He was given an encrypted data crystal with a star map to a secret site protecting some sort of treasure or device of immense proportions or danger (he doesn't know whether it's good or bad). Hiding his true heritage, he joined the Candlekeep project as a navigator and expert in interstellar cartography in order to try and find out the truth behind the attack on his people and to find his hidden birthright.

Destiny. Nothing and no one can steer me away from my higher calling.

Grasshoper was a young hatchling when he was found by some wildspace rovers on a deserted asteroid, with only vague memories of his tribe. The rovers adopted him into there group and named him Grasshoper on account of him looking like one. He then spent the next 20 years wandering the outskirts known wildspace. Part pirate part mercenary, he grew into a fearsome warrior, using the power of his mind and skill with blades. The people around him were rough and rakish, and he has a "jokster" sence of humor, his laugh being a series of clicks and clacks. Finally, he one day came across a strange teleportation circle in the middle of wildspace, and was blasted to candlekeep, right in the middle of a the research project. After some quick talking to avoid aD&D (advanced death and dismemberment) Grasshoper was able to talk his way onto the research team as a security detail, with some background in traveling he is figured to be valuable.

Sharyn had been raised by a human mother who sought refuge at a dwarven stronghold for her homelands had been repeatedly raided by orcs. Being of lean, muscular build, Sharyn was taken apprentice to a stout folk's blacksmith and showed great potential.
Unfortunately, her mother died a few years after and didn't live to see Sharyn finish her apprenticeship. She'd have been proud. As a newly trained smith guild artisan, Sharyn was assigned to a a new post in a nearby keep, Candlekeep, where she was to assist with some new project on repairing a galleon. She overheard that the ship is repaired up in the keep and not near the water which made her pause. But, well, they're all wizards there so who should wonder? Anyway she'll soon find out, she figures on the cart to Candlekeep.

When the young ooze asked the God from where they came, the only answer given, was a finger extendeded to the sun. When Oorpheooze looked back to the stranger, recoiling from the radiance, he was gone. From then, the little slime would wake each night to climb the tallest tower of Candlekeep and watch the sun rise over the Sea of Swords.
Always exploring and eager foe adventure, Orpheooze often watched the ships sailing along the Sword Coast, wishing rhst one day he could set sail to far away lands and find adventure.
One day, he got his wish, and joined a band of adventurers to reclaim their leader's birthright and unseat the usurper who stole the throne of his father. Significantly, this involved Oorpheus lulling into a slumber a dragon guarding the treasure they sought.
On returning to Candlekeep, Oorpheooze heard of the new ships the wizard were crafting, ships that would sail the milky road in the sky and which, they said, could reach the sun, itself. He joined the effort that very day, helping in any way he could.

From an early age Zellion could see the patterns in the world around him and sought to understand how and why those connections exist. This lead him to study the metaphysical in an attempt to understand the fundamental nature of reality and the principles of space and time.
His time spent with his nose in his books and his mind in another world limited Zellion's ability to communicate and connect with his peers and he was often the butt of jokes and the victim of pranks and physical bullying as he was weaker than the other children his age. That was until is grandmother, the legendary bladesinger Aurellia Bynn'Dar, bestowed upon him her greatest secret, "The key to winning any battle is to be where your enemy is not". With some basic instruction in the ancient art of magic and blade and his innate ability to see and analyse patterns, Zellion realised he was able to dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dance his way around the blows of the other children.
From that point forward he continued his education in the art of Bladesinging whilst doing everything he could to prepare himself to attend Strixhaven University where he hoped the great scholars of Quandrix College could provide him with answers he sought. Zellion passed his entrance exams at the tender age of 73, his family thought he should wait until he reached adulthood to attend the University (and would not pay his tuition until he was at least 100). After learning of a research project related to permanent teleportation circles and interstellar travel in Candlekeep Zellion knew he had found the perfect way to spend the next few decades.
