Star Metal Marauders- Highway Harvest

The figure pops out of the trap door rapidly and rather awkwardly, laying prostrate face down before you. The trap door snaps back shut

Bjorn glares suspiciously at the facedown figure and nudges it with his foot. "You're the distraction, eh? Unlucky sod. Let's seal off this exit quick-like."

Bjorn nudges the body of the goblin servant with his foot and can see the edge of some kind of canister, and some sparkling of a lit fuse. A few  seconds later a voice screams from under the trap door, “ Murder! Murder! I have been slain! Uuuughhh!” Along with some quiet snickering… soon voices from the gathered crowd repeat the words “ murder…someone has been murdered!”

"Are you kidding me?" Vars growls, glancing around. "They're trying to frame us now!" In a louder voice he says, "Hurry! Cut off this exit, don't let them escape!" He adds quickly, "Two of us can stay out here, the rest of us need to get back in there and block off all other routs of escape. At least one of them needs to be captured before the guards come in on us...hopefully Kutoti will back us up if things go south." He says the last bit in an undertone, sounding skeptical. "If the guards show up before these ruffians escape, try to point them in the right direction...away from us."

Then he rushes back to the door, hoping someone else follows him.

(OOC: The entrance to the secret passage was down in the basement right? The room with all the barrels. If so that's where Vars is heading, to try to block them in that room.) 

How long has that fuse got to go? Can I grab it and stick the fuse in my mouth?

 (Wouldn’t recommend attempting that…not that much fuse, just enough to see to foreshadow the impending event..)

A nearby bell begins to ring from one of the guard outposts near the bridge, you can assume there with be some guards forming up in response

sizzle, sizzle, sizzle….

the ember of the fuse enters the canister ( slow motion scene)

So far I have everyone on the porch, except for Vars who has rushed back into the house, heading for the basement stairs.

Frangipani thinks about explosions and immediately becomes a cat and dashes for the roof of the building next door.

 Your right near it, it is partially obscured by the goblin body on top of it. You have to choose between trying to be persuasive with the gathering crowd or try to spear the canister with your javelin

 frangipani-kitty makes it onto the low roof of the house next door, nonchalantly  cleaning her paws while watching the unfolding spectacle on the porch of the infernal.

 (Probably dash since he's in a hurry. That said, if he catches sight of the guy who made the cloud of fog, he's gonna use his bonus action to move hunters mark onto that guy.)

Gotcha. Vars makes it to the doorway to basement stairs room. He can’t see anything down the stairs as of yet.

Save the pedestrians in the crowd, as any good paladin would do.  
persuade them to move to a safe distance. 

With a sound of command and authority Sparhawk urges the looky loos and gossip mongers to move back. His urgent tone was very effective at convincing them, along with the dead goblin and the writhing tentacle from Gods know where…the crowd moves back, away and some people begin running….

KA-BOOOM!!!

Everyone except for Vars and Frangipani make a dexterity sav
