"Well, it certainly sounds interesting to us, and I dare say, different than we expected. We have a rather eclectic group that I feel would be qualified for such a mission." He looks at Lir and notices his panicky look. "I think I've heard that this area can be very dangerous for certain types of people, have you heard anything about that? Also of course, what would be our payment arrangement?"
He looks at Reginald, "Oh, before I forget, you seem like a knowledgeable fellow, do you know anything about (He whispers in his ear) a slavers group in the area?"
"Chult? Sounds like something in the South... not familiar with that name." Reginald takes a bite of bread and chews for a bit. "Definitely not Sword Coast or the northern part. Is it part of Calimshan?"
(Anyone else have questions for him? After we get the info we want and the terms of the agreement including money,.... we will ask if we can take a moment in private to discuss his generous offer)
Vars listens silently, trying to think of the best way to go about accepting this mission. It seems interesting, but they already had a lot on their plates as it was and this one didn't sound like a simple side journey. Perhaps it would be better to simply go after their job for Fist before pursuing this one...if there was time. His cave could wait, for now.
"Dietrich, I'm curious, we ran into some rather unpleasant men who were wearing this pin (he shows the spider pin) Do you know of this group?"
“ Aye, one of many of those sorts. They are one of the less groups, but no less dangerous to those unaware of there surroundings. Mostly they operate further south, in Waterdeep mainly. The big northmen are the ones to really look out for, they are nasty and those they take as slaves rarely last long.” he draws a different symbol on some parchment, a frostwyrm and a hammer. “ this is their flag and often they wear tattoos with variations of this symbol”
“ as for dangers in Chult, it is probably the most dangerous place I know of, for every type of person. There is ancient magic, lost gods, undead abominations and giant reptiles. Heck, even the plants will try to eat you.” He laughs a bit at the last remark
” the pay would be 50g per person per day, plus basic supplies. Any treasures or riches other than the Skull will be divided by shares as is the common law. The bounty on the skull will also be via shares of 1/3rd the total sale divided amongst you. 1/3 will go to expenses and to pay the men we will hire in Chult, with the final 1/3 going to myself through the “Baron logistics” shipping company.
"It sounds quite reasonable, and I like that you would be accompanying us if we need additional resources." He looks at his friends. "Would you be so kind as to give my crew a few minutes to discuss if they are interested?"
Reginald closes his eyes and has D'ortani (his familiar barn owl) follow Dietrich's group to listen in on their conversation... Paranoid, yes, but always better safe than sorry :)
I'll be able to see and hear them through D'ortani while the rest of the group makes a decision.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Arcana to see if Bjorn can recognize Reginald's sense projection, though it may be somewhat different from Sorsha's method: 10
If he can't tell what's up, he assumes the wizard is just lost in thought, and expresses his support for the plan. "But we'll have to travel and work quickly."
Otherwise he waits for Reginald to mention anything suspicious he might have seen or heard. Possibly delaying the vote with contradictions and nonsense until that happens.
Sparhawk nods his head, “Yes, he may not be trustworthy. I’m not sure any of our employers are. People who have fame and fortune possess two of the three curses that corrupt.”
(Would any of us happen to know anything about Geddarm?)
Bjorn is nodding along, apparently enthused about the idea of pulling off an impossible heist.

"As for slavers, if they are like the Calimshanites, we'd be best prepared for boarders while underway." Reginald murmurs back to Sparhawk.

Anyone who has had access to books. Reginald would know him. A famous Author.

(When timing is right)
”Well, we have a commitment to Fist and perhaps The wizard Irongrass. I’m thinking we can get that done in a week. Hummm
”Ok, what do you think my friends?” Sparhawk looks at them all. (Indicating all are included in this conversation)

(It’s a smart idea!)
Just because this guy is famous, doesn't mean he's trustworthy :D

(Dwar,is the smith Fist mentioned here or in the larger town?) also, where can we get the uncut gems valued if we cut them?
Sparhawk nods his head, “Yes, he may not be trustworthy. I’m not sure any of our employers are. People who have fame and fortune possess two of the three curses that corrupt.”
Lir shrugs his assent.
"Traveling to Chult to retrieve a sacred object to ...own. Feels vain.
"But you go, I go."
Sparhawk nods at Lir. Frangipani, Vars, Bjorn?
