“It worked out okay,” Amber says with a slight smile.

“Oh, yes, professor! Where do undead fit into nature? What are elementals like? Do they get upset if you summon them? What mushrooms are here are super poisonous?”
Tulli’s eyes are shining as she finally thinks to dig a quill out of her bag.
"The first three questions we'll cover during this course. The last one isn't something I should really tell you. I wouldn't want to get into trouble with the deans."

Tulli doesn't bother to hide her disappointment. She makes a note that reads "Professor is a buzzkill. Look for poisonous 'shrooms later. Also, buy boot polish."
That done, Tulli briefly glances at her boots and frowns. Mentally she makes a note to check out the Firejolt Cafe after class.
Noey writes "elementals" in her notebook, and circles it. Then she draws a puffy cloud next to it. Then she shades it darker and puts rain coming out of it. Then she draws a forked lightning bolt.

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.

Amber keeps taking notes, but when the lecture gets boring she starts drawing little pink and blue unicorns in her notebook.
Rhydian shakes his head in amusement at Tulli's...enthusiasm.
"Is this a lecture/book class or is there a hands-on section as well?" he asks while very studiously not looking at Noey.
He snaps his fingers and adds, "Did you by chance hear about the mimic related excitement yesterday in the Biblioplex? The instructor that eventually arrived to intervene seemed to think it's behavior and appearance unusual, which is saying something for a mimic..."
Noey's pen stops moving at Rhydian's comment. A moment later it continues, but now she's writing something in the very angular Vedalken script. She does glance up at the dryad teacher when he mentions the mimic, however.

Amber glances at Rhydian, then at Noey, wondering if she’s picking up on some chemistry between them.
Noey, who has a high passive perception and is kinda tuned in to Amber, looks back and forth between her and Rhydian, then reaches out and smacks the boy upside the back of his head. “Behave,” she whispers.

Amber laughs and goes back to drawing unicorns.
Amber only noticed there was a certain chemistry between them. If they’ve already hooked up off-screen, she has no clue about that.
(I have a very clear understanding of what is going on with Noey, but I guess the other characters would not… so you’re just going to have to find out, I guess!) 😁

The teacher is looking at all of them. "Am I boring you?"

"Oh!" Noey sits up. "No, ma'am! Not at all. I was, um... as you might imagine, I am quite interested in elementals, air elementals, and djinn, and, well, I was raised in a Vedalken home... um, dwelling... err, place, so, it feels like part of my heritage that I am not connected to... not just, um, not just a magical creature."
