Vivi looks from the somewhat belligerent Mills to the more congenial Zanoth, and back again before speaking. When she does it is with a little less ire, but still no amount of cordiality. "Well, believe it or not, a woman my age still gets suitors occasionally, and you'd be surprised who all has a hankering for a girl with brown skin. There's no crime against me entertaining a few potential future husbands is there?"
At first her explanation seems rather logical, but Gor coughs nervously and wrings his hands in disbelief. Lucky is far less subtle, he brings a hand to his mouth as if to cover a cough and then exhales "bullsh!t" *cough* *cough*. Zanoth and Mills immediately get the signal that their comrades don't believe Vivi's story, at all.
Q: Since Divine Sense has no “components” [V/S/M], I assume it’s reasonably subtle as to being used ? Ie, squint eyes, listen with mind to the ether and try and sense as per the ability ? If so, I’d like to use Divine Sense.. (the results will be known only to me at first, as I of course can’t tell the others).
To keep Vivi occupied as Lucky works and others can prepare;
”Well Vivi, glad to say we are no suitors of you, or any other ladies, and have no intention of entering unless needed for our… “investigation”. However could you tell us the descriptions of any visitors, already departed, or still with you that has passed this way in the last week.. please take your time and be detailed.”
If I was… “resting” I might be very interested in this distraction, but not right now.. these ladies of delight can provide only information this night.
Zanoth’s interest in Vivi’s suitors caught her in a beautiful net. If she was telling the truth and had nothing to hide, then sharing a few details with a burly stranger trying to help the town was the nice thing to do. If she didn’t share it would immediately make her look suspicious. So, she shared, shared details about a number of gentlemen that were coming from the heart of the Highland kingdom to the frontier because they’d heard about the caramel skinned beauty who still had enough years in her to make a good wife, or in some cases, the cases of a few rich Eorls with a certain appetite, a concubine. Zanoth wasn’t terribly sure any of her story was the truth, but he mentally noted the details anyway, just in case some of the truth was mixed into her tale, and some of the people were nefarious characters that the group should be looking out for. For the nonce, Zanoth, Mills and Vivi had a nice long conversation all of which went toward her trying to prove she was innocent of any wrongdoing.
What Vivi could not have known was that Lucky slowly and stealthily sidled out of the conversation, around the corner, up a rain gutter, and into an empty upper room. This time, Lucky’s name held true. Having easily bypassed the locking mechanism on the window with a slim dagger, Lucky found himself in a study. A large desk and chair dominated the room, and a small oil lamp still sat sputtering on the table where a few parchments were scattered about. When Lucky creeped over to the desk to take a look at the scatter papers, he couldn’t believe, well, his luck. There on the table in ink on sepia was the exact information the group had been searching all over for. A letter, written in Common, but in a very strange script addressed Vivi as “acolyte Vivi.” The letter thanked her for locating the Dragonfort Key amulet, and told her to await the arrival of five of “Kraiula’s Disciples.” Not satisfied, Lucky did a bit more searching, and found a strange necklace on a leather thong inside the desk drawer. The silver pendant on the end of the leather strap looked like five curved claws, each one painted a different color: white, green, red, blue, and black. Hearing footsteps approaching, Lucky snagged the letter and the necklace, and jetted back out the window, gently and stealthily closing it behind him, just as he saw two women enter the study. Lucky, climbed back down the drain pipe and came around the front of the house, just as Vivi was finishing up a story about how one of her suitors offered her a ruby and platinum ring.
As soon as she finished, Lucky popped off: “I’m sorry, what were you lying?” The halfling flashed the letter and necklace and everyone watched as Vivi’s caramel colored skin blanched white. She attempted to slam the door shut, but Zanoth plopped his foot down and she couldn’t. Vivi then turned and ran away from the front door screaming “Run!” at the top of her lungs. What followed that was total chaos as all of the widows dashed as quickly as possible for the first available exit out into the dimly lit, and currently packed with Winter's Feast partiers, streets of Hyssop Ridge.
(OOC: Rolled initiative in the Encounter Builder system, or tried to. It looks like the system is having a bit of a fit at the moment, and some characters still haven't fully loaded. One enemy rolled a 20 for initiative, though, so bad-gals got to go first. That’s why I had Vivi run away into the house before anybody could do anything. When I said “total chaos,” I meant it. Imagine seven women all trying to run out of various exits of a house just after dark into the middle of a lamplit street full of “Friday” night revelers. For the moment, since clearly no one would have expected this to go bad so quickly, your party is all grouped up at the front door of the house, and most of the women used the Dash action to get out a side door, back door, or even jump out a window. Let’s have fun with the chaos, but run things through the initiative system just to keep track of action economy in the chase. As always, let me know if you have any questions)
Scowling at Lucky for giving the game way before they could ensure capture, and realizing it would be quicker for someone of his stature to run around the outside of the house than through the chaos inside, Zanoth decides to try and head off Vivi’s escape by covering the back of the house. Ignoring any other distractions, he looks for anyone who could be Vivi, especially disguised.
“Get her.. She’s the key to this information, the others don’t matter”.
/OOC I’ll make my way outside to cover any other exits.. My size & armour aren't really made for tight quarter chases.
If he can, he will try to keep his eye on the widow he believes is vivi, and attempt to follow her through the chaos, trying to slip past all the others without getting distracted by how bumped around he’s getting.
OOC: I feel like that requires a check, but if it’s possible and requires a check what would it be tem?
Lucky attempts to prove the worth of his name once again, and scatters a bag full of tiny metal balls on the floor right were Vivi was attempting to escape. She stumbles for a moment, but quickly rights herself and continues running through an open door to an adjoining room. Drax and Mills sprint to catch her, but both, now, also have to avoid Lucky's little trap. Drax's claws help him dig in and avoid slipping. Mills, though, having chased down many a wounded quarry in the wild, leaps the ball bearings in one powerful leap. He lands within a hair's breadth of Vivi, and a hair's breadth was all he needed. He reaches out a hand and grabs a hold of her long hair, arresting her momentum, and causing her to fall to the ground. Mills keeps tight grip upon her hair, while he waits for his companions to join him.
(OOC: Man that was close. Vivi rolled high enough to keep her footing on the ball bearings, but then so did Drax, and Mills rolled a Crit on his Dex check to keep his footing. Rewarding that high roll I had Mills make his mighty leap. Then he rolled rather low for a Strength check to grapple Vivi, but, thankfully, she rolled lower! So, if you are all content to let the rest of the ladies fade off into the night, we can end initiative. Looks like you've got a prisoner to question. I've found the best way to do interrogations in play by post is for each person to put the questions they'd like answered into private chat, so I can collect them all, and answer them there. Then in-game I'll just do a bit of quick narration summarizing things, and move on from there. So... think of all the information you'd like to get from Miss Vivi, head of the widows' circle of Hyssop Ridge, and apparently newly initiated acolyte of Kraiula, and post those questions in our private message discussion. Remember though, that Vivi won't know everything about what's happening, there will be things she just doesn't know the answers to. She does, though, obviously, know a great deal more than you all at this point.)
Zanoth stands guard at the back door allowing the normal occupants to leave, and waits for the others to confirm Vivi has been captured. Then moving inside he helps with the interrogation.
Glad he didn't muck it up too bad. He will join the group.
Shoot in my mind she made a very "home alone" fall. Guess she is use to working around balls eh eh ok not funny. Well boys tine to have some fun. Ha ha ha
Gor waiting outside for a moment figures they have captured Vivi and heads inside "Seems we have our quarry. In my homelands, I was often tasked with questioning of strangers who did not belong."Gor takes out a small knife "Is this customary in these lands?"

Waiting for a chance to sneak off Lucky will sneak around the house looking for a way in.
Once inside he will look for any clues to why the widow is acking shady.

Lucky shrugs at Zanoth, giving his usual I know I know look.
Lucky runs after Vivi then tosses a bag of ball bearings at her feet, trying to get her to trip or slow down at least.
(OOC: Lucky, I'm actually going to have you roll a d20+6(Dex Mod + Proficiency) check on that to determine the success of the ball bearing "attack.")

Mills just keeps staring at Gor with his non-chalant knife. Definitely worth asking about later.
