"Ah, wonderful!" Bjorn grins when seeing this caravan. These are his people, more or less. He spends most of the time the party is here, teaching children how to cheat at dice games.
“Shall we subtly ask these fine folk if anyone has seen our friends?” Sparhawk asks quietly. He keeps his eyes open for anyone who may be suspicious or watching them. In particular, similar in clothing to the bandits that attacked them at the wizards house. perception. 5
Sparhawk see many differently dressed folk here and is hard pressed to tell the difference between between peoples. It seems most in this lot are heading deep into the northlands, hoping to sell their furs and gear for a premium before the deep snows make the trip impossible.
"I think I'll let you continue with your betting a while longer before reavealing anything you don't already know about my past."Sorsha says with a slight grin, still resting in the cart with her eyes closed, Ruhm snoring at her side.
As they reach Blackstone’s crossing Sorsha sends out Ruhm again to make another scouting tour of the road ahead to Mirabar, looking for a bugbear. "Yes, go ahead Eberk, but keep it brief, we want to continue as soon as possible."She says with a nod to the dwarf.
Ruhm says “ Aye, Aye Captain” an transforms himself into a pelican before flying off over the roadway in ever expanding circles.
Eberk sets of into the market area, looking out for an suspicious activity that could be related to their current job.
Insight/Perception: 19
While checking out the market, Eberk doesn’t really see anything suspicious, most just mundane folks going about mundane lives. He does overhear a few bits of news and conversations about the goings on in the realm. A couple Wagon drivers from Neverwinter are discussing an incident that happened just prior to the High Harvestide festival in the small town of Longsaddle. It seems a group of youngins had discovered a lost temple underneath an abandoned well and had fought a mob of goblins and a bidderboo werewolf hiding out therein….a true miracle they survived. Of course the Harpell family has taken over that discovery and it even drew the attention of the Arcane tower.
another group of men chatting over a bowl of stew on what they will do with their share of the reward…this bit catches your attention. After a bit, they mention how they are not scared of dwarves named Weevil frosty pants…they let out a boisterous laugh.
towards the backside of the caravan you notice a short man in dark clothing, hood covering his face talking quietly with a taller man, of warrior stock. Perhaps a Northman by his build and dress. They are semi hidden in amongst the horses and the short fellow hands a letter to the larger man.
Sparhawk finds a family that doesn’t look well off (child, mother, etc. He gives the mother 50 silver pieces.
Sparhawk finds a small, poor family. 4 young children and haggard looking woman of indeterminate age. They are caring for the father who looks like he was grievously injured, laying in the back of their little wagon. The woman weeps at your kindness and bids the Gods bless you and lead you to glory. Taking a peek at her husband, it is clear he is not long for this world. His wound has become severely infected and blackened skin follows its path towards his heart.

Frangipani follows Sparhawk and peers in interest at the stricken man....
Sparhawks gives them his blessing and moves on with sadness and humility. Not wanting to make a big deal of this or let his party see what he did. He winks at Frangipani
Eberk returns to the group after a few minutes. “Captain, I have some information that may be of use. A couple men were speaking about Weevil, the man from one of the wanted posters seems to be a dwarf and they may be looking to capture him. Also, near the horses there was a shady exchange between a short man in dark, hooded clothing and a tall man, possibly a warrior from the North. They were speaking and exchanged a letter. Finally, A possible job near Longsaddle, a temple was found containing a group of goblins and a werewolf. The arcane tower and a family named the Harpell’s are involved now. If we get the chance, I’d like to check out that one in particular.”
Sorsha listens to Eberks report and nods. "Good job Eberk, Longsaddle is not so far away, maybe we can look into that when we finish this business with Bernard. We wouldn't want to cross paths with the Arcane Brotherhood though so we'll have to see what their interest in that temple is first. We'll have to find out more about this Weevil when we get to Mirabar too. Try to find Bjorn and ask if he can put his trickery to use by taking on the appearance of one of the two men you saw, and talk a bit to the other one, trying to find out what their shady dealings were all about, and if it could be done safely, also try to get his hands on that letter." She suggests to the dwarf.
She then takes out the wanted poster she snatched with her back in Luskan and rereads it.
“Let justice be done! The Marchion of Mirabar hereby offers 5,000 gold pieces for the capture of the brigand Worvil Forkbeard, known from Luskan to Mirabar as the Weevil. Last seen around the Mines of Mirabar, the Weevil is wanted for theft and murder. He is armed and dangerous. Deliver him to the Axe of Mirabar to receive payment.”

“Can do.” Eberk heads off into a caravan to find Bjorn.
(Once he finds Bjorn)
”Bjorn, the captain has shenanigans for you. Come with me.” Eberk starts heading toward the back of the caravan, keeping an eye out for either of the shady people.

Bjorn wanders through the area, looking for folk who match Eberk's description. (Investigation and Perception are both +1 for me, so whichever one is appropriate here:) 20 He's in no particular hurry, feeling that if someone were to leave the caravan, it would be fairly easy to spot them leaving, particularly if they're riding a horse.
Vars listens as Eberk tells Sorsha what he heard, "A job near longsaddle? Who did you hear that from? Perhaps I can get us some more information..." He looks to Sorsha, "If we are interested... No harm in just asking though, just to see if it would even be worthwhile." He shrugs, "I know we've got a lot on our plate right now, but I just figure why not give ourselves more choices? Never know, we might end up heading that way anyways."
"Go ahead Vars, don't get too personal with anyone here though, we don't want anyone to know what we're doing. We're leaving as soon as Bjorn is finished though."Sorsha says and nods to the ranger.
"Sounds good," Vars says, already walking towards wherever Eberk points him.
Approaching the wagon drivers, he says, "Hello, I may have heard that you know something of an issue with goblins and a werewolf at some temple near longsaddle? You see, my companions and I are in the business of dealing with such problems, so I'd be interested to hear any additional information you have about this."
Back at the wagon, "So....how do we capture a Bugbear?"... Sparhawk muses. "We can certainly hit him with subdual damage. We can tie him up, maybe the new net can hold him for a moment."..."But... it may be better simply to just take him out." Sparhawk looks at Sorsha, Eberk, and Frangipani. "Any ideas?"
"Generally, I agree with you Frangipani. However, this Bernard Bugbear may be taller and stronger than most." He smiles, "I may aim a bit lower" he points to his knees and waist.

Frangipani had no need for the furs and such, not really feeling the cold but she watched the childrens interactions intently......

Frangipani looks at the woman, the children and the man and then at the others and recalls the conversations they had shared on the road....
She leant over the sickly man and holding his wifes gaze licked his sweaty forehead before breathing out slowly into his left ear.
She then span about and followed Sparhawk, unsure as to why she had done so.....
