R4G3 walks at Coltinar's side and scans the shadows in the back alleys for dangers, even though they can't really see that well in the dark. When prompted for their story, they explain how they woke on a junkyard pretty damaged and not knowing why they woke up nor who they are nor where they are. That, they had left that place without looking back and turned up in Sharn where they've got by on the streets by pickpocketing and stealing from market stalls to begin repairing themselves rudimentarily. Then Brother Coltinar had found them and all had changed. Now they've learned that they are in Sharn and that there was a Great War and that they were instrumental to the war in some way they still can't remember. But all that is over now and they need to find new roles in society.
Paladin will be an eager listener to Bryn's tale. "The war was different for me. When it was over, my unit split up. It was quite lonely, to be honest. Felt more than a little useless. That's all changing now. I just graduated from the war college of the Silver Flame, and I'm looking forward to getting back to work."
"I mean, in a more productive way. I can help people but still be myself. Ya know?"
His voice is confident and hopeful, perhaps even a little gentle in juxtaposition with his frame, built with a clear intent for war.
"It's good to feel like yourself, living a life of purpose. Just like you did, when you found your friend again, right?"
"So where are we headed?" Rylia asks the group. She had pulled up the hood of her bright blue cloak, but that had done little to prevent her from being thoroughly soaked through. She listens to the others for the most part. "I studied a bit at a college not too far from my home," she mentions. And later notes, "Oh, I've always played the viol but really have been working at it the last few years. Having Bryn around to help out my act though has really pushed me to do new and better things!" She steers most questions back to her music and performing - how she wants to make a name for herself and to make people smile.
She too keeps Bryn close at hand, not quite yet sure where these others might be leading.
You walk together down the street. For the time being, it seems like it's just you six out. It's late enough that most people in the Upper City are beginning their bedtime rituals or drinking in fancy taverns.
Despite the rain, Bryn and Rylia talk animatedly. He is focused on making good arguments about how he goes about his disguises without the others noticing what's really going on. Rylia continues trying to protect her head with her hood, but the rain continues to pour overhead and as her beautiful blue hair as all of you are already soaked. Paladin pays attention to the amusing conversation, but with his field experience, he doesn't stop watching the way. They are one step behind Coltinar and R4G3 who lead the way. Brexiel, a little further back, has his thoughts still inebriated with happiness due to his promotion, although he is somewhat unhappy with the fact that the tavern has been closed, and walks wondering if they could find some other place open to continue celebrating.
/--- This next bit is only for anyone who rolled a Perception of 16 or better. ---/
Coltinar, R4G3 andPaladin: You are coming to an intersection and heading west you spot a figure in a dark cloak moving quietly through the rain on the skybridge ahead. It seems to be avoiding the dim pools of light cast by the everbright lanterns, preferring to stay to the shadows. Lightning flashes and, in the same direction and a few feet back from where the figure emerged, you see a shape lying on the stone floor of the bridge in the brief illumination. The figure quickly reaches the railing of the skybridge, then slips over the barrier and disappears into the darkness and the rain.
/---- in your action, make clear your movement and location---/
When R4G3 spots the shady figure, they turn their head to Coltinar as if in conversation, saying, “The lightnings fall shorter, the storm’s center is almost upon us.” accompanied with a hand moving closer, though not on, their weapon in an effort to gesture subtly the presence of danger. They continue to walk at the front of the group trying to not show that they noticed the strange figure.
the subtext that they try to communicate:
“Saw a shadow briefly, there might be little time to act.”
Edit: had to change their message as I forgot what I had read…
Braxiel being amused with the conversations happening around him, finds no need to speak or intervene. When he sees the rusty war forged turn his body back towards him, he shuffles closer to the rest of the group hoping not to get hurt by whatever spooked it.
When R4G3 spots the shady figure, he turns his head to Coltinar as if in conversation, saying, “The moon light shadows fall long, are we approaching the end of the cycle already?”accompanied with a hand moving closer, though not on, his weapon in an effort to gesture subtly the presence of danger. OOC: Did you miss "...Lightning flashes and you see a shape on the stone floor of the bridge in the brief illumination" or was this on purpose? :D
Coltinar not as subtle as he moves to catch up to the individual, "Be alert everyone ...At Shadowy figure ahead. With me if you please. I suspect foul play perhaps."
Based on his knowledge of the city he'd try to take the most direct route or surest path to follow.
In thought. "In his heart he wonders if the figure is their halfling barmaid. He couldn't really make out the size or he wasn't quite sure at this distance." (?)
Coltinar will not outpace the slowest of the group for too long, so he doesn't split the group.

/---With a perception roll of 19 i would say that you are pretty sure that the figure has a medium size---/
Rylia is confused a little by the actions of the old warforged. But she is clear about Colinar rushing forward. She moves to follow him.
"Where?" she calls out. She reaches for something beneath her cloak, and making a motion with her other hand she speaks some arcane words. Four glowing orbs of a slightly bluish light appear around 100 ft. ahead of the half-elf. They span a straight line, each about 20 ft. from the next. (Dim light in 10 ft radius around each orb. So they give light in a line 80 ft across; casting Dancing Lights)
Bryn is uncharacteristically distracted or lost in his thoughts or just upset at being soaked through and completely misses both figures in the distance until the group stops at the body on the ground. "Just as well..."he mutters under his breath when told about the shadowy figure that escaped. With the warforged standing watch, he squats down by the figure and examines it. Bryn searches for a pulse first, and will either ask the cleric for help (if still alive) or start searching its pockets and pouches (if dead!)
R4G3 sees the cloaked figure and tries, in a subtle way, to draw the attention of Coltimar who doesn't understand the coded message or the subtle movement of R4G3 and shouts to everyone warning about the possible danger. He starts to wonder if it could be the young dwarf from the tavern, but soon realizes that the figure was not at all small.
Braxiel sees the rust warforged movement, realizes that something is not right and picks up his pace to get closer to the group hoping that everything goes well.
Rylia approaches trying to understand where the figure is. Gesturing with her hands and repeating a few words almost in a whisper, she makes appears four orbs that light up the area. Even as the orbs of light are emerging, Coltinar noticed a shape on the ground and ran towards it. And now, with the effect of the four swirling orbs emitting a diffused flash of light, everyone also can see that there is indeed a body on the ground. It sits on the air bridge between two different towers - Dalannan Tower and Kelsa Spire. The body lies on the bridge floor and you can see a mixture of rain and blood around it.
Bryn also runs to the body and bends down to examine it. He tryed to check the pulse but the noise of the rain gets in the way and he cannot confirm whether the body that lies on the ground is alive. Bryn notice a leather bag, still clutched tightly in the body's hand, lies in the growing puddle of water and congealed blood.
Cultinar and Bryn now perfectly can see an elderly, human man lies sprawled out on the ground. He seems to be wearing a posh raincoat and just inches from his face, they see his glasses cracked on the ground.
Whoever this is, he don't seem to be moving. He is perfectly still.

Rylia keeps the orbs of light hovering nearby. She steps close to where Bryn is checking the body. "He's dead, isn't he?" She looks closely to see if she can figure out where the blood is coming from and what sort of injury he might have.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
With Coltinar already working on the body, Paladin runs to the edge of the bridge and leaps over. He lands with a heavy crash, warhammer coming out in his grip, feet spread wide.
He scans the area slowly, a calculating patience coming over him as the lights of his eyes search the dark and stormy night.
R4G3 runs right after Paladin but stops at the edge and looks down the bridge where they saw the figure disappearing. If possible they keep an eye on Paladin and judge visibility through the rain. Can they see what is below the bridge and where the cloaked figure might have landed or where they could have escaped to? How high above solid ground are we?
