Firen dumps the water from his flask and fills 4 pints worth of the ale into it. "I'll take the lead - stay about 15' back and I'll quietly scout our path ahead. I've some experience in my thie...errr I mean scouting days back in the city. Anyone who feels they can keep it quiet is welcome to be up with me....I could use someone with better night eyes."
22 for stealth check....I will be taking lead without a torch.

The sound of water sloshing to the ground can be heard as Jamari also empties his waterskin. He looks between between Auria and the tie tiefling, Andcis he thought he heard her called before. Joining up with an angel and a devil, how the gods must laugh as they watch me.
"Thanks, Jack," he says, tossing the man the empty waterskin to be filled.
A city "scout," huh? Well, ironically, he's the watchmen in these parts, so I'll hold my peace "I'll take the lead with Firen, though I'll hang back a ways as I'm not as light-footed."
Jamari pulls a torch from his pack before shouldering it. Grabbing his spear he does his best to ignore the faint cries it's been making since just before hell broke loose outside. As usual, no one else seems to hear it. Speaking to the group he says "I'd keep a torch ready if you have a free hand. From what I've read, undead have remarkable night vision."
Jamari downs one of the left behind ales with a sigh, "I'm ready."
OOC: I'll be behind Firen with a torch and my spear keeping to whatever side Andcis isn't watching. Perception: 2
DM: Are we going with Jamari's spear having the warning features? I did it to reflect the fact that it's his pact blade and also imbued with a soul. It'll be trying to communicate with him regardless, just wondering if I'll be getting the initiative advantage and the "no-surprises" benefits.
Venvyre empties his waterskin also and asks Jack to fill it up, once he does, Venvyre will take a healthy swig of ale and then refill the skin afterwards. Venvyre will take up a position near the rear (2nd last?). "If we save the daughter, do we get more ale?"
Rethan follows Auria’s lead, dumping out his Waterskin then holding it out to be filled with ale. After getting it back, he brings it straight to his mouth and takes a long drink, a bit of ale spilling out the sides of his mouth, then holds it out to be refilled again. Wiping his mouth, he looks around again. This is a terrible plan. I mean, it’s not even really a “plan”. We’re just gonna go wander through the streets of a town infested with undead? But I guess if it gets us a ride out of here...
Jamari's eyes go dead and his face sags briefly when he caught the first half of Venvyre's question. Collecting himself he glances at Rethan, "Maybe we should leave you here with Jack. No offense, but you're head doesn't seem to be in this venture and I'm not sure a good song or bracing tale is going to stop a walking corpse." He laughs somewhat drunkenly at his own joke. Returning his eyes to Venvyre he says, "You got more to you than that dagger? I'm glad you're raring to go, but I'd advise a bit more firepower. I have an old crossbow I'd be willing to loan you." He motions to the light crossbow strapped to his pack.
Rethan glares at Jamari and flicks a finger at him, causing a shower of sparks to go off directly in front of the other man’s face. He gestures to his rapier. I can take care of myself. That doesnt mean I think going out there is a good idea.
"If you can safely return my daughter, I'll give what's left on the barrel. Now off you go, my daughter needs rescuing" as he lead all of you outside of the inn and barring the doors with the previous beam he was carrying.
"Don't come back until you find her."
Looking up you see an ominous looking full moon giving dim light on the devastated hamlet. You don't see any undead nearby but the stench of the blood and carcass still clings in the air.
Firen proceeds to guide the group on the alleys. After half an hour of walking, Jamari, who still holds a torch, and Firen stops the group from walking as they see 40 ft ahead of them a group of people. Firen recognizes the gaudy clothes two of them worn by Mr. and Mrs. Scrigglebottoms, but cannot fully discern who the other two. Both may have to take another look to be fully certain.
15 feet in front of them, the other four not knowing the reason why both of them stopped.
The other four sees to the immediate left of them, large stacks of crates blocking an alley and on the right, a wall stretching from where they started walking.
(Perception checks made on dim light have disadvantage but Jamari has a torch that gives bright light within 20 ft and dim light within another 20 ft)

Jamari turns and whispers quietly to Firen, "I got a bad feeling about that group, why are they still out here? Want to take a closer look? I've got your back."
OOC: If Firen goes for an ability check Jamari will help him, staying as far away from the suspect group as possible while still being able to give Firen the advantage on his dice roll. Otherwise he will stay back and take the dodge action.

Venvyre looks at Jamari, "I know some magic, but if you can spare that light crossbow and some bolts, I can put them to good use." Venvyre accepts Jamari's offer of the weapon.
As they spy the group of four approaching from 40 feet away, Venvyre peers closely at them, using his darkvision to see by the torches dim light limit (20 feet bright/20 feet dim).
Venvyre looks at Jamari, "I know some magic, but if you can spare that light crossbow and some bolts, I can put them to good use." Venvyre accepts Jamari's offer of the weapon.
Back in the tavern, Jamari handed over his crossbow and 20 bolts to the elf saying, "The bolts are yours, but I'll want the crossbow back once this is all over. It's not worth your life though, drop it and run if that what it takes to survive."

Upon inspection you see they have tattered clothes, smell of rotting flesh, and wounds that should have killed a normal person. They are definitely Zombies, roaming to find living beings to add to their horde. They doesn't seem to notice your group
(Your group is in a surprise round. Your group may use an action for ability check or attack them before initiative is rolled)
Auria now in the back making sure that the group is not flanked keeps a steady eye on the streets as the move as quietly as possible. So that the group can better see Auria has cast Light upon her shield granting bright light in a 20 ft. radius and 20 ft. beyond of dim light.
There is little talking as the party is moving through the empty streets which on the one hand Auria is thankful for as it means they are getting closer to their objective without the trouble that was likely awaiting them. Yet on the other hand the fact that she could smell the rotting corpses in the air, and not have the ability to act upon it frustrated her.
Seeing the group up ahead Auria focused hard to decern what might be awaiting them from this odd group out on the streets. Auria making sure her crossbow was ready to fire if it came to a fight.
Upon realizing the group ahead is, in fact, hostile, Jamari sets his torch on the ground. Pulling a flask of holy water from a pouch on his side, he casts protection from evil and good on Firen.
Auria quickly realizes this is a hostile so finally it is time to act. But being so far away what should she do in this situation. The party is still close together, so thinking quickly Auria casts Bless on herself, Jamari, and Firen.
A soft glow seems to emanate out from the three of them. The spell has taken effect.
You bless up to three creatures of your choice within range. Whenever a target makes an attack roll or a saving throw before the spell ends, the target can roll a d4 and add the number rolled to the attack roll or saving throw.

( You can only have 1 action on the surprise round. Either using search, or cast a spell. Since Light and Bless uses 1 action, I assumed you meant to cast Bless on your turn.)
