As Ashe was traveling a rather perturbing thought had hit him. Who were the Cardinal Pioneers? Ashe had sharp insight when it came to people but.. He wasn't exactly well studied on many subjects. Though he tracked the building down it seemed rather impressive! Loud noises of machinery could be heard inside. Yet it looked like a normal office building for pencil pushing on the daily grind. Ashe had looked to the rest of the group to embarrassed to admit he didn't know who these people were. Surely they must have known yes? He opened the office doors to see a young woman in glasses and a tight fitting suit typing away on her typewriter with long slender fingers. She seemed rather tall certainly so for a human woman. She had looked up at the group with narrow eyes.
"Do you have an appointment?"
"Err.. Well I.. Umm That is to say... Well...."
OOC If Ariande wants she can roll deception against his previous Insight to hide her momentary disgust she doesn't have to though
When Mari entered the building her attention was immediately caught by the typewriter. She fascinated at the complexity of the machinery that fit inside that small casing. To her the advancement of technology was like a trail of dominos. One small push and everything starts moving at a hare's pace. However, she notices Ashes stutter as he talks to what seems to be a receptionist of some kind.
"Sorry miss. Unfortunately we do not," Mari says as she steps in to pick up on Ashe's conversation, "However we would like to have our backgrounds check as we have some important business involving a noble."
Mari proceeds to display the job poster in the bar and lays it in front of the women.
"Again, I apologize for our lack of an appointment but is it possible for us to get our background checks done today?"
"You seem to be a hard worker so you would know how important punctuality is. We also have a job to do so I promise you we won't take too much of your time."Mari pleads. If one was looking at Mari they would notice the faintest of glow in their eyes as she uses Tides of Chaosto gain the upper hand in persuading the receptionist. Although a trivial use of her powers Mari feels like staying longer than they have too would not be in their best interest.
The receptionist had seen this glint but without a deeper knowledge of the arcana she's convinced Mari just has particularly pretty eyes. The receptionist looks down and looks back up with a nervous smile. Ashe looked rather shocked at Mari's social skills, speaking of which thinking back at the tavern.. He couldn't get a solid read on the other one. That made Ashe a bit nervous he was usually the type to read others even if he wasn't great at making connections. Though he couldn't help but feel impressed by Mari, embarrassed sure but impressed as well. The receptionist had taken the job poster writing on the back looking back at Mari.
"I don't see the harm in allowing it to slide this once, we don't have a lot of great prospects for that job. I wrote on the poster my signature and the room number on floor two. Thank you for visiting Cardinal Pioneers and please.. Have a wonderful day."
The poster had said room "2B" on floor two, there was a rather large staircase but also a small box that could work as a "Lift" if the party was feeling more adventurous.
“You have my gratitude.” Mari says as she takes the poster while flashing the receptionist a smile. She feels a little ashamed she had to use her powers to get through but the longer they take the more likely something crazy is going to happen due to her magic. She shows the poster to the group.
“Let’s get moving. We don’t want this noble to wait too long.”
Ashe looks to Mari and nods as he begins to head for the stairs he never was a fan of the lifts or any other modes of transportation. Whether one took a life or took the stairs they would all find the office they were looking for. Coming in with the poster and signature in hand. An elven man looked back to the group with a nod.
"Yes I will require each of you to answer a few question."
The room had many desk and many papers with a few cabinets as well. A course rug like carpet in a dark room with tinted windows this tall elf with a sorta.. Elemental energy to him. A brown like aura, many would know he was a Eladrin elf. He had handed each member a piece of paper with the following questions.
1: What our you're prospects? Previous jobs and you're family name.
2: Do you have any references that vouch for you're character?
3: What are you're goals for the future?
Three simple questions but the elf had waved his hands using a few words of arcana to cast a spell on the ground. Before he began to wave a bit casting another spell.
"Zone of truth and detect thoughts. You're information will be private with only my eyes to see but you will not lie on these papers. I must make for certain that you are not simply bandits trying to abscond with a noble."

OOC: It was not so much disgust but more something like regret. I’ll roll deception anyway though:
Deception: 16

Than more so to hide regret and I'd say she does so masterfully! Ashe is gonna feel stumped lol
Also can Mari roll a persuasion check to convince the receptionist to forgo the need of an appointment ^^

"Would please let this slide?"
