Kyrsa smiles back at Mina, "Honestly, your life sounds much like mine has been these past few years since I left the military. Sure, my time as a soldier was exciting at first...until we actually went to war and I started to see the corruption of our higher-ups." She shakes her head, "There are very few things I truly miss about the military. My squad is one, but there's no getting them back. All I can really say is that I left for a reason. My life has been pretty simple since then, leaving me searching for something. I am glad to finally have found a place to offer my skills. It will be good to serve under a group that shares my concerns about the world, and with people who are fighting because they volunteered to." Her smile fades a little, "As opposed to fighting alongside recruits who had no choice in whether or not they risked their lives for the benefit of the nobility."
Her gaze shifts to Jhaarteal walking over to the dorms. She nods to Mina's statement and continues to walk with her, "Yes, hopefully he is going to straighten things out rather than make things worse. I've been acquainted with many different elves, and other races as well thanks to my military travels. However, I haven't met a sea elf before." Her smile returns, "I would love to hear about your home and your people if you are willing to tell. As for me, well, I am an Eladrin. I was born in the Feywild, but left after being recruited. I could have gone back, sometimes I wonder why I never did... The Feywild is filled with marvelous architecture, and our culture is ancient." She suddenly grins, almost embarrassed, "You've heard that we Eladrin can change our seasons correct? I am currently in my winter season, but perhaps a change is in order. I..." She looks down at her hands, "...perhaps you already knew that. But I found it a little awkward when I was around others who are incapable of changing with their emotions." A bittersweet memory of her first squad flits across her mind, "It gave one of my former comrades--a human--quite a fright the first time I changed seasons. He nearly pulled a crossbow on me before he realized who I was." She chuckles, "After that I've made sure to be up front about my ability. Many already know about it, but some don't."
Mina is really enjoying getting to know her fellow elf and she listens intently as she explains some of her military background, obvious that it pains her as well as brings her fond memories. Not wanting to push that, "You change with the seasons? I had no idea! That is so cool, I can't wait to see your changes!" she has delight written all over her face. "I have heard of the feywild, but don't know much about it. I am from a pretty secluded area."
"Haven't met a sea elf? Well, I guess most that I know tend to stick with our own kind so it isn't a surprise really. But man, I do miss being out to sea, I had so many sea creature friends and just the feeling of belonging within the commune."she looks to Kyra with delight in her eyes as she recalls her home. She smiles a warm smile, "And you're right, I am very much looking forward to working with a group that shares the same ideals. Exactly, fighting because they want to be here and help with the corruptness that has invaded the world."
As Breezy makes her way into the courtyard, they head over there, Mina is quite taken by the spunky little gnome. As she speaks to the challenge Mina turns to Kyra, "Shall we? Sounds fun!"
Akyan nods, then walks out to meet Tamryn, leaving the rapier behind. As he walks he thinks, "I suppose I should get this out of theway. Though I'm not sure if it will make him trust me more or less."
Just before they start, he says "I- uh... wanted to put something else out in the open." I don't use that rapier very often, it's really just a front. "I fight with these." He holds his hands out in front of him so both Tamryn and Jhaartael can see. Suddenly, two transparent green blades appear in his hands, both are about the length of a short sword and slightly curved. "If you are not comfortable sparing against these, I will go back and get my rapier."
When Jhaartael mentions the next session. Akyan nods, "Yes, I think that is enough for now. I would like to attend it as well." He looks to Tamryn, "This was a good idea, it's been a long time since I've sparred with anyone."
Once finished talking, he will follow Jhaartael to the courtyard.
Kyrsa smiles, "Perhaps I will don summer once we are out in the field. Now though, perhaps Spring is more fitting."
When they enter the courtyard, her expression grows a little more serious. She listens carefully as Breezy explains the mansion posture straightening as if receiving orders from a general. Once the gnome is finished speaking, she turns to Mina and nods, "Sure, this should make for some good practice."
Tamryn spars with Akyan and Jhaartael. When they leave for the next lesson, he joins them.
After listening to Breezy’s explanation of the mission, he asks, “Is that the extent of our intel for this mission? For instance, does the box we seek have any distinguishing characteristics? Do we know it’s size or weight? Do we know which floor it’s on? Is there more than one entrance or exit? How many windows does it have on each floor? And are the guards only inside the building, or are they patrolling the grounds as well?”
After listening to Tamryn, Akyan says, “She said that the box is located on the second floor. And said the guards are inside. However, I would also like to know how large this box is. Are we supposed to bring the whole box? Or just what is in it?”
Breezy nods, "Yes, thank you, I should have clarified, the objective, or the 'box' is black, and labelled 'Secret Documents' in gold lettering."She snorts, clearly having amused herself. "Bring the whole box, it is not large, nor heavy. As to the entrances, exits, windows and guard positions, that is something you will have to discover for yourselves, just as you would on an actual mission."
Assuming you accept the mission, Breezy begins the timer, and you pass through the portal. The exterior is represented by the following map, your portal opens behind the tree in the southwest corner (H20). The guard positioned by the front (North) door is stationary, the other two guards walk in a circular counterclockwise pattern around the building. The squares represent 5 feet each, and the guards have a walking speed of 30 feet, and when not doing anything else, they dash an additional 30 feet per round. There is one additional door on the south of the building. The other breaks in the wall represent second-story windows.
Seeing the back door to the facility in their range with the guard heading away from them, Mina asks, "Any of you good with locks? I'm assuming the door is locked. Let's see if we can get in that way." As she says this, she looks up to the 2nd story window, is it shut? How far do the branches from the nearby tree reach to the building? The ones that are close, do they look thick enough to hold a small sea elf? (Though from the picture it doesn't look like the branches are close enough, but she's looking just to be sure)
Akyan nods, “I can get it open, but we should wait to move until that guard,” he points to S17, “moves around that corner. At that point, the other guard will be coming around the other side. We will have a short time to get through, before he rounds the corner.”

The distance from the closest elf-supporting branch to the windowsill is 5-10 feet. It would requiring a standing long jump, and then an acrobatics roll to catch the windowsill and haul oneself up and in. The windows are shut; you cannot tell if they are latched from the inside.
Long Jump. When you make a long jump, you cover a number of feet up to your Strength score if you move at least 10 feet on foot immediately before the jump. When you make a standing long jump, you can leap only half that distance. Either way, each foot you clear on the jump costs a foot of movement.
"I might be able to try to open the window with my magic. We will still need someone to scale the wall, perhaps with a rope. I can cover them with an Illusion so that the guard may not notice. Otherwise, the door seems the obvious choice."
Jhaartael then rubs the gem in his ring and a golden mesh glows for an instant about him before disappearing.
"I may be able to reach that window without climbing," Kyrsa says. "If you have a spell that can get the window open, it would be a lot easier. If not, I can still try it, though it would be nice to know if anyone is up there before blindly taking the leap--or step in my case."
"That would be good," Akyan replies while still watching the guard. "I'll still go for the door, If I can get it unlocked, I can take note of the guards downstairs." He looks back at the group, "If you allow it, I can telepathically communicate with two of you, Kyrsa being one. She can then tell me the locations of the guards upstairs, without alerting anyone with her voice, which I can then relay to one of you." He looks over each of you as he says this, clearly not wanting to intrude on anyone who is unwilling, "This way we can all know what's going on, even if we split into three groups." He turns back to watch the guard, readying himself to sprint over to the door.
Jhaartael says something quietly and gestures with his right hand at the window. There is a faint golden glimmer just inside the window as he attempts to control the Weave to open the window from the inside.
As Mina checks the branch from the ground, she decides it may be doable, but from a standing still position, not an easy one by a long shot. As Kyra speaks, Mina looks at her, "How can you reach that window without climbing?! And if so, think you could throw me a rope? Then I could join you up there."
She watches in silence as Jhaartael produces a spectral hand out of thin air and watches with anticipation to see if he can open the window or not.

Tamryn rummages in his backpack, quickly pulling out a grappling hook and a length of rope. He swings the hook around on the length of rope then launches it toward the roof.
