Seraphina wipes the goo off of her blade and sheaths it. Then heads over to see what Cybele has found. Squatting down to take a look, she turns to Meiki briefly, "You sure you're ok? That centipede got you square in the face!"
Perusing through the find, she opens the scroll case and takes out the scroll, pondering over the letters it holds.

"I'm better now...still a little weak, but ready to move on if we can get through that door. I wonder if its locked? Cybele, I don't suppose you could get it open if it is?"
Cybele grimaces at her injured friend, but goes to check out the door (after distributing what of the bags contents the other two wanted). "Hmmm, I'm not sure. I don't have a lockpick. I tried to open it before, but it was locked. Although, I was trying very hard..."
Cybele returns to stand in front of the door and tries the handle again, and examines the keyhole to see if anything else could fit in it if none of them had a lockpick.
"Ah, bummer. I don't Seraphina can pick that lock? If not, we may be heading back to our campsite for a good night's rest and then back to Daggerford to find some tools...unless either of you have another idea?"
"Well, you're right, I can't pick locks, but maybe I can try to knock it down? But if we'd rather head back to town after a rest, I'm good with that as well."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Now that they had more time, Seraphina walks back over to the door. She looks over her shoulder at Meiki to see if he would rather not push forward in the condition he is in. If he doesn't make any notion for her to stop, she'll proceed.
She runs her hand over the door, looking for a spot to leverage. Finding what she is looking for, she jabs her sword inbetween the door and the stone wall, next to the lock. She then presses against her sword, using it as a lever.
The paladin examines the wooden door and finds what she was looking for - a potential weak spot caused by the damp underground air. With a hard shove and the leverage from her sword, Seraphina is able to break the lock and force the door open!
Behind the door is a dark and dusty room with carved stone walls, measuring about 10'x15'. There is only dust and decayed wood here…it is obvious no one has set foot in this room for decades. On the eastern wall you see an opening and a narrow stairway leading down about 15 feet. At the bottom of the steps is a wall, but you easily spot the release mechanism on the back of what is most likely the back of a concealed door!
On the other side is a 15’ by 20’ room carved from the stone, with a 2’ diameter stone pillar in each corner and a simple, but sturdy, wooden door on the eastern wall. The stone is smoothly cut – either a master craftsman or a powerful magician formed this chamber! The room is filled with several tables, various broken pieces of glass or metal equipment, ripped parchment and books, and various substances – it looks like Doc’s alchemical lab if a bull charged through it. Although the equipment is decades old, the damage seems to be more recent…

Cybele looks at the wreckage in the chamber, looking almost sorrowfully at the broken glass. She begins to look over what she sees, trying to find anything salvageable or cool-looking, or even any clues as to what had happened here, mumbling "it's such a shame, this stuff seems so old, I bet there was a lot of really interesting stuff in here. It's a shame someone's hard work was destroyed like this." (investigation: 15)
She carefully picks up bottles, and looks through pages of the torn books. Even in chaotic ruins, Cybele couldn't help but think the chamber with all its broken glass and thrown papers still looked beautiful!
Cybele finds a couple of empty bottles that could still be used for potions or spellcasting components. There is also an interesting assortment of colored glass fragments, ceramic shards, and copper tubing that could be used for arts and crafts!

(I have the same issue with a headshot - I'll get one in tomorrow, and then hopefully be more consistent)
Seraphina looks around, confused. First, why would a lab be placed deep in this cavern? And why or better who would have damaged everything recently? Would it have been another centipede? What else is lurking in this cave?
Investigation check to see if she can gather any information on what might have been in the room - 15
The damage appears to be more than the inadvertent disturbing of an over-sized insect. The destruction is more complete, like an angry man or a petulant child had run amok.
Cybele had never been too into potion-making, but she took one empty bottle, just in case, and a few of the prettiest ceramic pieces.
"What do you guys think? This is an interesting little room, s'a shame it's all smashed to bits," Cybele says to the others. She also wonders if whatever smashed it could be nearby. Maybe she could kindly talk to them about destroying things that aren't theirs.
Meiki picks through the debris but decides not to add anything to his collection. "This is certainly a man-made room...not at all like the caves. A real adventure! Let's see what we can find down here - other than our tragic deaths," he says with a grin...
Seraphina finds no traps, so she opens the door to reveal a 5' wide passage leading east about 25', with two passages leading south - one at the end of the hallway and another 5' away. These passages are still carved stone, and there are lanterns spaced every 20-30 feet to provide illumination! Each passage ends in another closed door, and in the closest passage there is a door in the western wall 20' away. (See the updated map - you can use the link above in post #69)
"Yeah, a lot of choices down here. How interesting." She scratches the top of her head for a moment, "Closest one works for me." Seraphina heads to the closest door and tries to open it.
The door opens easily enough - for as old as the place seems, the craftsmanship is exceptional! Set into the stone floor of this 15’ x 15’ room are two concentric circles made of pure gold, with silver runes spaced evenly between the rings. The runes look similar to the ones in the parchment, and one of them has been scratched out by some kind of terribly strong claw or chisel…
DC13 Arcana:
This appears to have been some sort of magical summoning construct with a containment area, but the scratched-out rune destroyed the magical containment field. Good thing whatever was once summoned is no longer here. Or maybe it's NOT a good thing...

(What is the door made of?)
"Well, you're right, I can't pick locks, but maybe I can try to knock it down? But if we'd rather head back to town after a rest, I'm good with that as well."
It's a wooden door with metal hinges/lock. DC18 Athletics check to knock it free!

Cybele approaches and curiously peaks out into the passageway from behind Seraphina. "Huh, look at that."
"So many doors, which one should we try to go through?"
Meiki shrugs and offers, "The closest one?"
