After a bit of time passes on the road, Leo asks anyone who's awake on the cart...
"Aye, what is our plan fer once we reach the city?"
“My herald Brock should meet us upon arrival, he can help us find reasonable accommodations. I have some personal matters while we’re here as well. The library should be easy to find, admittance however sounds more difficult.” Dolmek has a smile on his face and a spring in his step New Basin is at the top of his travel list.
"Aye, sounds like a plan. The library is where this scroll is, right?"
“Certainly,” says Norr, to Dolmek’s request. “I have tasted the knowledge of several books now, and they do not seem quite so arcane and mysterious when their secret resins and their inks still linger on my tongue.”
Norr has moved so his feet dangle off the back of the cart, and he can watch the road grow longer behind them. If prompted, he looks surprised.
“Oh,” he says, “I thought it was a hypothetical, a challenge of skill. And, of course, I can do what you ask. Except I can’t. I have no paper.”
Casrian has been fairly quiet since his conversation with Dolmek, yesterday afternoon. He helped ready the campsite and aided with the venison, but he was happy to accept the food cooked by the others (even the odd bits). He spent a good while by the fire fiddling with the small lock box.
Dexterity Check: (NAT 1 = 5)
His eyes blurry from fatigue, he eventually went to sleep.
//
Now that the party rolls along, Casrian joins in the conversation.
"Dolmek, would you like help with whatever business you have in New Basin before we attempt to find the scroll? And as far finding the scroll... Dolmek and I are the only ones with titles, but that does not necessarily mean the rest of you would be barred entry."
He looks to Norr. "If we were to vouch for you, they may let the rest of you in as our business partners. If not as business associates, then perhaps as..." He looks uncomfortable saying it. "...as attendants. If all else fails, Dolmek and I will scout alone. Hopefully we find the scroll, otherwise we can all break into the library after hours."

"Anyone else have ideas?"
“Copper longs to be silver, and silver dreams of gold. What is risk but opportunity minting new coin. I like your plan. It suits my inclination. And, if they call us copper, I’m keen to test my improved grip on negotiation,” says Norr, and he holds up his newly limbless and stringless shortbow.

“Yes Casrian, I would definitely appreciate your help. I’ll need to find a barrister and a notory perhaps a scribe. I may also need to earn a bit of coin.” Dolmek looks Casrian in the eyes, “I believe your tale. Until now I’ve never met a true nobleman. Met many generations of inherited title holders. I believe in you Casrian. Bah we’ve only known each other a short while but I want great things for all of us!”

“What about your blank books? Certainly they have pages within, could you not spare a page? Also from what you say of Courts and genies and fey are you not titled with privilege? If not things will change... what aspirations do you have Norr? You can be anything you desire, I’ll help as much as I can.” Dolmek tries to stretch to his full height.

"Aye, that's right Norr! With all of our talk about our pasts, I don't think ye told us about yours... well... could you? I'm curious."
As Casrian finishes speaking, you round a bend and see a large wall, and a gate. 4 guards are in sight, but you are sure that there are more up in the wall. The four walk towards the group and ask: "Hello. State names, and business. Also, I'd like some identification papers."
*you have no idea what he's talking about with the identification papers nonsense.*

((What can Norr roll for insight on what identification papers are necessary??))
Edit:
On seeing the guardsmen and the walls of the city, Norr doesn't look too unpleased to have lost the chance to answer the questions levied at him. Old habits war with new principles.
In his former master's court, to not do a fey even the courtesy of a lie would be insulting, an insinuation that they had not the mental finesse, nor status, to enjoy some light dissemblance; here, his new compatriots treat honesty as the honor, not as a prize to be teased from lies, but as a handshake, a gift of trust without even the implied offer of return favor or nepotism. Norr is intrigued by the convention, but he has not yet mastered it.

As the guard's approach, Leo asks, "Aye, is this the city of New Basin?" and when the guards say that, Leo says "Aye, what the bloody hell do you mean identification papers?"
He furrows his brow. "You know, papers from the Kejsare admitting access to one or more person in your party. Judging by the question, I presume you don't have any? If so, then entrance is barred."

"Aye, since when was that a thing!? Of everything I've heard of New Basin, this was never brought up?" Leo then turns to the party "Aye, any Idea on how to get in?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
“If you need papers then there is something going on? Either way I understand a soldiers duties are at times challenging. These are my bondsmen here are my papers sir. Perhaps a gift for you master Philbin’s Firewater a premium liquor for drafty guard posts.”

Norr whispers to Dolmek “Isn’t your man meeting us here, will he have these papers? Ask them if they will send for him if they will not let you in on your word alone, though it seems your word is a fine denomination to me.”
"The Kejsare is tightening security around New Basin. You'll have to send a request for the papers and if you're clean, they'll let you in a few weeks."

*you guys don't have papers*
What is my scroll of pedigree then? Did my retainers get stonewalled too? I have my papers of nobility.
Dolmek is fuming angry now, he’s biting his tongue trying not to make matters worse.
”I’m so sorry everyone I had no idea things were this bad. Let’s just... (under his breath he says something about a gnoll and a guard) see what we can do.”
“Can you replicate this icon on paper for me?” As Dolmek asks he stands as tall as he can with a full on smile on his face.
Which post did that quote come from?
"Aye, sounds like a plan. The library is where this scroll is, right?"
#495 Norr
Yes but if it is hidden by the Kejsare in a nobles only library we are in for a bit of a run around.
(ooc) Ah, gotcha

Casrian cocks his head at Norr's dismantled bow. "Why did you do that to your bow? What was the purpose?" ((I may have missed the reason earlier))
Casrian gives a deep nod of respect to Dolmek. "The feeling is mutual, my dear Stonelord. May we meet with good fortune, one and all."
He then nods as Leo asks Norr to recount his tale. "I too was wondering. Tell us, if you have a mind to, but let none be pressured too greatly."
