Thank you for running this campaign Ashen_Age! Here's my application:
Character Name: Rhurker
Class: Monk
Planned Sub-Class: Way of the D. Master
Race: Firbolg
Background: Far Traveler
Backstory: Deep in the Earthspur Mountains lays the Monastery of the Yellow Rose. There, the Disciples of St. Sollars the Twice-Martyred practiced virtue through lives steeped in both beauty and hard labor, thriving in their harsh environment. Taken in as a child, Rhurker quickly adapted to the expectations of his Order and embodied its teachings. Though remote, the reality of the 'Death Curse' eventually reached the Disciples, standing as an affront to all they revered. Seeking ascension in his Order, Rhurker dutifully took on his Grand Master's mandate: Venture forth into Faerûn, seek out its source, and end this abomination.
I'm loving the submissions so far! We're about halfway through recruitment now. As a reminder, please get your application posted by tomorrow (Monday). I'll contact the selected players on Tuesday.
Planned Sub-Class: Armourer. If Rogue likely Theif or scout.
Race: V.Human
Background: TBD. I need to figure out which I own, but most likely a modified far travler. I do not own the AP specific ones , but they both also kind of fit and would be apt.
Backstory: Roll Ashtear grew up adopted by a kindly Gnome magic user. She was taught a lot but couldn't interact with magic, but she made herself tools to interact with it. There was a monster outbreak on the village and she helped fight. After the kingdom's knights came looking for the Gnome who had vanished. She spent a year waiting but decided to go try to find her father. Hints left behind imply he was researching into Chult. So she joined up. Find traces of her father, and help folks seems a good day.
Armorer can be built either to help the front line, or can be a ranged damage dealer and back line protector. Off hand will be starting out using the crossbow, and daggers. But later will use gauntlet and crossbow or lighting blaster and a knife. Depending on how the game and story goes. Effectively she's a gap filler style. Tinkerer engineering gal. She can pretty easily be tool user. If crafting is available, I would look into a Pistol haha but dobutful. Mostly wanted a one handed ranged weapon artificers are proficient with.
Note on myself. I work 7 days a week currnetly and post typically after. My timezone is west coast of US. I tend to try and post before work or after work, depending on game progress.
Character Name: Oranir Sumarath Class: Wizard Planned Sub-Class: School of Necromancy Race: High Elf (Sun Elf) Background: Sage
Backstory: After finishing his basic wizardry studies in Myth Drannor, Oranir had an unusual choice among the available mentors that would carry him to higher knowledge—the baelnorn Quaryl Tellasarim. Shifting his interests towards the mysteries tying the Weave and life itself went on smoothly, until one day Quaryl detected the sudden change spread through all Faerûn. Deeming this rumored ‘Death Curse’ the perfect opportunity for his pupil to grow and prove himself, Oranir was sent far to the west to investigate.
((Edit: Re-read and just noticed the 100 word limit 😂))
Part of a traditional sun elf family with a long history tied to the late realm of Aryvandaar—and less shining parts of that history tying the family to the fey'ri—when Oranir showed a shred of magical aptitude in his youth, he was quickly ushered into proper training. Every area of magical knowledge sparked Oranir's interest, and he mastered every school he could in as little time as possible, a dedication that kept him away from the usual social life around the students in the rebuilding Myth Drannor. Spellcraft came quickly to him, and soon enough (by elven standards) he was a proper and capable wizard and allowed to choose among available masters which would help guide his path to greater magical knowledge. His family was ever infamous for their 'less than conventional' choices in exploring forbidden powers and knowledge, and Oranir did no different, choosing the baelnorn Quaryl Tellasarim as his mentor. Studying under an ancient undead mind definitely changed the young wizard, and his priorities shifted from the world around him to the ages ahead, studying the mysteries tying the Weave and life itself. One day his master identified a sudden shift in the magical energies covering all of Faerûn and even himself, word start previously resurrected individuals were withering and dying to an unidentified disease, Quaryl himself had felt a changing discomfort and was unsure of just how his unique condition would be affected by this. After some study and scrying, Quaryl decided the investigation needed would be the perfect opportunity for his student to grow and prove himself, so Oranir was sent far to the west to investigate rumors on this 'Death Curse'.
Hat in ring and all that... First choice of a few options.
Character Name: Laderan Waterdown Class: Warlock Planned Sub-Class: Genie Race: Harengon Background: Criminal Backstory: (100 word limit is hard)
Laderan absently polished the ring as he reflected on the recent bad luck it had brought him. First, he had stepped on it and hurt his foot, the genie that appeared offered him power for his service but had twisted his words and sent him here leading a band of vagrant thieves, then he had been ousted as the supposed ring leader and thrown in the city dungeon. Now he had given one night to ponder another bargain. Join an expedition to Chult and earn his freedom or die trying, or swing from a gibbet.
Character Name: Braci Grey Class: Monk Planned Sub-Class: Way of Mercy Race: Half-elf Background: Acolyte Backstory:
A peculiar child, Braci enjoyed watching animals die. Growing older he worked to prevent unnatural deaths as he learned the intricacies of the body. Ultimately, this led him to a monastery of Kelemvor where he would dedicate his life. Finishing his training he took his skills to the people where he helped those he could. Those who could not be saved he ushed to the afterlife. During these travels he discovered the Death Curse. Determined to solve this perversion of death he set out on crusade to purge the land of this abomination and prove himself to his God.

Hello, I've been running games for a will so it would be a nice change to participate in one as a player if possible (no problems with roll20 and discord)
Character Name: Fildo Copperkettle
Class: Rogue
Planned sub-class: Mastermind
Race: Halfling - Lightfoot
Background: Anthropologist
Backstory: Fildo has always been a curious one, but sadly his family wasn't very fond of books or studying. When Fildo started making money he spent it on whatever book he could find to quench his thirst of knowledge. At some point he learned that halflings were known to be very Lucky; he looked around him and laughed - "Not me I guess"...after saying that and gathering strength to continue working on the old family's farm he noticed a small note on the ground: "Syndra Silvane - hiring adventurers for expedition in Chult" - Two words stood out to Fildo : Adventurers - Chult..."Well how about that."said Fildo
backstory: Clovis was surrounded by death at an early age lossing his parents to a crime gang in the city, after a less than pleasant upbringing by his uncle. One day as he slept he saw a jackal with glowing warm red eyes in his dreams it spoke to him, it told him that he was his and would guide his hand for years to come and now gives him the task to answer this call.
Warlocks seem particularly interested in Chult, as though their patrons are being drawn (lured?) to the dark powers seething in the jungle's depths...
I have begun my review of applications. If you have amended/altered your application since you posted it please send me a DM so I can be sure I'm evaluating the most recent info. Cheers!
Some say Marcel Moreau kidnapped Loriath of Sylandil. Others say she went willingly. What's certain is she was banished from Evermeet.
Caeryndan's father abandoned her and took no interest in his son. Caeryndan (alias "Marco") hadn't heard word from his mother in many years -- until recently.
Upon receiving news of her mysterious affliction, he rushed to her bedside. "There's little time," she pleaded. "Find the source and rid Toril of this terrible plague."
Unaccustomed to selflessness, Caeryndan is torn. "Everything dies," he tells himself. "Sentimentality is weakness." And yet, he grieves for his mother.
Milk left his tribe when he came of age like many before him in search of knowledge. Milk saught knowledge from experience rather than from books and often aided towns and cities he traveled to, typically enlisting in city guards when able before eventually moving on to follow his ever-changing curiosity. Recently, Milk had been working alongside a mercenary group in Baldur's Gate but has found that itch again to leave again in search of new adventures.

Thank you to everyone who applied. I had a terrible time narrowing down the list, and decided on six players. The selected players have been notified.
