I am currently recruiting for my Play by Post campaign, it has not started yet. I am just trying to build up the community before it begins.
Play by post weird right? My main focus is to create a table that is drop in, drop out. Play as much or as little as you what to, fix that roleplay, fantasy dungeons and dragons itch that we all get. This table is for busy nerds, people who have patience as sometimes game will run pretty slowly and an Open Mind to new Rules and mechanics that just allow better game flow for this type of game play.
I am always interested In additional staff, Dms, play testers, etc.
If you are interested please add my discord :
BOC#2369
Please note, if you live outside of the United States, this might not work for you as game times will usually be during the time you’re asleep. 🥹
Very interested but have no discord, can I contact you on this site?
Admire and honor you for what you're trying to do here also; I have a thread of my own as well and trying to keep it open and flexible as long as I can specifically because its so hard to get into most games and the post frequency requirements make it even worse.
I would like to put my name in as both a player and potential co-DM. I really like to play certain types of characters but enjoy stretching my chops every now and then too. I tend towards rogues and bards of slightly more unusual subclasses (Soulknife, Swashbuckler and Arcane Trickster for the rogue; when I'm a bard the Colleges of Creation, Glamour, and then either Swords or Valour appeal). I also enjoy wild magic sorcerors, blood hunters if allowed (usually go for either Order of the Lycan or Order of the Profane Soul), and finally, a character from the nature guy triumvirate (ranger/barbarian/druid, again leaning towards interesting/nontraditional subclasses). Race-wise. I like my humans variant bc I LOVE feats; otherwise I have a tendency for the fey and the feline. Tabaxi, firbolg, wood elf, rock gnome, love them all, and I'm intrigued by haregon and owlin but haven't made any characters yet.
I have a couple of favorite characters I like to retool for PbP games, and also enjoy creating new ones. Most of the favorites have some sort of twist or vividness to the backstory or character creation. They are: Phipnaxi Reboonsmest Leewamba, a rock gnome ranger (Fey Wanderer); Sae Ivui Naïlo ("Poison Ivy of the Nightbreeze clan") a wood elven rogue (Swashbuckler) who started out a member of a homebrew rogue subclass I've created (https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/97010904), the Taurë Tavárii ... much like the Soulblade, but using thematic magic drawn from ranger/druid/bard/sorcerer lists to create a unique portfolio designed for woodland guerilla warfare and scout deception tactics; they also pride themselves in having just as much style as a swashbuckler, in a quieter and deadlier way); Ryshraxea ("Shra") Narathi, a tabaxi artificer; and finally, Rosri Zokrins ("the Wind Axe"), a dreamy-eyed firbolg paladin who's damn good with axes especially the underhand handaxe throw, and used the skill to support himself as a gladiator after his tribe came out second in a war with a tribe of trolls (character backstory includes training by his tribe's scoutmaster who noticed his potential with axes, and he was considering the ranger's path to take vengeance on the trolls, so might have one level of ranger or some sort of background tweak if there's some sort of feat like "Ranger initiate" for the half-casters to match 'Artificer initiate" and the like; and given the backstory I'm seeing Oath of Vengeance, Oath of the Ancients or possibly Oath of Glory for his subclass (the latter because of his starry-eyed dreams of someday being this grim, glorious and bloodthirsty mercenary in the Bloody Axes or a similar company in a world other than the Realms. when in actual fact he was the kind of gladiator who would chop at their opponent until they were beaten and then use more of his healing magic trying to fix his opponent's wounds than he saves for himself)
As a DM, I very much enjoy RP-heavy play but don't insist on it. I myself lean towards vivid descriptions and a sense of wonder and whimsy that can stretch to include some pretty dark fantasy elements too,
I've been playing and DMing since the very earliest days, back in the late 70s shortly after Gary Gygax had the idea of adding individual heroes to tabletop miniature wargames instead of the miniatures each representing a UNIT, and then had to make up the idea of adventures to give them something to do in between battles and lo and behold, D&D was born!
I'm not quite that old school, but when I started it was considerably before even what is known now as 1st edition. It was a red boxed set, called the Basic set; the alignments were very Moorcockian ... just lawful / neutral / chaotic, and chaos was assumed to be synonymous with evil because that's the way it was in Moorcock's books. Everything was much more crude; there weren't even any rules for outdoor adventures and wilderness travel, that came in with the EXPERT set they released 6 months or so after I started playing, What's now known as 1st edtion was then called ADVANCED Dungeons and Dragons, and was the first to be released as a set of separately sold hardcover full sized books instead of a box with several bookLETS in it. Stuck it out through the early days of 2nd edition, didn't like the changes I was seeing so I quit for a decade or two and played more storytelling-emphasis systems like the World of Darkness which I believe is now also handled by WOTC which has become kind of like the 500 pound gorilla monopoly of the roleplaying world; they bought out World of Darkness from the White Wolf company that used to own it; they bought out the company Gary Gygax the inventor of D&D founded to produce it ... it was called TSR and was a pretty heavyweight RPG behemoth itself back in the day.
Luckily I was only like 11 or 12 when I started playing, so I'm not all that senile either LOL. I'd love to play or help DM your game, but unfortunately I just don't HAVE Discord. My autism makes all these social interaction and social media platforms rather difficult for me, but I've managed to get comfortable enough on Tumblr to carefully try some of their live streams and have been considering expanding to Discord. Until I'm on it though I'm afraid I can only contact you on Tumblr, here or or the two other platforms I am on (Pinterest and Reddit)
To be clear, these are live Play-by-Post (that is, a set time everyone meets and plays in real-time) format, rather than people dropping in whenever they are able for a certain number of times per day, right? I just want to be sure I'm reading correctly as you mention being a setup meant for people with limited available time so they can drop in and out, but also referencing that there are specific windows of time for games.

How it normally would work is whenever the party access a mission, everyone is given a time limit to respond back to the post. If you don’t respond back to the post in time then you simply don’t play. You stay at HQ or wherever, take care of personal matters. Heal up. Something else. Your party continues without you.
You could at any point in time jump in. Responding back to the post, meeting up with your party in one way or another. Dropping out while in active mission, you just take a seat in the background. If the need arises, the DM takes control of you. If not, you just sit out. No harm no foul, expect if you do drop out during an active mission, you can’t just drop in and drop out at that point. If you don’t respond back at all, you just remain safe…Doing downtime activities.
If that makes sense lol. You’re welcome to add my discord and join in. We’re very small right now and I’m still currently building the server up, adding details and such but the more familiar you are and get involved sooner the better!
im so sorry MoDs I did NOT mean to reply back to individual, I meant to reply back to the topic!

Still not quite clear on this discord thing in general.
one, if its on discord why have a thread here? if we're playing by posting here, how can it be on discord also?
second, for someone who is not internet illiterate but POLYliterate, has seen so many ****** internets come and go that it's hard to keep track of them, and just to make sure i'm not making a fool of myself complaining about something when I don't have the real facts, what the hell is discord anyway and how do you use it to play d&d? And why does everyone and their uncle these days find it so difficult to just play here without hauling DISCORD into it and making your games inaccessible to people who don't have it or don't understand it?
we are out there and its not that we're stupid like we keep getting treated when we say we don't know something that's SOOOOO obvious to everyone else, we just don't have the technical knowledge of the current self-referential generation

Discord is fairly easy to use. Probably easier than dndbeyond forums.
Yes, but WHAT is is?
If its a live social interaction platform, which I kind of assume from the fact that everyone keeps referring to getting on it at the same time, then I'm going to have trouble with my autism issues even staying on the thing long enough to play without having a meltdown from having to interact with that many people I don't already know well for that long in real time

Edit: Oh, I see what you mean. No, I wasn't saying its harder to use, I maybe should have used the term "specialized knowledge" -- e.g. knowing what Discord is like everyone assumes you ought to without being told, when you've seen hundreds of websites like that come and go in their timw and kind of lose track of which is what and what they all do. And I'm not all that senile, I haven't gotten to retirement age yet, but the current generation, ti doesn't even occur to them there is and was a world beyond the narrow little one they inhabit NOW

Hi, I'm interested. I'm in UK but up during the night so time difference isn't a issue
