The half-open door reveals an iron rim of gearlike teeth. The four-foot-diameter circular door is wedged open by a chunk of stone, and is open enough that a medium creature can squeeze through. The door is made of wood and framed with a ring of mortared stones. The door bears a strange glyph.
Looking through the door Shadow sees...
A forty-foot-square room with a ten-foot-high ceiling. Mounted to the walls of the room are seven tarnished copper masks. The masks are two feet tall and cling four feet above the floor. Each one depicts a smiling gnome's visage. The soft giggling, chirping, and rustling noises seem to pour from the very walls. On the eastern wall is stairs leading up and across from the stairs on the western wall is a tunnel.
It is dark in the room, but you both have darkvision.
Shadow doesn't see anything dangerous as he look out the door.
Also, Alben has darkvision and the spell light, and wont be taking the sunrod.
Alben whispers to Shadow "Well, sounds like someone is up the stairs, think you can get a look without being seen? You should also drink your healing potion (if Shadow stilll has his)"
I don’t know where we are, we can go opposite tunnel of these guys or assuming we are underground we can go through this door and try the stairs, I can try and stealth up for a better look

They have a really high stealth and can use it while running, he also rolled high.
As you enter the room you see that there are 12 masks in total around the room. And there is a closed gear door slightly to the west of the half opened door you came through it bears a different glyph
As the examin the room you see drops of blood coming from the room you just came from smd leading up the stairs.
The staircasw ascends twenty feet before opening into a room. The landing itself is bare save for an empty iron torch sconce mounted on the south wall. Upon reaching this landing you notice three things. The most obvious is that the stairwell turns to the north with what looks like a 2nd landing. You also notice that there are small hoof prints in the dust on the floor. Also something about the southern part of the landing wall seems strange.

The injured skulk runs into rhe southern tunnel. Seeing his colleague flee, the other skulk runs to the eastern tunnel.
You each get 325 xp and Alben gets an inspiration. (Can't level up until you take a long rest)
All of your gear is in a pile except for Alben's healing potion, you also find a pair of dice (worth 2sp)
It is now almost 6pm when you said you would meet back at tge inn for dinner

Shadow will equip his gear and go to take a stealthy look into the open door that has sounds coming from it.
