Greetings adventures, my name is Lawrence my pro nouns are he/him and I will be your DM for this session. for the map right now I have a link to area 1. i wasnt able to insert an image lol.
As you open your eyes, you find yourself in an eery cavern. The interior is dimly lit by the sunlight shining through the hole in the ceiling. You feel sharp pain in your head as memory of recent events snapped back into your mind. You were hired by Roland Tress, sheriff of Meadheaven, to investigate the mysterious disappearance of travellers who were last seen in the vicinity of Hollow Rock hills. As you investigated the area, the ground beneath you crumbled, throwing you underground, and upon hitting the rocky floor, you blacked out for unknown amount of time. Now that you've regained consciousness, you find yourself in a manmade cavern with an upturned wagon to your side and beyond it stood a heavy wooden door.
at this point i would like each player to say there name, race, class, describe there appearance, and how you ended up in Meadheaven to accept the job. I encourage role playing as well.
Draco, Gold Dragonborn, Barbarian, 7' tall with straps of leather across his chest and a GreatAxe across his back with handaxes by his sides. He had just come into town looking for work and saw the posting on the disappearances. He was tracking when he found himself down here. He looks about at the others wary but not aggressive.
Description: Clad in well-worn leather armor and a somewhat tattered grey cloak, Zane is slightly above average height for a human male and carries himself like one accustomed to physical labor.He favors a longsword with a dragonshead hilt and battered shield, yet is a decent shot with the longbow he carries as well.Upon first impression he seems a bit intense, stern green eyes glaring from behind a shoulder-length mane of unkempt jet black hair, but is quick to warm up to his new found friends and enjoy a good laugh. His face and hands are deeply tanned, with a scruff of a black beard starting to grow in, suprisingly tinged with patches of grey for one who is obviously quite young.
Zane groans as he rubs the back of his neck and struggles to a crouch on one knee. Taking a quick look around the cavern for any signs of danger, the past few days events slowly start to come back to him… he wondered if it had been a good idea to take this job.
Perhaps he never should have stayed in Meadheaven after helping his mother and Uncle Walt move… perhaps he should have sought another farm job or chopping wood somewhere as he had originally planned.As he methodically checks his weapons and gear to make sure nothing is missing, he goes over in his mind for the thousandth time the ill fated day Leo had been taken down by the dire wolves.After so many years of the three of them protecting the halflings, everything changed so fast… Leo dead.Uncle Walt, who wasn’t truly his uncle by blood, marrying his mother and the two of them deciding to sell the farm.The halflings deciding to move their village into the foothillls based on their witch’s dream… all of it in a few short months leading to this hellhole.
Appearance: A human male around 30 years old, he has short cropped black hair and some scruff. He’s around six feet tall with a lean build, over his leather armor he wears a dark cloak with a hood.
Desmond had to leave the last city quickly, a job he was doing had attracted too much attention from the local authorities. They had not discovered his identity but due to his quick escape he was not able to complete the job and so was quickly running out of money. When at a tavern in Meadhaven he overheard talk of a job the Sheriff was offering. Gold and good reputation with the local sheriff? Well he needed the money and perhaps getting in good with the sheriff would mean it could be easier to do some local jobs if he appeared to be a good outstanding citizen. And so he accepted the job, but had a hard time accepting his current situation. As he stood up he kept an eye on his surroundings and those with him, perhaps one of them was involved in the recent disappearances and were looking to add more to their list…

Alistair suddenly wakes up from a nightmare, cold sweat running down his spine. He dreamed that the evil spirits, which are haunting him since that book, get him up in the air and crashed him through the soil into a deep and dark mining pit. After shaking off his initial confusion, he starts to put the things together. He came to Meadheaven because his master suggested that he should start his search here for clues to find the physical remnants of these evil souls. To know the place and the surroundings better, he talked to a man, named Roland who gave him a quest to investigate the mysterious disappearance of travellers who were last seen in the vicinity of Hollow Rock hills. If he remembers well, this man was the sheriff of the town. During his work, he fell into this cavern. He realizes he's not alone as others are also laying or trying to get up there. He quickly mumbles a series of elder words and a faint magic barrier appears around him.
"Umm...hello there?" - he carefully tries to communicate with the others.
His eyes still adjusting to the dim light of the cavern, Zane is startled to hear a voice. He quickly readies his shield, crouching low behind it and moving to put the cavern wall at his back.
Standing up and not seeing any immediate threat he says “looks like we fell in together down here. My names Draco and I was trying to find some folks. Maybe that’s their wagon there. “ Pointing.

"Help me, Help me," A raspy, low pitched voice called out. “I have been trapped here for days, My leg is pinned under my wagon. Please, hurry, before they come to collect me like the others."
But your unable to see anyone from where your standing.

As his eyes gradually adjusted to the dim light of the pit, Alistair realized that the other figures had also taken up defensive or neutral stances, indicating that they had no intention of attacking. He also heard one of the figures, apparently named Draco, suggest that they had fallen into the pit together while investigating the same thing.
"Not the finest of circumstances, but it is nice to meet you, Draco," Alistair said, offering a friendly greeting. "My name is Alistair."
At that exact moment, they all heard a scream for help. Alistair tried to move a bit closer to see who was in distress, but he was careful to stay out of reach in case of any potential danger. He peered into the darkness, trying to make out the source of the scream, when Draco pointed out the upside-down wagon.
(Perception: 6 - no bonus on Perception, but the character has Darkvision)

As the call for help is heard, Desmond grabs his bow from off his back and readies an arrow but does not draw it back. He walks slowly forward, following the others, getting ready to fire upon a threat if needed. If any of the others looks back at him with his bow ready he will simply respond "Ill cover you from back here."

The cry for help continues "help me, i cant feel my legs!" you all spring into action. Zane and Darco both in the front followed by Alistar in the middle and Desmond in the back with his bow at the ready for support fire. As the group looks around the wagon only then they could see a poor commoner covered in dirt and dried blood, trapped under the wagon from the legs down. "you, you dont know how happy i am to see you all" he said while tears start forming.
while the group was checking out the cries for help, a 14 year old looking monk falls in the pit and walks up behind desmond.

Zane is startled at first as Fenrin arrives, but quickly decides the newcomer means no harm. He turns back towards the wagon, more concerned about the commoner. "Hang on, we'll get you out of there," he grunts as he puts down his shield and grabs the corner of the wagon, heaving it up in effort to take the weight off the man's legs.
Alistair closed his eyes, focusing his mind on the commoner who was trapped beneath the cart. He knew that the situation was dire and that time was of the essence. He began to channel a soothing melody and a calming voice into the mind of the commoner, using his skills in magic to ease their fear and anxiety.
"Do not fret," he murmured in the mind of the helpless man, his voice carrying a soothing and hypnotic power. "Help is here, and you can relax now. Let us assist you, and all shall be well."
