Haven't played in a low-magic setting so this sounds interesting. Knowing my ability scores help with the character creation process, so I'll roll those now and update with a character in a bit.
Ability scores: 7121381615
Name: Dante Gray aka Thunder Class: Artificer (Armorer) / (Considering taking two levels into paladin) Background: Custom (as per DMG rules) Race: Half-Elf
Personality: Grim and Reserved; I tend to expect and prepare for the worst. Ideals: Preparation. I prefer things to be within my expectations. I hate surprises. Bonds: Though we don’t always get along I care deeply for my sister, Dahlia. It is my duty to watch over her and reign her in when she acts out. Flaws: I can get tunnel-visioned and even greedy when it comes to the pursuit of knowledge.
Backstory:
Dante Gray was born to a mixed family. His mother is an elven adventurer well known for her cunning and skills with the blade. His father is a human inventor who teaches engineering at an artificer university. The two met by chance, quickly hit things off and settled down in a quiet city.
If left to his own devices, Dante would spend the rest of his days in his study and workshop. However, his younger sister, Dahlia, was always in pursuit of excitement and adventure. Though he was confident in his sister’s abilities, Dante’s worry over her wellbeing outweighed his own desires. Thus, Dante chases after his sister as they adventure throughout the land. Over the course of their adventures, the siblings built quite a name for themselves as The Grays.
One day, a strange being approached them with the promise of adventures in a new realm. Dante was reluctant, but of course his sister took the offer with little thought. Not willing to ditch his sister, and enticed by the thought of learning new things Dante follows Dahlia into the new realm.

**NOTE**: I decided to tie my character's backstory with @Kwoneunabae's. My character (Dante) is siblings with @Kwoneunbae's (Dahlia). I think it could make for an interesting dynamic that I haven't seen yet in any of the PBP campaigns around here. We both know each other irl and have agreed on doing this. If needed we can make changes to our backstories to better fit your campaign. Also, please consider us as a pair; if you don't want to accept both of us go ahead and give the two open slots to other people. Thanks for considering our applications :)
Name: Dahlia Gray aka Thorn Race: Elf Shadar-Kai (+1 to Constitution and +2 to Dexterity) Class: Fighter (Psi Warrior from TCE) Background: Investigator (Proficiency in Investigation and Insight) Personality: Femme Fatale - an attractive and seductive woman, especially one who is likely to cause distress or disaster to a man who becomes involved with her. Dominatrix - Takes charge and is somewhat sadistic. Ideals: Gold and Excitement. Quick thinking. Loves surprises. Bonds: Dante Gray, Pushes Dante when needed socially and encourages him when needed Flaw: Overconfident, She knows she's pretty, Tries to do good be most of the time causes harm.
- Backstory:
Dahlia Gray was born to a mixed family. Her mother is an elven adventurer well known for her cunning and skills with the blade. Her father is a human inventor who teaches engineering at an artificer university. The two met by chance, quickly hit things off, and settled in a quiet city.
"It's pretty apparent that I take after my mom and just like her I've always wanted to go adventuring. I would constantly beg Dante to go adventuring with me. After a little bit of persuading and puppy dog eyes, Dante always tags along but mostly because he thinks I'll get into trouble. I mean I'm pretty sure I can take care of myself, I've got mom's dagger and the skills to use it. He doesn't know it but I only bring him along because I don't want him being stuck inside all day doing nothing. I'd never tell him that though... During our adventures, we made a pretty big name for ourselves. The people called us The Grays. Better known as Thorn and Thunder. While we were out one day this being approached us saying we could adventure in a new realm. Of course, I instantly took the offer but Dante was hesitant. But... Anything can happen with puppy dog eyes and so we took the offer."
Hello! Can I check before I apply : when you say the character can be from any part of the multiverse, is that published worlds only, or could they be from my own homebrew world, which otherwise follows the published mechanics?
Personality: I once ran twenty-five miles without stopping to warn to my clan of an approaching orc horde. I’d do it again if I had to.
I place no stock in wealthy or well-mannered folk. Money and manners won’t save you from a hungry owlbear.
Ideals: Greater Good. It is each person’s responsibility to make the most happiness for the whole tribe. (Good)
Bonds: My family, clan, or tribe is the most important thing in my life, even when they are far from me.
Flaws: I remember every insult I’ve received and nurse a silent resentment toward anyone who’s ever wronged me.
SHORT backstory:
Gorthak 'Deepdiver' Matukalamune was born into the scattered tribes of the Boreal Mountains which surrounded the Tenebrist Flats, said to be the heart of the ancient Giant kingdom which once spread from coast to coast on the continent of Augera. Trained from childhood to delve into the dark places between and under the mountains, to root out and destroy the evil which gathered there since the fall of the giants reduced this place into a grey wasteland.
Following up on sightings of webbing and giant spiders, Gorthak went deeper and deeper. Eventually he found a large cave, draped heavily in webs. This colony was far too large. He would return with more of his tribe to cull the beasts. But as he turned to leave, a shrill chattering chant started - "Lolth. Lolth. Lolth." From the tunnel which was his way out a bulbous body emerged, eight legged, though the front legs were clawed like hands and held a cruel looking dagger. The face was not spider-like but humanoid, with pointed ears. In the darkness behind him he felt more and more choldrith emerge from the tunnels, until he was surrounded. The one in front of him chittered in the language of the Underdark "The Queen of Darkness will reward us!" They all skittered forward as one... And collided with each other. The Goliath was gone.
Personality: I’m willing to listen to every side of an argument before I make my own judgment. I am horribly, horribly awkward in social situations. I’m convinced that people are always trying to steal my secrets.
Ideals: Self-Improvement. The goal of a life of study is the betterment of oneself.
Bonds: It is my duty to protect my students.
Flaws: I can’t keep a secret to save my life, or anyone else’s. I am easily distracted by the promise of information. Most people scream and run when they see a demon. I stop and take notes on its anatomy. I overlook obvious solutions in favor of complicated ones. I speak without really thinking through my words, invariably insulting others.
Backstory: I was born in the forests, but my parents abandoned me at an early, age, since then, I have been fending, for myself, in the wilderness, and have been hunting, to survive. Since I turned 17, I have been have been on a quest for knowledge, and I teach, other wood elves, in my area. I am currently, on the hunt, for the 7 princes of hell.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Name: Pselbosnel
Race: Myconid (Animation) [The Myconid Handbook]
Class: Barbarian
Ability Scores: 121616111613
Feat: Chef
Background: Soldier
Personality Traits: I’ve lost too many friends, and I’m slow to make new ones. I have a crude sense of humor.
Ideals: Responsibility. I do what I must and obey just authority. (Lawful)
Bonds: I’ll never forget the crushing defeat my company suffered or the enemies who dealt it.
Flaws: I made a terrible mistake in battle that cost many lives—and I would do anything to keep that mistake secret.
Long backstory short: A one-armed Myconid from a town in the Lowerdark, Fluvenilstra, wants to be a barbarian to protect its friends. It ends up being a scout instead, and it leaves its town for a weekly scouting mission. It comes back to find its home in flames and everyone dead. It now hates fire, and decides to travel all the way to the Upperdark because, frankly, it kind of disliked the Lowerdark anyway. It had intended to find a new town, before realizing it likes adventure, so it travels to the surface instead. It knows the sun is a deadly laser, so it applies an umbrella to its backpack.
Notes: I am a noob at roleplay, but I try my best. This campaign sounds awesome, and I'd hate to miss out on it.
Allow me to introduce Dapple Moonshadow, an archfey warlock fairy... (If we're going for a fresh infusion of magic to the world, I thought I'd go all-in!)
Background
Outlander
Personality Traits
I’m driven by a wanderlust that led me away from home.
I watch over my friends as if they were a litter of newborn pups.
Ideals
Change. Life is like the seasons, in constant change, and we must change with it. (Chaotic)
Bonds
An injury to the unspoiled wilderness of my home is an injury to me.
Flaws
There’s no room for caution in a life lived to the fullest.
Dapple has travelled Faerun far and wide since he left the feywild, consumed by a desire to see the world and visit the great forests of the land. Along his journeys he has encountered great beasts, ancient groves, druid circles, and more... His thirst for new experiences remains unquenched...
He is accompanied by Carrick, his pseudodragon familiar, who shares his desire for new experiences...
Class: Paladin 2/Blood hunter 3 (Order of the Lycan)
Background: Folk Hero
Personality: I am confident in my abilities, maybe a little to much. I will not boast, but i will not hesitate to put someone in their place. All in all, I like to think I am rather easy to get along with. If you give me the chance that is.
Ideal: Sincerity. There’s no good in pretending to be something I’m not.
Bond: A true monster is one who acts the part. I will use any power granted to me, be it curse or blessing, for nothing but the good of the world.
Flaw: I will stop at nothing to do what I believe is right, no matter the cost.
Backstory: Alastor had potential to become a great paladin since the day he started training. Despite his heritage, he became one of the town's most loved protectors, warding of any threat that arose. All he wanted was to provide safety for his home, however that dream was stripped from him after the night the werewolves attacked. He and his squad were able to drive them out with minimal injuries, but Alastor himself was bitten during the fight. Knowing he now posed a threat to his home, he left (with the town's blessing) hoping to find a cure or a way to control the new beast inside of him. During his travels, he was recruited by a Blood Hunter order, they taught him to control the beast. Since then, he has been using his new power to protect from, and purge evil from the realm.

Personality: I believe that anything worth doing is worth doing right. I can’t help it—I’m a perfectionist.
I always want to know how things work and what makes people tick.
Ideals: Freedom. Everyone should be free to pursue his or her own livelihood.
Bond: I owe my guild a great debt for forging me into the person I am today.
Flaw: I'm never satisfied with what I have― I always want more.
Backstory: Born deep below the surface Grimli was blessed with the gift of crafting as far back as he can remember he held a smith's hammer. As he continued to master his craft he would begin making his magnum opus a suit of armor made of adamantite, both of the gauntlets were equipped with a device he had made, the chassis as well was equipped with a device to administer a concoction to help him in battle. After he had made this armor he decided to set out for the surface to compare the crafts of his people to the ones above.

Flaw: I am easily distracted by the promise of information.
Backstory: Itza's childhood wasn't too remarkable... until she stumbled upon an ancient grimoire on Necromancy Magic in her old town's library. Keeping it secret, she would venture out into nearby woods to look for animals to practice the spells in the grimoire until she could recite them by memory. When she came of age, she joined a Mage's Healer Guild as an emergency dispatch backup. One day, while out on a job, she was inexplicably snatched from her position as she was in the process of reviving a victim and sent to a strange new world.
