This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Crulsits addresses the assembled crowd, "I trust that the good doctor knows what he was doing in adding you all to the expedition; I apologize again for my earlier rudeness. In order to make it up to you, I'd like to buy you all dinner here tonight."
He immediately goes to the barman and pointing to the large group of expeditioners, asks for their finest fare, while also requesting a group discount for the meal (after all, he's bringing in a lot of business). He then returns to the group and turns on the charm, learning the names and specialties of the expeditioners.
Liahana pauses collecting her parchments, sniffing the aroma of delicious food wafting from the kitchen. "Well, I suppose there's time for a brief meal."
She claims a seat at the table. "So Master Crulsits. What has led you to invest in an expedition into the Desert? Is there something in particular you're interested in?"
Crulsits turns to Liahana. "Well my dear, to tell you the truth, my family, the Kobblepotters, are looking for opportunities to invest our wealth and contribute to our fair city. I am spearheading this particular project. As you know, I'm sure, Professor Van Smoot finds the likelihood of finding great works of cultural, historical, and magical importance very high and my family wishes to play a critical role in the expedition's success. It brings us great pleasure to invest in our home. My job here is to see to it that the expedition runs smoothly, under budget, and profitably. I have no doubt that we will find many potential opportunities for establishing trade and equitable relations with those we encounter on our journey as well as resources that we might successfully use to help other achieve their potential. Now, my dear, would you like some tea?"
As Crulsits says this, you suddenly feel a presence hovering over your shoulder and turn to see Nubbins, the decripit old dark elf, shakily but hopefully holding a saucer with a cup of hot tea on it about 3 inches from your head at your eyeline.
"Ah, yes, that would be, uh, wonderful." Liahana smiles uncertainly at the quivering cup of hot liquid teetering dangerously close to her face. "Well, you've certainly chosen well. Professor Von Smoot is one of the greatest minds of our time. If anyone is capable of unlocking the mysteries of the Desert, it is surely him!"
