Escarin's breath catches in his throat for a moment. The suddenness of the arrival of the spirits causing him alarm rather than their nature, the bonds he forged gaining his arcane strength have lessened the fear the undead hold for him and although he respects their power he knows they present less danger to him than to most other living creatures. Despite all this his hand reaches to the rod sheathed at his hip.
"Nobody run, we can't survive this if we try and escape now."
His studies of the arcane have given him a great deal of knowledge about many things, and he reviews it all now, looking for something which could be of use.
These are the spirits of men who gave their pledge to perform some task. They failed in that pledge, and it is their doom to keep performing the same task over and over until they win their release and find true rest in death. They are neither good nor evil. In that regard, you are in luck
(History: 22 Insight when thay answer, if they do at all: 6)
Much like you, you remember the legend of Huma who was led to the Darken Wood by the white stag. You don't recall the undead in any story but that must be because they became trapped here because of the Cataclysm. There are talks, writing more accurately of a being called the Forest Master who rules the woods but he was a follower of Chislev and has not been seen since the Cataclysm.
Fistandantilus passed through here when he waged war on the dwarves during his rise to power. He tried to enter the woods but he was denied entry by some force. Nothing much is known about that.
Kinlin slowly rises to move to a tree side while observing elfish figure
You are surrounded and they are human. As you move to the trees one of them moves to intercept you. He stays a good length from you but it is making a point of showing you that you can't hide. Remember in your studies of the arcane that some undead can detect life.
Escarin steps forward a little "Lord of Spirits, why must you hunt the noble stag? And what power holds you here still, can you not let it go and find rest? The stag seems to be a magical beast and I do not believe you will catch it unless it wishes you to, do not spend eternity like this when you could be at peace."
Geoff replies, "We happened upon the white stag while travelling the country side and followed it here to the woods. We needed a place to rest for the evening so I hope we do not impose. Perhaps we could be of some assistance with anything?"

Alex
Seeing that they are surrounded by undead, "Friends, please remain calm. I believe they mean us no harm." Alex will then try to pick out the leader. "We are but humble travelers looking for save passage through your forest."
Xorn stands grabbing his shield and looks around breathing heavily through his large nostrils. Surveying the area he says “We are like you, on a warrior’s mission, though our goals are different. We must pass through these woods for speed. Our mission relies on it. ” He looks down to his axe in his other hand and wonders just how good his weapon and armor will serve him if this turns to a fight.
The leader of the spirit looks at you all, waiting for the questions to die down with the patient no living can muster.
He turns to Alex, "This is maybe the safest place on Krynn for now, if you respect it."
When Geoff speaks of the Stag you have a feeling the anticipation that permeates the air all of a sudden. Escarin now knows that it is hopeless to bargain with being so driven. They are cursed and that curse binds them more tightly than anything.
The warriors move as one toward Geoff, just one step not threatening but eager. "Where has it gone, tell us?"
“Last time we saw it, it was heading that direction “ says Shan quickly pointing in other direction that they saw it. “It was several hours ago though. “ she adds.
(OOC: Can anyone help backing my history to give her advantage in the inevitably deception roll that is going to get all of us killed? ;) )
Did my insight roll yield anything? I was basically trying to figure out a way to get them to move along without incident
Geoff says, "As my friend said, he are not hunters, but yes it went that way before we were forced to rest (he points where Shan points). If you hurry you may be able to catch up. I would hurry though."
As you all look you see that the spirit warriors start to fade in the direction Shan and Alex pointed. Only the leader stays for a bit longer.
"The guardians have been warned of your presence. They are coming to escort you to the Master. Don't resist."
He tips his head and leaves.
OOC: persuasion doesn't work on them. I tend to answer for one roll (talking about history) There is nothing much more to learn in that instance. Depending on the situation there might be more for each toll.

As Geoff moves to join Shan and Escarin one of the spirits advances. It is clearly a ranked warrior and stands taller than the others.
"We are bound to hunt for the White Stag until we catch it." The voice resonates in our head and chills your heart, "We will be free then."
"What is your purpose here ?" It asks the ache in your hearts becomes almost painful.
