Gan-Re tries to open the box with guidence and expertise

With your keen eye Gan-re sees a trap tied to the opening of the box. There are a series of tiny holes. If you had to guess its probably poison gas.

Try another thieves tool check to see if you can disarm the trap

"There is a trap. Stand back everyone, it might be gas" Once eveyone is far enough away Gan-Re tries to disarm the trap.

[OOC] I'm glad he has +7 on TT as his rolls are terrible. Lets see if it is enough.

Finley feels around his pouches and curses quietly under his breath, "Ah can't find me pearl for th' spell.. ah dunnae know where though.. If'n we can get ta a town perhaps we could trade something for one so ah can cast identify." He shuffles a bit away from Gan-Re, activating his armor so that it extends to cover his legs, arms and a helmet covers his head. He still has his jacket on over it, along with his toolbelt.

With a 10 its a fail

Purple gas begins billowing out from the ornate box.

Somewhere in Gan-re he finds a source of fortitude to resist the poison.

Eventually the smoke clears.

What do you next?

Valrieth claps and says, "Good job, Gan-Re!", when Gan-Re successfully picks the lock.  After he says tells them that there's a trap, she walks about 20 ft. away and says, "Ready."   

Val peers anxiously at Gan-Re over the top of her shield.  When the purple smoke erupts and obscures Gan-Re, she shrieks but resists the urge to rush over to help.  She glances over to Finley and then shifts nervously from foot to foot until the smoke clears.  Relieved to see that Gan-Re is still alive and conscious, she finally calls out, "Gan-Re? Are you OK?"

Once she's satisfied that Gan-Re is fine, still standing 20 ft. away, she asks, "What's in the box?  Is it safe to come look?"

(OOC: Once they're done with opening the box, Val would still like to get a Short Rest before they move on.)

Cough, Cough. "Do not worry my friends. I'm fine. It takes more than a little smoke to take me down. I think that is the last of it. But stay back while I open the box." He pulls out a Javelin and says "Gan-So was an expert at stealth and sneaking. I'm sure they will help." with that he uses the end of the Javelin to open the box. If there are no more surprises he peaks inside.

Inside you see this item. A small item the size of a gold ball.

"It looks the head of a cat statue. Come take a look. I wonder if it's magical."

Valrieth approaches cautiously.  "Oh!  Interesting.  Given everything else that happened in the tower and the fact that this bauble was kept in a locked and trapped box, it must either be magical or valuable."

Val offers to keep it for now.  "I'd like to rest now, but I can cast a spell later to check whether it's magical."

After Val finishes helping Finley bandage his remaining wounds.  While she rests, she takes out the cat head sculpture and examines it.  She makes a little sketch of it in her notebook.

After and hour investigating the cat head carving Val realizes its a magic item called the Stone of Good Luck

While Val is looking at the Cat Statue, Gan-Re takes out the Orange potion and examines it. 

"Ah'm glad yer alright Gan-Re, but ye gotta be more careful, aye? 'n thank ye Lady Valrieth." Finley says, continuing to patch up and work on his armor until the item is revealed. He stands up, arcane runes flaring as his armor slides up off his legs and arms back into his chest piece and he buttons up his coat. "Interesting.." 

Once everyone is finished with there rest then continue on the journey

[OOC] Gan-Re was examining the potion rather than resting. Did he determine anything about its magical effects?
