The guard, clearly surprised by the presence of a group of infiltrators, asks, "How did you make it inside Cube 1717?"
Gwin smiles not unkindly at the guard. That is of no consequence to you. The real question is how did YOU get inside, what did you call it, Cube 1717? We are looking for our friend, a wizard, who was carrying some precious stones. Perhaps you've seen him? Or if you haven't, maybe you could direct us to your boss and we could ask them?

The guard offers no immediate verbal response to Gwin's questions about Kivari or the cube's boss. To the cleric's surprise, however, she discovers the guard is telepathically alerting other guards that he has been taken captive by five interlopers. His message is brief but effective: Invaders located in the ladder shaft between the barracks and the furnace room! They've come to rescue the wizard!
Gwin surmises she is part of this telepathic link because she has begun to undergo some sort of transformation driven by the cube's magic. She recalls the detect magic spell that was cast earlier indicated that she was emitting evidence of transmutation magic...
NOTE: The [spell]locate object[spell] spell remains in effect (for 10 minutes); therefore, Rogi would know that the Ioun stones appear to be on this particular floor to the northwest of the tunnel/shaft where the party members are currently located.
Rogi relays this information to everyone else via the link.
With all the chaos taking place Gwin had forgotten about her transmutation, but hearing the words of the guard in her head causes the cleric to clutch her skull in slight distress.
Uh, lads? I can hear the guard talking to the others. He's in my head. I'm still transmutating. And we're about to have some company.

Dabbert takes in a deep breath as Gwin tells them what's happening. He rolls around a hundred scenarios in his head, and then reaches into his belt, pulling free a vial of Holy Water and pulling the stopper out. He has no idea if it's going to do anything or not, but he's willing to make the threat anyway.
"You listen to me." Dabbert says as he reaches out and grabs a handful of the guard's hair. "I'm not leaving here without my friend. We are not leaving here without our friend. You better find a way to redirect the rest of the guards away from us, because I won't kill you. I'll just make sure you suffer for a long, long time."
He looks ready to pour the contents of the Holy Water down the guard's throat and in his eyes...
No idea if this is gonna work or if he's just gonna laugh at Dab...but Dab's next course of action is to use his halberd to lay the smacketh down.
The guard shakes his head and mutters, "You'll do no such thing, fool. You might want to draw a weapon; I suspect you're about to meet some of my mates."
His words are not a bluff. The two guards directly to the west have turned around with crossbows drawn, and the footsteps of other guards can be heard as well...
The guard sputters and curses, the only ill effects of the holy water.
Five guards in the barracks draw nearer to the party, all with crossbows at the ready. One of them calls out, "Surrender, invaders! Vargo may spare your lives! Surrender!"
Rogi cast a spell of illusion on the two soldiers who were standing together too far for him to reach, then moved over to the one who was nearby, keeping his shield in front of him and his sword at the ready.
(hypnotic pattern: both targets need to make a WIS save DC 17 or be incapacitated and immobile )
Rogicasts his spell and watches closely for the reaction of the two guards; he is confident both of them are under his influence now. Gwin sifts through her memory, hoping to find something that helps her with the name Vargo. Alas, nothing comes to mind.
Updated map (w/ yellow area indicated where Rogi's hypnotic pattern was located). Dabbert, Marlin, and Korba may act. All party members are within the circular ladder shaft in the bottom left corner of the map.
"Dammit." Dabbert whispers when the Holy Water has no effect. "I uh...had such high hopes too..."
Dabbert watches as Rogi moves forward and begins working his magic on the two guards. The warrior has few options himself, at least good ones, but the one he does have, and knows best, is aggression. He contemplates doing harm to the fellow he has tied up, then decides against it; if this comes back to bit him or not is to be shown, but he leaves him tied at least before he dashes to guard that is facing them from the corner...
Action: Dash to within 10 feet of single guard at the corner nearest us
Reaction: Dabbert will use his opportunity attack to attack the guard with his halberd if the guard tries to move away, and reduce his speed to 0 on a hit with Sentinel. Or if the guard tries to close with Dabbert, same thing.
Korba, seeing the two guards running at them from the west taken care of, at least temporarily, looks north as the other two run around their area. Not wanting to have to deal with them getting closer, decides just putting them down is the easiest thing at this stage. Moving his flaming sword to his left hand, 3 small balls of sand form in his right and then launch off towards the closest of the two coming down towards them.
As some of his sand balls land, he says to the others nearby, "Leave that one to me. If I am the one to end him, we may be able to learn more soon after."
Forgot about that slightly important detail. Yes.

Damn. Marlin hefts the watch, and points it at the guard. I suppose that means we ought to take care of this one, then?
"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
"And there will be more coming soon it seems," Korba says agreeing with Marlin and preparing himself for an army.

"What a cute notion." Dabbert says. He empties the Holy Water onto the guards face and then reaches for his Halberd.
