"Blue box inside a crate with an A on it. And with how they described the ship, unless someone took the month to make an replica of the Emperor and decide to also wreck it down to make it seem like a ghost ship. I'm pretty sure it is the Emperor."
"Then that brings us to the second question: what is our pay for the success of this mission? Or are you saying the items we can find on that ship should be reward enough?"
"Course not, your pay is actually coming from your success. As I said, if you do come back with the chest, then I'd be able to trade it out for gold, a 100,000 to be more precise. Out of that, your group's cut shall be 10,000 gold, along with whatever you may find onboard, I'd say this a fine deal, yes?"
Shafir studies the map and wonders what could waylay such a large ship. Bad weather, unlikely, Mutiny, possible. He loves the sound of the way coin shift in the bag as Aubreck puts it on the table, but the vast riches on the ship has truly piqued his interest. With that money I can buy back my people's ancestral land.
"Who is the captain of the Emperor and do they have a reputation of some kind?" asks Shafir aloud in a terribly thick accent.
The eyes of Barkas go wide and pupils dilate when there is mention of 100,000 gold. You see calculations going on in his head. “Yep, that’s my question too. Sounds like pirates to me. Any known to be operatin in this area? Sounds like things might get a bit rough… Salvage eh? Well, I can get rough in a scrape if I need to. Wouldn’t be the first time. The gold sounds good to me…”.
"Captain by the name of Kiryl Oakenall, lad's a good one and worked for me already for a couple years. While my first thoughts were pirates or something happened on the ship, the way those fishers described the ship doesn't suite it. As I said earlier, the ship looked like a ghost ship, even stranger is how the ship was still floating even after all three of its masts are gone. Now I don't know of any pirates or mutiny that would leave the ship floating but break all their masts. Maybe Sahuagin but they would've just sank it for being manned by humans."
"To be honest, I really hope it's not pirates, because there won't be much left to salvage; they would most likely take anything of value."
Naru thinks for a bit.
"Curse? Illness?... Wouldn't explain the masts missing. Unless something possessed the crew and they all massacred to their own ship. But there would still be activity on board, which doesn't seem to be the case. By the way, what happens if we go over there and we simply cannot find anything? What if the crate just isn't there?"
Alabaster raises an eyebrow as Aubreck explains the oddities of the discovery. A ghost ship. He had originally thought it was pirates as well - the most logical conclusion. But it does seem like something else is at play.
"Well, I assume that is what he pays us for." Alabaster glances at Naru, a lopsided smile playing on his lips, but at the same time speaking to Lord Aubreck as well. "We do the best the track it down. If not, we don't get paid."
Craice remains quiet,eyes widening at the mention of that much gold, but nonetheless appears somewhat subdued, taking in all he is hearing. Finally he takes a deep breath and quietly says;
"You all wonder of the fate of the box and it's impact upon your wallets, I have a slightly more pressing question. If this ship has lost all three masts, appears as though a ghost ship, but is otherwise appears to be unharmed, then the cargo should be likewise unharmed, but people? People are much different than a ship. People are defiant, stubborn, and will overcome insurmountable odds to get home, to stay alive. When it comes to a matter of survival an entire ocean can become naught but a pleasant dip to some. So if people can be that desperate to stay alive, to get home..."
He looks around the room, hoping someone else in the room will finish his question for him, that he won't have to ask such a question aloud.
"I accept the job and all of its inherent risk" says Shafir telepathically to Aubreck as he gives a curt nod. He then waits by the door for the others before leaving.
"I mean, we could be here all day speculating on what if's, imagining the best and worst scenarios, come up with a hundred different things that could have happened to the ship and its crew, and still be way off what actually happened. So I guess the best way to find out is to go and see for ourselves. I accept the job! Who else is in?" he asks, unaware that Shafir already gave his word.
"Also, from that list of items given by Sir Aubreck, we should be pretty all set, but I would still like to ask your opinion on whether or not we should buy the following items with the 100g cushion:manaclesin case we need to hold/capture someone, holy water (flask)because this could actually be a ghost ship, acrowbarto open those crates, and a fewsignal whistleto call or get the crew ready to leave. If you have any other ideas, please share."
(If all in agreement, we would buy the aforementioned items and be off)
“Well let’s go haveusalooksee!” Barkas brings out his well used cup and pours himself an ale from his stash in his backpack. “Gettin antsy just sittinrounhere anyway.” Barkas enthusiastically starts getting ready to go. He brings out his star map to scan the stars for any hint of a ghost ship or what that could portend, but he comes up empty so he rolls up the map and stows it away again. “I’d like to have me one of those sets of fancy leather armor, a healing kit and antitoxin. The other stuff should come in handy I spec. And the gold, the gold sounds just abou righ. Maybe I could convince those sea ghosties to sing me a shanty and sail me all the way to Chult. Hah!”
“There's no fairer way of putting that." Alabaster says. There's a saying among his people. You never know when the next seed may sprout. You could predict with experience and pattern, you could prepare, but ultimately you only know when you see it with your eyes. He rises to his feet, his luxuriant fur coat falling behind him in style. He nods to Lord Aubreck. "I accept the job, Lord Aubreck."
Craice smiles at the bravery of those gathered around the map, and nods in acceptance, ready to move,
”Fate has us converging upon this point, weaving towards this ship, and I have never been one to fight the way time and fate flow. I agree with Naru’s suggestions, and the idea that we had better get a move on. I accept this task as well, and have nothing further to add to our shopping list”
Before you leave, Aubreck tells you all the ship helping you all get there. A ship named Soul of Winter and her captain, Wolgar Windrune. They'll ferry you close and allow for transport of the goods but nothing else. As Aubreck had only paid them for transport and not for combat. The crew consists of dwarves and captain Wolgar was very insistent that the group stay in their cabins for the trip, as to not bother the crew.
At the docks, with checking in by the dockmaster, you all are lead to the Soul of Winter. One of her crew leads you to the captain, who was shouting orders up on deck. He's a short and stout man with a large beard braided into a single braid, tied off with an iron clamp.
"You lot the noble's group? Well if so, then you all better stay in your quarters. The way there will take about five days and I don't want anyone to bother my crew during that time." He says curtly
Shafir smiles and takes a deep breath, taking in the sea air. "Yes we are employed by Aubreck. Captain, I've been a sailor for several years. Do you mind if I come onto the deck on occasion. I don't mind lending a hand. Being cooped up in a cabin the whole trip does not agree with me" says Shafir aloud.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Naru passes by Shafir as he says that and shouts:
"I don't miiiinnd! I'll stay in my cabin!" Then he turns around to face everyone else, now walking backwards towards the ship. "I brought cards! We can have a few rounds of whatever you know how to play! I'm pretty good at Twenty-One actually, I can teach you how to play!"
(Dexterity check to see if I trip on anything since I'm not really looking where I'm going: 7)
And then dexteriously spins back around and continues walking to the ship, gets on board, and starts looking for the most luxurious of the cabins, because that's how Naru is.

Farewell.
(If you all want to stop by the smithy or general store, go ahead and post that your going for them. Otherwise, the ship is at the docks and has studded leather armor for any character who wants it, two light crossbows with twenty bolts each, five 50-foot coils of rope, two grappling hooks, twelve torches, two healer’s kits, six vials of antitoxin, two potions of healing, and two sacks for carrying treasure out of the ship.)
