is truly what it is? Or do we call it that because we are too obtuse to unravel its mystery? Amazing!"
Canon, you experience the same sensation as Robin did. When you pull back your hand, there is a potion of healing in it.
The Biblioplex cafe is a modest space within this larger-than-life building. One wall of this area is covered with a mural made from a living tree’s roots, which move occasionally and make the entire place feel alive. The ceiling is covered in painted leaves, which change colors depending on the season thanks to a permanent illusion effect - they are currently a vibrant green. The magic also prompts painted squirrels to run up and down the mural’s roots, and painted birds to chirp among the leaves. Seated at small tables inside are about ten students. Behind the counter washing out some mugs is a gnomish woman dressed in a Strixhaven smock. As you all approach her, she looks up from her work and smiles.
"Well hey, it's about time you guys showed up! I thought we were short on some first years this morning... Anyway, I'm Aisla Fitzbottom, the manager here. Your scavenger hunt led you here, and that means you've got to help me! As you can see, I'm short staffed and this place is busy as all get-out today. If you do a good job, there's a prize in it for you!" Aisla says with a wink. "Get back here if you want to help! These sandwiches and baked gods aren't going to restock themselves!"
(Those of you who would like to help Aisla, please make a Dexterity check. You can roll here on the page or in the game log on our campaign page, so long as there is a record of it for me to reference.)
Marius likewise moves to help, but, more drained from his emotional performance than he realized, almost does more harm than good. He manages to stop himself short of that, and steps back around the counter, apologizing for not being able to help.
Jedavii eagerly steps in to help, but after a moment or two of working, he notices something - the goods are already pre-made, and thus he can't pour his love for cooking into this task. As a result, the gith's long years of experience in the kitchen go unused, and though he does his best it's not too good.

Canon is happy to help out as best he can.
[Dex: 4]
However the limited space behind the counter and cramped shelved of the stockroom aren’t really designed for someone his size, and after the third time he knocks a tray of baked goods over while trying to get out of someone else’s way, Aisla shoos him away.
Hark's desire to help far exceeds his ability to do so in an effective manner. "I'll leave the performing to Marius and Jedavii, and the restocking to Robin. Eesh."
You all do your best, but it's pretty clear that Robin has the smoothest go of it. The rest of you manage, but need some guidance from Aisla. Once the work is complete, the gnomish cafe manager addresses all of you.
"Well... you all did your best! I appreciate the help regardless. There were plenty of students who didn't even bother to help me, just presented their lists and moved on! I admire your gumption and willingness to aid others, even if it is with something that you do not consider your forte. As thanks, take a cup of coffee or tea and a sandwich or pastry on the house," Aisla offers with a smile. "However, it must be said, Robin, you really killed it in there. Great job! As a special token of my appreciation, I'd like you to give you something."
Aisla reaches under the counter and produces a small puzzle box bedecked in amber and covered in runic symbols. She offers it to Robin. "A Lorehold student from several years back gave that to me, something they acquired on an expedition into the chasm. You look like the sort that might appreciate this kind of thing. Thank you for your work! And all of you, good luck with the rest of your scavenger hunts; you're welcome back anytime!"

"Thank you." Robin says with obvious pleasure, as she accepts the item. She looks it over for a moment, obviously curious about it and quite happy with the gift. She gives a curtsy to the cafe owner, then tucks the item away. Looking to her felow students she raises an eyebrow in question. "We have two places left to go." She says. "For one I think some sort of garden or place of that sort, the other I am a little confused by. Maybe an alumni office or something..." She trails off obviously not quite certain. She shrugs. "Regardless, let's find a garden and see what we can learn there, we can discuss the last location options as we do so."
Hark's desire to help far exceeds his ability to do so in an effective manner. "I'll leave the performing to Marius and Jedavii, and the restocking to Robin. Eesh."
"Nah, Marius was the one great at performing. I can pretty much just swing the prop-sword around."
Jedavii smiles, glad that his work was still of use. "Thanks a bunch for letting us help out and get to know the place - I'm sure we'll all end up here sometime or another! I'll have a tea and a sandwich please, thank you~"
Once the group breaks for a quick snack, the gith pulls the list back out.
Clue 1. You’ll forget all about any trouble or plight when you step forward and are ensnarled in light.
Clue 2. Alumni commission works when they retire, seeking promising mages to inspire.
Clue 3. Each group deserves a free treat for their investment. Serve up this list and enjoy your refreshment.
Clue 4. These leafy beds aren’t always what they seem. Give them a pat and see what you glean.
Clue 5. Some stars are ancient, enduring, and bright. But others—maybe you!—are born on opening night.
"Professor Sharpbeak mentioned alumni were painted in the art gallery, right? Let's head there after the book gardens!"
"Lead the way, friends," calls out Hark as he stuffs himself with a plump, fruit-filled pastry.
As he walks along with the group, Hark cannot resist saying something to Robin about her newly-acquired puzzle box. "If it's not too much trouble, I'd love to know if you're able to make heads or tails of that thing. Not today, of course. Or next week for that matter. Whenever it's convenient! Puzzles. Riddles. They're itches that I have to scratch, I suppose."
Feeling like he's said far too much to someone he scarcely knows, Hark falls back and continues munching on his pastry.
Robin smiles at Hark. "You are interested in puzzles?" She asks as she falls back to walk next to him. "I like puzzles, they interest me, but they aren't exactly an itch for me." She shrugs. "I'll let you know when I have time to look at the thing. If I need help I know who to go to though." She gives him a friendly smile, then strides back up to take the lead to the book garden.
"Thank you for the coffee, and sorry about those owlbear claws", Canon says to Aisla as the group leaves.
On the walk to the garden, he falls into step with Jedavii, and says softly to the gith, "May I ask you something? I don't understand this second clue. These alumni were caught in commission of some crime, and put to death?"

Hark rises to his feet, applauding all the while. "Well done, Marius! Bravo!"
After taking hold of his hooded lantern, he muses aloud, "A bit of light for late-night studying perhaps."
"Jedavii, I'm happy to be your audience as well."
Encouraged that it's safe, Canon also plunges his hand into the light. "Let's go meet up with the others."

As he leaves the amphitheater with his two new acquaintances, Hark chuckles at Jedavii's remark. "My support, eh? You can count on it any time you take the stage."

Jedavii giggles. "Probably because it's being mean, keeping all its secrets to itself, so we snarl at it." He snarls at the Snarl.
