Alright, that's a hit. Subtract 8 from your HP. If your HP goes to 0, you are unconscious and dying, but for this demonstration let's assume you aren't even if that would normally have done you in.
Okay! To attack, just click the Hit / DC modifier button by the attack you want to make (for simplicity let's do a weapon attack or unarmed strike but many spells work the same way). Tell me what your roll is, that's your Attack roll. If your Attack roll is greater than or equal to the goblin's AC (15 due to leather armor, dexterity and a shield), you hit! Either way click the Damage modifier button by the attack to tell what the Damage you would do is.
ye i quite dont understand that one, like does the stats effect it or do I just do regular d20 with d6?
Good question, yes stats do affect it. So if you have a +3 to hit modifier and a +1 to damage modifier, you would roll 1d20+3 for your Attack and then 1d6+1 for the damage (assuming your attack does d6 damage). If your Attack roll is a natural 1 it's an automatic miss, and if it's a natural 20 you use twice as many dice for damage (so 2d6+1 instead of 1d6+1).
Let's see Jorneir. Can your class cast spells? We could try having you cast one. Either way, you should know about short rests and long rests, which let you get HP and spell slots back, among other things. There are Short Rest and Long Rest buttons on your sheet which automate a lot of it for you, you can mess around with that.
With that done, I think I can open the floor for office hours: let me know if there are any questions, things you want to know how to do, etc!
Ah okay Bomb, do you have a character sheet? If not, you can make a character quickly by going to Collections and the My Characters. Once you have one, you can go to My Characters and hit View under the character to bring up your sheet. Your sheet has all of your modifiers calculated for you, and you can click on the modifiers to roll dice and show you the results if you want (of course you can also roll physical dice, or use the forum's dice button).
Okay, the goblin's Attack was 15. What's your AC (Armor Class) score?
armor class is 12
cool, mind if I join this¨class¨ ?

Ready to make your attack?
Absolutely Bomb, you can roll initiative now if you've been following along. : )

What was your Attack, and Damage?
ye I was reading everything so far, I got 7
Okay cool Bomb, let's go ahead and have you attack the goblin as well! Choose an attack you have and tell me what you get for Attack and Damage.
sorry didn't see it, i got 20 for attack and 12 for damage
ye i quite dont understand that one, like does the stats effect it or do I just do regular d20 with d6?
Well! The goblin has only 7 HP maximum, and you beat it's AC, so you killed it! Nice.
whats else?
