So, you all head to Administration to get your Welcome packs from Sor'kur, the thri-kreen receptionist. Sor’kur has white chitin mottled with patches of brilliant blue, and matching blue eyes.
Each Welcome pack includes the following gear:
A red-level cadet uniform (plus spare), and a toiletry bag
A 50 gp requisition voucher to spend at the academy stores
A blue-level security helmet for visiting the Sky Dock during orientation
Spelljammer Academy has a five-tier security system. Each tier is represented by a different color: green for visitors, red for cadets, blue for sailors, purple for officers, and gold for bridge personnel. Academy personnel wear uniforms in the color of their security access level. To access higher security levels, academy cadets and personnel must request a security helmet: a rigid leather cap dyed in the appropriate color. Security guards refuse access to anyone not wearing the appropriate attire.
"This is definitely... a look," Danirith observes. The red uniform has some style, but the blue security helmet doesn't seem especially flattering. "Do you have one of these with horn-holes?"
"I think it's pretty becoming." Ivor, upon receiving the welcome package, has since donned the helmet, and tied the sleeves of one of the uniforms around his neck like some sort of cape. "Before we get on with the rest of the list, we should change into our uniforms proper."

Beaivi agrees with Ivor, "Yeah, it seems they only let us walk around while wearing these but I guess the helmet we only need when they show us the spelljammer. I'm really looking forward to that, though, there is no way I'll be wearing that all the time." Then, he runs off to a lavatory to change into the uniform.
On his return, still pulling the uniform into place here and there, he comments, "Next stop are quarters according to the list but it looks like the stores are on the way. Shall we have a look what we can get there for our voucher?"
Khilos looks at the uniform, "I am going to look like a holiday tree in thissss" he said holding the red against his green lizard scales. "But duty callssss" he heads to the lavatory as well and returns in the red uniform. "I love ssspending money, I'll go where the group decides"
TL;DR Gyronimus equips the uniform and helmet. He will head towards quarters once everyone is ready.
Gyronimus Jawn wastes no time on modesty and changes clothes right there, bundling his old clothes into a tight ball and stuffing them and the spare uniform into his backpack.
He stretches cautiously and smiles at its flexibility. He takes time to admire the embroidered sigils of the academy on the left shoulder, their class number on his right, and his name above the left breast.
Gyronimus checks his helmet designed for dragonborn cadets. Several names in different styles are scratched into the inside rim, previous owners of the helm. With a chuckle, Gyronimus uses a claw and carves "JAWN" next to the last name.
Suited up and smiling, Gyronimus turns to Khilos. "That's the festive spirit, Mister Khilos! Mister Flash is right. Let's carry on down the list in order once everyone is ready."
"Sure, sure, Flash, we can save the voucher. All I'm saying is to have a look to the stores and see what's there. At least then we will know later what might be available when we find we need something specific."
"Aye, I'm in agreeance wit' ya, Beavi." Ivor scratches his thick beard, walking back from the lavatory after changing into the uniform. His backpack, shield, and hammer holsters are slung over his shoulder casually. "I 'spect we could just take a peek, while walking by. Maybe we don't go browsing the aisles just yet, but it wouldn't hurt to see what the stores're like."
(ooc: Cadet quarters, but since the stores are on their way there I'd like to just look at what's available. Almost like window shopping.)

When you get to the Stores, you are greeted by the autognome quartermaster Mister Blip sitting behind a barred window allocating supplies. Another cadet finishes his business and leaves as you approach. Mister Blip's eyes go from a light pink to a bright green color as he asks, "And how may I help you new recruits?"
Upon arrival, each of you is issued a simple or martial weapon of your choice. Also, you are able to spend your 50 gp requisition voucher on any equipment listed in chapter five of the Players' Handbook, but be aware, no change will be given back; so, if you don't spend the full 50 gp, anything left over will be lost.
Khilos smiles, he loved getting something for nothing, and this was a shopping spree. "I'll have one of those" Khilos began pointing out the various materials he wanted with his voucher, a new chest, lantern, shovel, grappling hook, bells, whistles, two new belt pouches, he was like a kid in a candy store when he found the caltrops and ball bearings. "...Oh and a couple of those kits there with the bandages and baums." when he was finished he handed over the voucher, just a few gold pieces shy of it's value, but he literally couldn't carry anymore.
"Oh, wonderful. Been meanin' to get some parchment so I can write back to my family." Ivor grabs many things off the shelves, arms full of small objects and such. However, a sign labeled 'Mounts' catches his eye in the back of the store, and he makes a beeline to that corner. "By god, there are dogs in here! Just like at home." He crouches down next to a Mastiff, setting down an armful of items to try and pet it. The whole time he's cooing at the dog. "Aren't you a good dog? Yes you are, of course you are. Dignified gentleman, are ya. Say, Mister Blip, you wouldn't happen to have some kibble for this wonderful little fella, hm?" He puts down the voucher on the counter, muttering calculations as he sets down what he intends to purchase to make sure he doesn't overspend. "I might need something to help carry this all up to my quarters."
Ivor's Purchases:
Mastiff (25 gp)
28 days' feed, for the Mastiff (35 cp)
Ink Pen (2 cp)
1oz Ink Bottle (10 gp)
Parchment, 5 pieces (5 sp; 1 sp ea.)

Chalk, 3 pieces (3 cp, 1 cp ea.)
Caltrops (1 gp)

"I always wanted to shoot one of those, " he says while inspecting a heavy crossbow clumsily pointing it (unloaded) around and aiming at imagined reavers. "Can't wait for target practice, " he adds shyly.
Beaivy sorts through the tools in the store and finally selects a set of navigator's tools, which appears to have a few manufacturing errors after secretly casting Distort Value. "Uh, the mastiff's not for sale," Mister Blip tells Ivor. "He's more of a pet and guard dog," he continues as he goes over and gives the large dog a scratch between the ears. "Most spelljammer and corps cadets have no need for a mount. Their ship is their primary mode of transportation. But you are welcome to keep the food and come visit Bruno anytime you like."

It is in addition to any starting equipment you brought with you.
