This Mug immediately shared with me a transcendental tale of an Infinite Mug that anchors the Universe and keeps it from folding in on itself. I filed this report under "illogical nonsense" and asked why its sign is in Times New Roman font, when it is basic knowledge that Arial Black is a far superior font. I wondered: How did this mug even get past the assembly line with its theistic beliefs and poor font choices?
quote from Romantically Apocalyptic byVitaly S Alexius
Lerak joins the conversation. "Why not listening to what he proposes? The more the merrier as they say. We are going to Loomlurch...we could check the place while we are there. Anything that would go against he plans of the hag can only be good I think."
"Will, why don't we sit down and you tell us everything about this creature and the children ?". Lerak joins the talk with a nice gesture, pointing a spot what seems like a good place to sit down and share food.
"Will, why don't we sit down and you tell us everything about this creature and the children ?". Lerak joins the talk with a nice gesture, pointing a spot what seems like a good place to sit down and share food.
Valrieth says, "Yes, let's at least talk to Will about it. If he can get us into Loomlurch tomorrow, maybe it wouldn't really take us any longer to set the other children free, Ilifir."
Will suggests the party head up into the treehouse to talk about their plans. Will drops down the rope ladder. As the party heads up Will says to Val "I do not know of a quicker way to get to Loomlurch besides using the river for transportation."
The floor of the treehouse is covered with blankets, cushions, and piles of straw. Hanging from the six-foot-high ceiling by a rope is a basket that holds apples, berries, sugarcane, and a few crumpled-up sheets of parchment. In one corner, lying on a cushion, is a rusty oilcan that looks out of place. Heaped in another corner is a crude unicorn costume made of polka-dot quilts and a wooden horse’s head that has a wooden horn attached to it. Each child sits and introduces themselves.
Bobi, a boisterous male dwarf growing his first whiskers
Sloane, a sarcastic, ginger-haired female wood elf
Zennor, a tenacious female orc
They then share what they know of Loomlurch.
A squad of tin soldiers defends Loomlurch, but they’re easily lured away by distractions.
The children being held captive in the workshop are haunted by boggles—oily creatures that sprout from the children’s misery.
Granny Nightshade imprisons her most hated enemies in a cell inside her kitchen.
Beware of the screaming scarecrows that acts as an alarm for Granny Nightshade
The kids look to each other, and nod Bobbi speaks up and says "You should meet the unicorn at the Wayard Pool before heading to Loomlurch." Will shakes his head and says "I don't believe the unicorn will help us as it just isolates itself and lets Granny Nightshade do whatever she wants." Sloane pipes in "It does not hurt to ask the unicorn for help"
Zennor then says "If you want to see the unicorn you need to look somewhat like a unicorn. You can borrow our costume if you wish. Also tying a wooden horn onto your head will also work"
Will says "If you help me free the children I can help you with your quest. He then draws a crude map of Loomlurch on piece of parchment. His plan involves a distraction to give time for someone the break in and free the children.
The Approach. Bobi, Sloane, Zennor, and Star will creep through the woods to the west of the tree and hide just out of sight of the screaming scarecrows. Meanwhile, Will will sneak around to the entrance to the kitchen on the east side of the tree.
The Distraction. The party will enter the goblin market posing as travelers, purchase some sweets, and arrange for a meeting with the hag. During the meeting, the children will alert the screaming scarecrows and thereby lure the tin soldiers into the garden.
The Escape. While everyone is distracted, the party will free the captives from the workshop while Will climbs into the textile mill to free the captives there. Once the children are set free, everyone will run back to Little Oak.
The plan seems iffy as they all are children save for Will who seems barely a teen.
“Ah dunnae care if it would cost me heart we have ta save them.” Finley speaks up, “although ah think th’ plan thus far can fall apart very easily if no one falls for th’ distraction or only one goes to check, aye? Also if Will gets caught sneakin’ around we would ‘Ave ta save ‘em as well.”

Finley Stoneshaft, Dwarf Artificer - The Wild Beyond the Witchlight, Falkas, Half-Elf Drow Warlock - Keys of Empire
Will suggests the party head up into the treehouse to talk about their plans....
Valrieth carefully climbs up to the treehouse. Thankfully, since it's a treehouse for children, the rungs on the ladder are spaced closely enough even for Val's short stature. Despite the height, she doesn't feel dizzy, maybe because they seem to be perched up in the branches of a treant. She says, "How clever to have a house in the boughs of a treant! May I ask, what is the treant's name?"
She briefly wonders whether all good creatures in Prismeer have to live in houses that could move around, like Tsu Harabax's house with legs and this treehouse in a treant. But then she remembers that there were some good creatures, like Jingle-Jangle, who were still living in unspoiled, magical areas within the hags' domains. She later realizes that the Wayward Pool must be another such area.
Val meets the children and introduces herself. She is impressed with how comfy the treehouse seems. She looks around with interest and...an odd feeling. As the children start to talk, Val is embarrassed to realize that the feeling is jealousy. Even though these children were kidnapped by hags and taken away to a realm in the Feywild, she's jealous of the little tight-knit group and their treehouse. Val never had any close friends when she was their age.
They then share what they know of Loomlurch.
Val sits down on a cushion and takes out her notebook. She diligently takes notes while the children talk.
Zennor then says "If you want to see the unicorn you need to look somewhat like a unicorn. You can borrow our costume if you wish. Also tying a wooden horn onto your head will also work"
Val notes that down in her notebook and then says, "Oh! No wonder we couldn't get to the Wayward Pool!" She looks over at Finley and says, "I'm glad that we didn't spend even longer trying to get to the Wayward Pool. I don't think that we would have ever thought of trying to dress up like unicorns!"Val remembers the alicorn at the bottom of her backpack and wonders how its related to the unicorn at the Wayward Pool. She's suddenly consumed by curiosity and a deep desire to meet a real, live unicorn!
But when Val hears that there's no faster way to Loomlurch, her attention comes back to the immediate task at hand. She starts counting days in her head and is not encouraged to realize that they only have four days to get the portrait and get back to Downfall.
Will says "If you help me free the children I can help you with your quest....
The plan seems iffy as they all are children save for Will who seems barely a teen.
Val quietly takes notes, but the "plan" doesn't inspire much confidence. She looks at Will's crude map, and her brow wrinkles in thought. She wants to help free the kidnapped children and get into Loomlurch, but she has so many questions about this plan. She looks to Finley As always, the only hurry is Finley's bargain with Bavlorna. If it weren't for that, they could take their time.
When Val gets a moment, she also asks Will and the children they know about Granny Nightshade herself. During the conversation, she tries to find natural moments to ask:
"Have you met Granny Nightshade yourself, any of you? What is she like?"
"Other than the scarecrows and the tin soldiers, does she have other guards or servants in or around Loomlurch?"
"Do you know anything about Granny Nightshade's powers? Hags are powerful witches with strange, fey magic. We'd like to know as much about her magical powers before we meet her as possible."
"Does Granny Nightshade have any weakness or vulnerability? Do you know of anything that we can use against her?"
Val has many more questions, but she focuses on getting these answers first. Will's plan has them meeting Granny Nightshade, and Val had hoped to avoid that. She had hoped that they could steal the painting without meeting the hag, sneaking around Loomlurch much like she and Finley had done in Bavlorna's hut in Downfall.
The kids think about and affirm that they only met know of the tin soldiers and the screaming scarecrows. Though they have heard rumors of some boggles in Loomlurch. They do not know of Granny Nightshade's weakness or her powers. Though they say Granny Nightshade has a fondness for toys and is a toymaker.
The oil can animate and floats closer the to the party. "Oh, if you have a chance, please get some boggle oil as I am almost empty.
"Ah your awake Squirt. If you can get the boggle oil, I know Squirt can be a guide to Yon" says Will
"Oh, absolutely as my word is my bond" says Squirt
(OOC: Has Valrieth ever heard of a boggle before? Nature: 9 in game log)
Valrieth thanks the children for the information. She is surprised to see the animated oil can, but she thanks "Squirt" for the offer: "Oh! Hello...um...Squirt? Thank you! That's ever so kind! We didn't mention it, but we are actually trying to get to the Palace of Heart's Desire. But if you don't know how to get there from Thither, I guess our next destination would be Yon." She looks to Finley to confirm. They were initially just focused on trying to get out of Hither, and ever since they left, Val's thought have just been focused on the immediate deadline imposed by Finley's fey bargain with Bavlorna. She hadn't thought about the Palace of Heart's Desire or of traveling beyond Thither in a few days. It helps that travel in Thither is much more pleasant than it was in Hither! Then, addressing Will and Squirt again, she says, "But before we can go to Yon, we actually have an errand that we need to do in Hither first. We promised to help a friend in Hither, an elf named Octavian, and we need to get back there in 4 days. So, we are in something of a hurry. Once we're done with that, I guess we'd come back here to find you?"
Val thinks that Finley is very brave to risk his heart to save the children who are trapped in Loomlurch, but she's determined to get the portrait and get Finley back to Hither in time. She tries to focus on Will's "plan."
Will says "If you help me free the children I can help you with your quest. He then draws a crude map of Loomlurch on piece of parchment. His plan involves a distraction to give time for someone the break in and free the children.
(OOC: Do we get to see Will's crude map?)

The Escape. While everyone is distracted, the party will free the captives from the workshop while Will climbs into the textile mill to free the captives there. Once the children are set free, everyone will run back to Little Oak.
Val does not like that the plan would have the party meeting with Granny Nightshade when the distraction starts. She says, "So, we'd already be meeting with Granny Nightshade when the scarecrows start screaming? Even if the scarecrows draw away all of the tin soldiers, unless Granny Nightshade leaves us in Loomluch and goes to investigate the disturbance herself, I'm not sure how we'd get away from her to free the children in the workshop."
Val also realizes that there are children in two different "areas" of Loomlurch. She says, "Will, your plan also relies on you successfully releasing the children from the mill. Are the textile mill and workshop not connected? And what if you get caught? We could successfully free the children in the workshop only to discover that you have been captured!"
Val says in an aside to Finley, "I was thinking that we'd approach Loomlurch a little like we did Bad B's hut. We'd just try to let ourselves into Loomlurch and then sneak around quietly without the hag even knowing that we're there." She asks Will, "Will, is there any way to sneak into Loomlurch without alerting the hag's guards? That is, if we don't arrange a meeting with Granny Nightshade, how would we get into Loomlurch's workshop?"
"will, is there any significant and immediate danger to them, as in, if we were to postpone for say, 10 days, would that work? because we have a very tight deadline before, as far as im aware, finley loses his heart! which he needs to live. so maybe we can solve that, come back, sit down and make a more thought through plan over a couple days, and then break them out"
ilifir suggests, incredulous that finley wants to help them now, well, thats the kind of person who risks their heart in a bargain he supposes, it is awfully brave of him. he sighs, shakes his head, and gets down to planning
"how easily do disguised people get caught? and what if the disguise is a spell? shapeshifting?"

Ah can also alter me armor ta make me stealthier if need be ahead o’ time, although ah’m still a bit clumsy when it comes to it.” Finley adds, “also ah do wonder if the’ hag could see through spells such as ye speak of. "There is a goblin market in Loomlurch, perhaps you can try to blend in some way or disguise yourself. The children are forced to work under Granny Nightshade or the rest of their lives. For now, they still live though I don't know what Granny Nightshade will do with them. There are rumors she turns the bad ones into toys." says Will.
Lerak listened carefully. Much has changed in the past few days. Lerak had been spirited away to the Fey realm when he was younger pup, but eventually found his way back to the material plane. But now he remembers why this realm had so much influence on him, so many strange things, twisted perceptions, inviting creatures... He snaps back from his daydream and continues to follow the discussion before adding:
"That's a lot of information. Most importantly, I would like to help free the children. I too was a caged creature in my past. And I know I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
Do you think we have time to check the pool again, a unicorn could help us a lot!
Lerak then gives Wyll a friendly pat on the back, "I like your plan. I'll try to stick to it, but in my experience plans always change at the last minute. We'll just wing it!" He adds with a big laugh. Then he hears the oil can talking. Not much can surprise Lerak, but this was unprecedented. He jumps and quickly puts his hand on his weapon, only to see the small creature. He relaxes a little and says: "Well met... oilcan... I have never met a creature like you before. But if you agree to be our guide, we will be happy to bring you some oil".
Valrieth says, "I'd like to meet the unicorn, but maybe we can do that when we return?" She looks at Finley and says somewhat apologetically, "It should really be your choice, Finley. I'll follow whichever way you want to go! I just think that if we go back to the Wayward Pool tomorrow, we won't get to Loomlurch until the next day. There's no way we would make it back to Hither in time unless there's a magic portal in or around Loomlurch that will take us right back to Downfall."
Lerak nods..." I am sure we'll manage without any guidance from a unicorn. Let's move with the plan then" He turns to Wyll and asks "Do you have anything that could help us in this adventure ? potions, blessing...? We'll take anything against a hag"
"a heroic intent, but it is with heavy heart we must refuse. or at least delay, we are on rather a sharp clock as it is" ilifir cuts in before anyone can volunteer and lose even more time they dont have "perhaps afterwards? and we certainly are no friends of the three, so if we get a good opportunity i personally would be willing to help"
