Out of nowhere Fianna was falling, crashing right off the flatboat and towards the water. She would have been swimming for her life, or worse, but for Krastus! Suddenly, just before she was overboard, then Dragonborn grabs her by the arm, just above the elbow. His grip was crushing, surely it'll leave a bruise she half thinks in the middle of it all, but he holds her upright and gives her a chance to regain her footing...
A chance does not equal success. Before she could steady herself, Fianna suddenly finds the boat heaving up beneath her feet and once again throwing her off balance. Fianna falls flat onto the deck of the boat, rolling towards the edge spending more focus on trying to figure out what is happening than she does in stopping herself.

As Elthias easily stays on his feet the first time the boat is knocked about, gripping his rapier as he prepares for a fight with whatever has is ramming in the boat. The second time he barley manages to stay on his feet, almost falling before managing to lock his legs at the last second.
As he sees two of the group fall he moves towards them, drawing his rapier and looking to attack the creature. "Help get them to their feet!" He calls out, moving to offer his hand to whoever is closer between Krastus and Fianna.
Ben, Sky, and Lu remain upright as the ferryman gets knocked into the murky water with a scream before the rest of the party is knocked prone! Thrashing in the water attempting to get back onto the flatboat the ferryman lets out a blood-curdling scream before being jerked beneath the green scum disappearing under water!
"No," Lu grasps letting their knocked arrow fly into the deep! "Form up! Sky! Krastus there," they add pointing to the tortle standing on an island within the marsh about 70ft away.
The figure is waving their arms as if calling to them for safety!
Bonivere uses her movement to regain her footing and stand up. She hears Elthias' call to help the others up. She stows her sword and shield in order to better help the others to their feet, trying to stay upright herself.

Ben looks where Lu is pointing at the waving tortle.
(Does Ben notice anything beyond just a wave to come to safety - eg this tortle isn't casting a spell to control whatever's in the water: Arcana if needed: 18 )
"We can't swim there," Ben says. "We've got to get the boat to ground."
He then looks for Chronos and thinks to the owl "Keep an eye out for the creature in the water. Fly over but stay out of reach and let me know where it is."
Chronos Perception: 12
Ben glances at one of the poles and for a second thinks about poling the boat to shore, but given the circumstances that needs someone with more strength than he has. Instead he looks out into the water, looking for ripples near where the ferryman was pulled under.
Hoping to cause the creature to let go its grip or just to encourage it to leave completely, Ben holds out a free hand, cupping his fingers and then says "fajrobrilo."
A small ball of flame appears in his hand. Ben hurls it immediately into the water near where the creature last was.
Casts Fire Bolt - Attack: 7 Damage: 6 (at disadvantage since he can't actually see the creature)
Elthias draws his own blade and shield, quickly getting into a stance as he looks around for whatever has been attacking them. Not wanting to waste an opportunity to attack, he holds his position and waits for a chance to strike. "Someone get on that pole and get us to shore. I'll fight this thing off."
Elthias is going to hold his action until the thing attacking them is within clear view.

Krastus fumbles with the pole and pushes, but unuse to how the flatboat moves the barbarian isn't used to the task and makes little headway as Sky moves the pole and falters on a root.
"Together," Lu calls out to Sky and Krastus. "Fianna and Ben anything to get us moving," the Dusk Ranger asks losing another arrow into the water where Fianna struck the beast, and it's black-horned and scaled back comes into view as a low roar gurgles up from the murky deep!

Ben quickly mentally scans through the pages of books he's read, though his interests skewed more to the arcane, Bonivere would occasionally push other topics his way. This creature sounds vaguely familiar but not common.
Nature: 21
He then looks around. His magic didn't lend itself to boat propulsion. If he could see the creature he could try giving it glimpses of its future death or the aging world. But his grasp of the nature of time was still not good enough to control movement.
Instead he resorts to the mundane. He watches the movement of the boat through the mangrove roots and branches, leaping with a dagger to cut grasping limbs away to help the boat move more smoothly and quickly.
Action: Help Krastus as he poles the boat forward.
"No. I have never hunted in a swamp before. Most of my hunts were in forests or at times in towns when creatures infiltrated." Elthias responds as he waits for a chance to strike at the monster, his eyes glued to where it had been.
