While everyone continues to talk and conjecture, Haleigh gets off the platform and starts looking around the area, seeing if anything was left behind by the spectators or possibly any of their gear.

Sep smiles at the look of approval from Alcazar. He backs up and you see his eyes go glassy and he starts heaving his chest up and down, not for want of air or shortness of breath, but to bring forth something else from his mouth.
Sep opens his mouth and a 20 foot cone of fire covers the vacant gallows, aiming to set it alight. He exhales this draconic energy in the form of fire causing 9 fire damage. As he sets it afire he straightens his cloak and warms himself, humming a tune, gravelly as it may be.
As the flames erupt from Sep's mouth, Alcazar's eyebrows rise and he laughs, then claps loudly. "Bravo, my man! Quite the performance."
He watches as the flames grow around the gallows then moves back a little and, with a stream of unintelligible curses and shouts, launches flame after flame at each of the five grim contraptions. A light sweat can be seen glistening on his brow in the dim light, as he seems to take some delight in the elegance of his actions as much as the growing conflagration.
Performance (for launching the bolts stylishly): 23
Two bolts at each of the gallows...he wants only ask to remain: 12, 24, 29, 24.
"Whoah! Hey! Yowza!" Daugherty shouts, trying to keep it muffled, as he's suddenly dodging fiery phlegm and arrows! He dodges, ducks, dips, dives and dodges out of the way, off the platform and a safe distance away. Alrighty then, not a subtle group, he thinks.
"So.... that's done. Perhaps we should depart now before the fire draws a crowd?" Daugherty suggests. "Only thing a mob enjoys more than a good hanging is a good fire..."

Alcazar idly runs his tongue over the teeth in his mouth, looking for sharper ones and wondering if he has been turned into a vampire. Do I crave blood? He shrugs and stares in the direction of the villiage, wondering if the people came -- the same people who gawped while he was hanged -- whether he would want to exact revenge.
No. Not on them. They're victims like us. With a nod to Daugherty and an easy smile he turns to leave, "No sense in meeting anyone who gets curious". Launching one final volley of fire at the smouldering gallows, he starts walking away from the hill and circling the town, intending to approach it from a more discreet direction.
The gallows goes up easily, and soon it is a blazing inferno. The flames rise high, the smoke higher, and from the top of this hill it's likely very visible to anyone looking at it from this angle. Looking back to the city, it seems that there are actually a few similar columns of smoke rising in unusual places from within the walls. As the group moves down the hill towards the city, they notice something lying just off the side of the road. It was disguised before, from their position on top of the hill, but now it's very obvious. Nearly at the bottom of the hill, about halfway between it and the city, there is a discarded cart, meant to be pulled by hand. It is turned on its side, disgorging its items on the ground, and the glint of metal can be seen.

Alcazar pauses, looking back on the conflagration, then says quietly, almost inaudibly, "From the flames, we are reborn."
He watches for a moment, mesmerized by the sight and sound, before turning away and continuing down the path. As they come to the overturned cart his pace slows.
"Well, well, well, what do we have here?" he glances around at his companions and the surroundings before approaching the cart to see what it contains.
Perception: 27 (passive 15)
@DM: Is the town familiar to us? Would we know where the constabulary are? Or the judge? Do we remember living there?....and how big is it (very roughly)?
"Perhaps more truthfully 'By the noose, reawakened' but your phrasing will sound better when put to song," Daugherty replied. "But come, let us hurry away before we are sighted..."
Daugherty is much more concerned about any locals spying them than he is with the cart. Oh, he was curious about what fortune may have left for them but he was still worried that their luck was due to run out eventually and he preferred to not be caught by surprise when it did. As Alcazar and perhaps the others rummaged, Daugherty stood lookout and resisted temptation regarding digging into the goods. "If it's anything of value just reload the cart and we can take it with us somewhere a bit more secluded perhaps? Discretion and valor and all that, yes?"

Alcazar smiles at Daugherty's words, "Come now, my oh-so literal friend, did not the sight of the flames...kindle something in you as well? I felt a great relief: As sense that a change is coming."
(( now ))
"A good suggestion! If it is in working order, let's take it with us." He vainly pushes at the side of the overturned cart, causing it to move only slightly, then looks around at the others, "I am afraid that I usually leave most matters of physical labour to others." He stands straight as he watches on; he looks as healthy as the circumstances allow, but there seems little muscle bulk in evidence.
Haleigh heads down to help go through the cart so they can get going quickly as Daugherty mentioned. As she does, she tries to remember more of her past life and where she is. And does she even know of these people? She doubts it, she rarely left her families home. As the rest start looking around and feeling a bit nervous at being out in the open, "I..I do have a way to hide all of us right out in the open if need be - only thing is it takes 10 minutes to cast. Just so you all know." then she continues to go through the cart.
Alcazar positively beams at Haleigh's words, "You know...by concentrating so many miscreants and heretics in one place, I wonder if the most esteemed judge might have bit off a little more than he can chew, eh?" He looks at the others, trying to size them up, wondering if they plan to run off to an uncertain future or stay, and further the cause of the glorious revolution.
Sep reaches the cart and his hands instantly go to a spear lying in the cart. His hands caress it, he picks it up and twirls it around, handholds familiar to him, coming back. “Yes. I know this! Familiar to me.” He also finds a plain backpack lying in the cart that looks like it belongs to him, simple in design. He puts this on and holds his spear. He looks to the muscular barbarian, “We could probably turn that cart over, if you want, if you will help me.”
(Sep has guessed correctly. The cart contains all the party's previous items. You would have only fleeting knowledge of the city, though you would know if you dwelled in it before. Basically, what you remember from your own history is pretty much a bullet point list of your backstory, with a maximum of around five bullets. Remembering things about the city comes in the form of uses of your Knowledge from a Past Life ability, and sometimes checks that I might allow you to perform at certain points.)
Looking at the items that spill, you all recognize them as your own. Evidently there was some sort of interruption when they were carrying your stuff to be disposed of, sold, repurposed, or otherwise used, from the small cells you were kept in before your execution to the city. (They assumedly went up in the blaze too, sorry for not mentioning them before.) When you reach the cart, however, you look forward and begin to realize that you might have an inkling of an idea of what caused the cart to be abandoned. At the bottom of the hill is a graveyard, where the corpses of the city's poor, who cannot afford a nicer grave, take their final rests. Assumedly, this is where you would go after your execution, if things had not gone... awry. But evidently their rests were not final, because those shambling forms are most definitely not ordinary people. Many are too rotted to recognize as human, and some are missing limbs. Notably, there are no skeletal corpses walking about, only those with flesh still on their bones. Among those less rotted than the others, a scar similar to your own can be seen around the neck. Most of them are just shambling about at the moment, and don't seem to have noticed you.

Alcazar gathers his gear, carefully cleaning and examining each item, hoping that some new memory will be triggered by them. He spends a long time looking at a simple silver bracelet. He smiles as he puts it on his left wrist, then looks up. "I remember her face, but not her fate."
When they are done, his gaze moves down the hill to the wandering undead. He raises one eyebrow and turns to Daugherty, "Brothers in arms, perhaps?"
Haleigh grabs her quarterstaff and rubs her hand over it smiling. Then, all the sudden looking through the pile feverishly, she pops up with a old looking and very worn book in her hands and she actually squeals with delight. Holding the book, her features that have been sullen and sulking since they have come back, slowly come to life a bit as she holds the book, feeling stronger and a bit more herself.
She notices everyone looking at her with her outburst and she quickly tucks some of her hair behind her ear and doesn't meet their eyes.
