Gan-Re looks excited "If we made me bigger, could I carry both of you? We would be a flying fortress. Although that wouldn’t be very stealthy. We could always use the hole again."

Gan-Re looks excited "If we made me bigger, could I carry both of you? We would be a flying fortress. Although that wouldn’t be very stealthy. We could always use the hole again."
Valrieth thinks a moment but says, "Yes, I can make you nearly twice as big, but probably just for a minute or so. I know another spell that would empower you with the spirit of a bull for an hour, which would enable you to carry twice as much. But if we come under attack, I would probably need to end that spell so that I could focus on another to deal with the brigands more directly."
"Spells are obviously more complex than I thought. Maybe I should just challenge their leader to a duel. Oh well, planning is not my strong point. There is evil that needs thrashing and children to save. Let us venture forth and see what we can do. Once we scout the area our plans may change. Oh look the water looks lower, I wonder if that is a good thing."

Valrieth shrugs, "Maybe. But these brigands seem to prefer ganging up on weaker opponents. If Agdon Longscarf agreed to a duel with you, I'm sure that he wouldn't fight fair."
Looking at the water level going down, she says, "I don't know. Less water could make the hike more pleasant, but if the swamp floods again, it could be a problem. A sudden flood could ruin a well-prepared plan!" Val still doesn't have any better plan for handling a flood than using shape water to create ice rafts for Finley and her. She suggests that they look for a way to craft oars later today in case they need to row through a flooded swamp. (It'll be too late to make an oar once the swamp floods.) She could create two rafts, 5' square, and they could maybe lash them together with rope into a 10' x 5' ice raft. It would be cold, but it should have room for all 3 of them. She thinks that a thick block of ice would keep them all floating and out of the water.
Val looks toward the Brigands' Tollway to check whether they can see any activity or other change all the way from Telemy Hill. Perception23
After talking with the boys, Valrieth asks for half an hour alone. She goes down the hill, keeping to the path, until she finds Yalendril. She sits down and meditates, communing quietly with the unspoiled natural environment on Telemy Hill. After she prepares her spells for the day, she thanks Yalendril for his shade and vigilance and returns to Jingle Jangle's cave.
At the cave, Val has some water and then fills her waterskin with fresh water. She casts goodberry and gives 1 berry to Jingle Jangle, thanking her again for her hospitality and for the key.
Val divides the rest of the goodberries with the others, 3 berries each. She puts her berries in her pouch and is now ready to hike to the Brigands' Tollway.
"Thank you Val. Your magic fruit is always welcome. Sharing with Jingle Jangle does you credit, but I would expect no less from you." Gan-Re is ready to head out.

"Aye, thanks." Finley says, making sure the berries are safe in a belt pouch. "Hmm, if'n we can find higher ground we can try to put something together for a raft either with the oars or an actual raft if th' spell isn't available." He looks around the safe haven, "So much nicer in here than out there."He's ready to leave alongside the rest.

Gan-Re finishes preening, which is about all the preparation that he needs. Content that his feathers are in good order he sets off towards Brigands' Tollway, Javelin in hand. He takes the lead and keeps his eyes open. He will stop a safe distance from Brigands' Tollway to assess the situation and allow Val to cast any spells before the final approach.

As we travel, we should also try to gather wood for creating oars: recently fallen trees, anything that's wide enough and not too rotten.
(OOC: shape water is a cantrip, so it will be available. It looks like someone already did the math on how much weight a 5' x 5' x 5' block of ice would hold. Val was going to freeze something more like 5'x5'x3' so that the water isn't too deep before she freezes it. She can create 2 such frozen blocks at once, and each one would stay frozen for 1 hour. If we lash them together, it looks like the total supported weight of such a 10' x 5' x 3' raft would be 750 pounds. Val plus all of her gear is only 110 pounds, leaving plenty of buoyancy for Finley and Gan-Re. Then we could either use oars to paddle or maybe just long poles to push the raft along, gondola style.)
When the party reaches the mid point towards the Brigand'sTollway you hear the sound of rushing water as a large wave of swampy water sweeps across the land with the party right in its path. It is moving at a frightening speed.

If anyone is outside they notice the swampy water is receding and draining away.

We have headed out. We're heading northeast from Telemy Hill, toward the Brigands' Tollway:
As we travel, we should also try to gather wood for creating oars: recently fallen trees, anything that's wide enough and not too rotten.
