Sae breathes in deeply to steady herself as the huge dragonborn falls. After a moment, she turns and walks over to Areleo. "A mighty throw. We fight well together."
Turning towards the place where Hailstorm sits, she points to the fallen Bart, and then turns her left thumb upwards and her right thumb down for a brief moment. She finishes by looking him straight in the eye and shrugging inquiringly.
The Captain gives the thumbs-up to spare Bart. Though a harsh man, 'Hailstorm' is seemingly not going to foolishly throw away a powerful warrior for a single lost fight.
A couple of pirates take the Dragonborn away on a stretcher to presumably receive some medical attention... and possibly a 'friendly' discussion with the Captain about his showing in the arena. Sayyida has taken Bart's armor, and the pirates have a blacksmith who helps her to fit it properly. The blacksmith seems like a very tired, unhappy man. Most likely a 'recruit' who was pressed into service against his will.
The next few hours are what I can only describe as 'absolute pirate debauchery' as the rum and whisky are rolled out. The sounds of laughter, off-key sea shanties, and vulgar jokes fill the air. But you notice that Captain Hailstorm himself is nowhere to be seen after the fight...
What would you like to do?

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
Sayyida is pleased with her armour but somewhat morose about her showing in the arena.....should have healed yourself first then dealt with the poison.....stupid.....
She watches the murderers and butchers revel....part of her mind wants to remind her that some at least were forced into service but the blood of her family drips from all their hands regardless.....yet just when Vengeance threatens to roll over her completely the calming swell of the great dark washes over her bringing cool relief from the flames.
She turns to her companions, " Did any of you see where Hailstorm went?"
He dealt little damage to Bart, but managed to draw the attention of the man, that proved in battle to be far more dangerous in melee than in spellcasting. Emrys was ready to cast a Misty Step of his own when Sae and Arleo finished the enemy. The spoils of the fight were remarkable to say the least. Part of the terror the Black inspired came from his formidable weaponry. Alas, the pirate kept his life. Strong and deprived of treasures by us. That is one to be careful about.
“I say Arleo and Sae have the right to choose first and you did hold Bart’s aggression from us, Sayyida.” The halfing said understanding the frustration regarding the battle. He felt like he wasn’t even present for most of the fight. He did put a somewhat festive air during the commemoration and started to look around when the paladin mentioned the absence of Hailstorm. “I agree with you on regards to talking with the oh so venerable captain first. It may even become a good reason to find his location and study his surroundings.” Maybe it would create the opportunity they needed to capture the man. “By the way, what did you guys think of him? I mean, using an iron mask would be quite convenient to someone tried to pass by a dead man.”
Looking around to make sure none of the pirates are noticing, Sae whispers to Sayyida, "I didn't notice offhand, myself, but I have a few skills in finding things out. I'll see what I can do in the revelries as the 'drunken elf just got her first taste of whiskey'. " She chuckles quietly. "Can't count the number of times I've played that one. And that dagger would be very useful enforcing a bit of respect so the pirates don't feel safe going too far with it."

I'm going to assume that you're taking the dagger of venom then. I'll go ahead and add it to your inventory. Bart already used its charge for the day, but I doubt you're going to get into another fight before dawn.
(Yep, that's what she wanted. Wondering also if the other pirates could see that Bart used the charge ... I think Sae's gambling that at least some think it is still in her arsenal)

“I’ll take the silence as everyone thinking the same and take the chance to know our new companions better.” Emrys said as Wade took the periapt, a clear indication for the halfling to carry the cape. Normally he would decline, for he didn’t feel deserving of any spoils. His part in the fight was too small for that, which was ironically considering he was the smallest of the group. But Bart had taught an important lesson – there were strong foes there. Challenges far too demanding for reservations, they needed all the help they could get. “Never wanted to be a pirate, but we are in now. May as well make the best of it. Also, let’s keep an eye out for Merigar.”
On the last words his voice was loud and clear, hoping it would become common knowledge amongst the pirates that the newcomers started to accept their fate and wanted to make the best of it. And speaking of the best… Goldenleaf walked in the direction of the first place distributing any drinks.
“The strategist came for a mug.” Emrys said to whoever was handing the alcohol, hiding the fact that as a strategist he had failed his own plan. “Say, did you see Yevelda, anywhere? Half-orc lady, beautiful, with each biceps larger than my head.”Hopefully aware of the fate of everyone that didn’t take part in the trial, likely capable to point who was welcoming and who talked the most amongst Hailstorm’s man. “Name’s Emrys. You are...”
Wade will ask some of the crew their feelings about the captain. He'll look more for incidents than feelings.
Sayyida is emanating waves of pure hatred whenever the subject of Hailstorm is brought near her. She does mention something about doing this for her family but will not elaborate.
Chatting with random pirates, you slowly begin to piece together a few details about the Captain. Though some of the tales you hear are, to be frank, completely insane and probably total fabrications, there are several important pieces of information you learn:
1. He is an incredibly talented swordsman; in fact, Black Bart was formerly a captain until Hailstorm defeated him in a 1-on-1 duel. 2. He is a potent spellcaster, wielding strange shadow magic that unnerves the other pirates. 3. The Deathlocks report to Hailstorm and obey him without question. Every commander has several Deathlocks onboard his or her ship... and while they can be called upon in battle, everyone knows that their real purpose is to keep Hailstorm's subordinates in line.

The person passing out drinks turns out to be a waifish girl who isn't much taller than Emrys, probably in her mid-to-late teens. She looks a little bit out of place around here when compared to the rest of the pirates, and she has a distant look in her eyes.
"Mug for a strategist, you say?" she giggles as she pours you a frothing ale."Well, it didn't seem like yee were doing much else, so I suppose that makes sense. At least you didn't get bonked on the head like that scarface lady."
She takes a moment to pour herself an ale as well before answering your questions.
"Call me Tabby. Anyway, your orcish lady-friend is probably in that tent over there arm wrestling or playing some dice. Just watch out... I hear orcs like to play rough."
Tabby winks and grins.

“Tabby.” He said smiling to her wink. “My part on the strategy was making some things that could not be seen.” Emrys continued, taking a sip. It tasted like any drink would after two days as prisoner in a ship – absolutely fantastic. “Maybe you noticed that Bart could not use spells until I started attacking and even then he could not block all that went into his direction. All in time for him to find me in an isolated position.” Speaking that way, one could take his disjointed actions as playing the role of bait. “Sayyida was a great tank, I pulled him from the other attackers leaving them free to finish the job fast and forgive my indiscretion, but you look a bit too young for the crew. May I ask how you joined? I would feel more comfortable asking about the basic rules here to a fellow newcomer.”
Better yet, if she was forced there recently there would be no loyalty to Hailstorm. Ally, asset, maybe even someone to free from the crew. She was too young to be left amongst pirates. But that was a decision he could not take alone, a thought left for later. Hope Yevelda doesn’t get angry if people start to think that we have something.
Tabby smiles sadly as Emrys asked how she joined the pirates.
"Well... it's kind of a long story... but I'll try to tell it quickly. When my father died of the plague I didn't really have anywhere to go... so my uncle Rich, or I suppose I should say Commander Richards, took me in and let me sail with his crew. That was back when he was still an honest merchant captain... before he apparently went mad and decided that he wasn't making a good enough living the honest way."
She sighs.
"Well, like I said before, I didn't have anywhere else to go, and that didn't change when my uncle got gold fever, so I was just dragged along for the ride as he went off the deep end... now here I am."
Sae breathes in deeply to steady herself as the huge dragonborn falls. After a moment, she turns and walks over to Areleo. "A mighty throw. We fight well together."
