"Ah, I see. That makes sense. I simply wanted to see if there was anything else specific. One more thing."'Naut looks up at the Admiral, and though no expression can be seen, the tinted faceplate still gazes with formidable intensity. "What can you tell me about Captain Hailstorm. You are, after all, the man who sent him below the waves. You must have known him well, having hunted him for so long, meanwhile I have never even gazed upon his face, dead or alive." 'Naut looks away, down at the sea. "A shame. In all likelihood, the sharks rendered him unrecognizable first."

"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
In response to the question Emrys asked, Merigar thinks for a short second and then opens his mouth to speak. "From my time in the old family business i had a good friend who taught me and schooled me on the Arcane. My abilities have come to encompass the manipulation of the elements around me to produce powerful elemental magic to burn, crush, freeze, and more, so my combat abilities should suffice to elemental magic pain. Now it is true i may grow weary at times, so i keep my old shortsword with me for some protection but i never was very good with the sword, though i bet with some good training i could get better." Merigar takes out a small book from his pack and rights something down and then continues. "But if we are not talking about combat and general experience, i would like to think i would be considerably helpful on the boat. My extensive history of sailing, fishing, and more unsavory work has turned me into the man i am today."
The Admiral's smile wavers as 'Naut ask about Hailstorm. It is subtle, but there is pain in his eyes.
"As I understand it, the Captain was dealt a very difficult hand from early in life," he says after a moment's hesitation. "He was the bastard son of a rich man and a two-copper prostitute, disowned by his father and an unwanted burden to his mother. A pox early in his life left him with a face that was more scars than anything else... to be frank, when the sharks were done with him it was probably an improvement. Unfortunately, his pain turned into rage over the years and crafted him into a fine-tuned killing machine, with no mercy for a world that had no mercy on him. He was a cunning warrior who pushed all of us to our limits..."
He trails off for a moment, as if reliving some unhappy memory. Then he shakes his head quickly, as if to banish a thought.
"Honestly, I suspect that death was a relief to that poor bastard when it finally came," he continues. "And I hope he found some peace in the depths. Just know that I did what had to be done, and I took no pleasure in the task."
He reaches up and pats 'Naut's armored shoulder like you would an old friend.
"Now go on and get some rest, if you want I can send a guide with you to help find the inn. We all have a busy day ahead of us tomorrow."
'Naut nods and turns to leave, but before going they stop in the doorway. "I heard a story, once, on a whaling ship I worked for my passage on. A tale of a one-legged captain, and the scarred quarry he sought to slay. I..."'Naut pauses. "Nothing. His story is not your own. I only hope you may find the peace you wish upon the late Captain. If it is any closure, he... your battle may have cost lives, but it saved them too. 'Bloodshed above is bounty below.'"'Naut hovers for a second more, then leaves, heavy boots echoing into the distance.

"I myself will be drinking 3 or 4 before i go to bed just hope their is another dwarf around else ill end up in that sad drunken stupor i always get bent up in."
Whatever the case, Goldenleaf was satisfied with the new supplies and left with the others. Forget the Tide Runner, their very existence was enough to draw attention to their group. At least it’ll be easy to tie a heroic reputation, if we succeed.
“We can get free lodging with the vouchers in the letter about the next meeting. Also it may be a good idea to draw our roles in regards to fighting.”
Sayyida slapped her forehead, " Well, then thats sorted. I'll set up a tab for those of you who are drinking but myself, I will be retiring directly."
As they made their way to their accomodations.
" I have many things to think upon. "
" If we are looking to be crew, a sterling suggestion by the way, then I'm best positioned as 2nd or 3rd Mate or perhaps Boatswain."
The next morning, you all wake at approximately the same time and head to the common area for breakfast (I assume... correct me if any of you decide to do something else), which is on the house thanks to your vouchers. You have a few hours before your next meeting with the Admiral, where he will presumably present you with your ship and supplies. Now is a good opportunity for you all to discuss what positions you will take on the ship.
Merigar gets the heartiest breakfest he could, that includes lots of mornining vegitables, way to much bacon, and a few eggs. He sits down eager to chow down and ravenously devours the food.
"I do have quite the history of sea work, if you count my days as a fisher which was well about 50 years, and then add my 30 years of other work on the seas, then i would have about 80 years of experience under me belt, so i would nominate my self for the upper rankings for example Captain or First Mate. But if you find me to unsavory for that i could just stick to a gunner of sorts, slinging spells and such."
Aerleo arrives dripping wet but has all of his things with him and his armor on. "Aerleo has never worked a surface seacraft, and this one looks to be archaic. Aerleo will do whatever Aerleo is asked of."
As you all sit around chowing down and/or deciding who will do what on your boat, I'm going to need everyone to make a Perception check (if you roll under your passive Perception, I'll use that instead of your roll to determine the result).
He agreed to Sayyida in regard to leaving the discussion about positions for the next day, all the while taking note of ‘Naut abilities. Support… That must mean they have healing capabilities. As far as news went, that was a good one. Besides the two potions, there was nothing the warlock could do in that department. He was happy to make use of the voucher and happier still to jump into a proper bed. Sleep came easy and the hafling awoke hungry.
He asked for a breakfast and wished a good morning to every of his companions that arrived. Talk on the table returned to the matter of positions by a ship. Particularly he was more worried about positions battle, perhaps because he never saw himself as much of a sailor. Perhaps because knowing to handle navigation tools he thought himself suited only to be a navigator.
“I became a merchant after serving in a ship and have traded mostly by sea.”He said between bites. “I’m no genius but I now how to use navigation tools.”The words of Arleo surprised him the most. Maybe I thought too little of him at first. “When it comes to battle my abilities are entirely offensive. I can strike from any distance, but I would be most comfortable fighting from range and most useful attacking a target at time.”
Notes: Perception check rolled in the campaign Game Log (14 total).
So far, only 'Naut and Emrys have noticed anything... Spoiler for the two of them, and Gridolpho if he rolls 13 or better on his Perception check.
As you are finishing up your breakfast, you notice a group of four in the corner of the bar watching your group intently, two burly humans, a tiefling, and a rock gnome. Normally, that wouldn't be so strange... 'Naut is almost certainly used to people staring. What is strange is that their attention seems to be primarily focused on Merigar. These four look like they have a fair amount of battle experience, and are probably not to be messed with lightly.
