"If I'm to understand this correctly, Archmage, ye wish to summon the Demon Lords back to Menzoberranzan to fight one another?" Lulu softly questions. She leans forward with quite an intense expression and continues, "Which will not only decimate the city itself, but also kill an untold number of innocents."
Her gaze fixes on Vizeran's face, watching for truth or lie, as she asks, "Is there no other location they could be drawn to?"
Vizeran takes another drink and then speaks, "The city is already in shambles by now, not to mention it is the source of all of this so it seems the best place. Nevermind if any of them decide who might really be behind this, no better place to seek revenge than with those who throw in their lot with her. I wouldn't necessarily call them all innocents."
Lulu:
He certainly seems to believe what he is saying to be true. He isn't boldface lying about anything.
"I do not consider 'innocent' to be a subjective term when it comes to children or slaves taken against their will, Archmage Devir. Both of which are surely still in the city." Lulu's ears press back like an angry cat's though her expression remains the same as she slowly repeats, "Is there no other location they could be drawn to?"
((Insight: 17+7 24. Sorry sorry it was just that last question the insight was meant to be on!))
"I stand by what I said, it is the best place, the source of these troubles. Ensuring we send them back as close to where Gromph did his own reckless ritual is what is needed. I wouldn't put it anywhere else."
Lulu:
He may still have his reasons, but he is not being wholly untruthful either.
The best place for whose agenda, Lulu wonders as she slowly sits back, ceding the floor to the others. The firbolg wraps her white-tufted tail around her lower leg to keep it from flicking.
Katryl listens now as primarily Khessa questions Vizeran. It seems they have several destinations to check out in order to collect their list of ingredients. The final one though, the infiltration of Menzoberranzan, seems highly unlikely. "I'd very much like to hear how you will get us into the drow city. The drow will clearly see we are not of their kind. And even you and Traydark are exiled from there, aren't you?"
"I have a way in that does not involve attempting to convince countless guards and patrols to let us in, that is all you need to know for now. It will be quite safe to get there." Vizeran half chuckles once.
While contemplating the missions presented to them, the noble Drow listens to the discussion about where the ritual should be performed. He was quite certain their host would take no small pleasure in the Demon Lords wreaking havoc in Menzoberranzan once more, but the words of the gentle Firbolg moved him somewhat. It was still fairly strange to him to see someone caring for those they didn't knew and didn't stand any gain from trying to protect, but admittedly it felt right somehow. Feelings like that would hardly help with the larger problem though, the Demon Lords and their minions wreaking havoc and destruction in all of the Underdark. He would assume the Drow already secluded themselves to their fortified mansions but there would most certainly be collateral damage in this scenario. The situation being what it was he decided to not fight the archmage on this decision. As for getting into Menzoberranzan, while he was certain security at the known entrances to the city was heavily protected he didn't doubt their host would have a way inside for them. Dealing with the immensely powerful Gromph Baenre himself would be the greater challenge.
"We should get going then..."Traydark announces as he gets up from his comfortable chair. "...we will start with an expedition into the Wormwrithings and see what we can find there. Depending on the outcome of our expedition into those tunnels we will then decide on what should be our next destination." He continues, readying himself for departure.
Horkas stands, too, ready to embark on a real mission! His mind goes to the troops they were leading, and how they should be told everything and given the chance to continue on. It was certainly not going to get any easier, but he was sure most of them were committed to the cause and would fight on...
Khessa, before starting the components' quest, proposes to Vizeran to carve out a few moments to share arcane knowledge. Her power is still far lesser than that of an archmage, but she owns Lesla Carrowill's tomes... a treasure of knowledge even an arcanist as expert as Vizeran might be interested in. Plus, helping her, he would be more likely to get his components...
Does he accept?
And, if he does, there are some 1st/2nd level spells Khessa can find to (eventually) copy?
"You've seen the sorry excuse for a spellbook the human is hauling around Vizeran, if she is to be of any use in gathering these components for you I suggest you share something from your arcane library, it's not like she has mastered more than the most simple spells so far."The noble Drow says with a small smirk.
Persuasion: 13 Another roll if Khessa agrees with these claims: 12 + Luck: 5

If allowed, Khessa follows Traydark's lead and tries to give him Advantage, instead of rolling independently.
But if she, instead, has to roll herself, here we go: 20
It's with a heavy heart that Lulu also stands and makes her way silently down the stairs and out of the tower.
She crouches in wait for the others at the mouth of the narrow tunnel, tail flicking erratically back and forth as she's deep in thought.
Regardless of the outcome of the proposal to Vizeran, Khessa, noticing Lunaria's sadness and imagining the reason, reaches her and murmurs: "Hey! Don't worry, Lulu! We'll make sure that innocent people aren't involved! Vizeran is keen to summon the Demon Lords in Menzoberranzan? Well... we will summon them inside the main temple of Lolth! In there, they will be even more angry, finding themselves in a place consecrated to the one who used them... They will just think about massacring each other and any casualities will only be priestesses of Lolth... people who, I can assure you, are neither innocent nor defenseless! And perhaps, upon seeing their temple devastated at the end of the battle, some of Lolth's faithful will also lose faith in that vermin who they insist on venerating as a goddess".
"Come on," the blonde arcane warrior, standing on tiptoe, manages to pass a hand over her shoulders "we will find a way to make everything go well, I assure you. Right Dawn?" she also tries to involve her own sentient weapon "Tell Lulu too! You are so ancient and wise... certainly wiser than me anyway, my bright friend!"
Dawn coos back that they are enamored with the idea of bringing light to a place that is so dark, and demons back to their Abyssal home all the better.
Vizeran strains for a moment before standing up. "Very well. You stay behind while your companions leave and I will...assist in your learning. The sooner we do this the better, or no knowledge of spells will be of use when the demon lords have taken over everything."
Katryl studies Vizeran as he says he has 'a way' to get them into Menzoberranzan. (Insight, trying to first see if he really does have 'a way' and to see whether he truly expect it will not put the group at risk: 11) 'Why is he giving us so little information? He hardly seems to view us as true allies.'
Hearing the drow's offer which evidently requires Khessa to stay here while they complete their search for the spell components, the orange streaks in her hair start to flare brighter. 'Of all the self-serving... She's staying here to look at books while we really need to be fiding these items?' she thinks. She too wanders back down the stairs to the bottom and heads out in search of Lulu.

(Hard to say. Though he hasn't given you any really solid reason -not- to trust him, unless you count the whole Menzoberranzan thing. He surely has his reasons for what he does.)
(Also, he only needs Khessa for a little while, not the entire time the rest of you are out gathering things)
Lulu struggles to imagine that a temple will hold so many Demon Lords, as massive as they seem to be. And she wonders if these priestesses of Lolth are not unlike Traydark; raised knowing no other way, but, when shown kindness and new perspectives, might make different choices.
Still, she appreciates Khessa's sentiment and consolation and smiles down at the human, placing her hand on Khessa's shoulder as well. "Aye. Together we will right these wrongs." In truth, the seeds of another plan have been planted in her mind. One she cannot mention until they are well away from the archmage's tower.
With a flick of her tail against Khessa's hip, she encourages the wizard with a wry grin and a jerk of her head back towards the tower, "Now go on, lass, ye've tutelage to receive."
"Hey, just a moment Vizeran, what do you mean 'while my companions leave'?" Khessa is perplexed "We need to be united when we go looking for the components... I had in mind a small study session before we all leave... not to let my friends go to face those dangers without me. What fun" she adds, winking "would that be?"
[[ OOC: I also declare Khessa's intentions, so that the DM knows how to adjust narration based on the answer he has Vizeran give: Khessa studies with Vizeran if this is something that can be done before the party begins the quest for components. .. she will give up if, in order to study with Vizeran, she has to let the party leave without her.
That said, if the first option is true and she can study with Vizeran... in addition to various interesting general arcane knowledge, can she find any 1st or 2nd level spells that she could copy? ]]
