Seeing that he and Violet are in real trouble, and that the fight is getting rather sticky, Lozak's fingers work the axe even harder, leading into a distorted solo as he drops a suped up Bane spell on all five foes within 30 feet of him...
"Hang in there Violet, I'm trying!"
Casting Bane at 3rd Level, which I think targets all 5 of the bandits within 30 feet of the carriage.
DC 15 Charisma Save- On a fail, they subtract 1d4 from Attack Rolls or Saving Throws.
Bandit B looks at Violet as she persuades him to take her prisoner. He realizes he has never seen a creature quite like her before.
The Warlord shakes off the sound of Lozak's axe, apparently being far enough away for the music to not take hold and uses his long sword to cut deep into Ashtar, each swing making a connection with the fire genasi. (21 dam)
Pan swipes once more at the bandit in front of him, though he is irritated by the caster away from the group. The rapier swing goes wide (13 to hit) but Pan isn't deterred, as he rakes his claw up and down the bandit (22 and 23 to hit for a total of 17 slashing).
Using the bandits disorientation at the attack Pan steps back quickly (fancy footwork feature) and then crouches bounding his way silently like a stalking animal 35ft toward the caster to the north west, using his cloak of elvenkind to hide (bonus action, 16 stealth, and hostiles had disadvantage on perception rolls to see him)
The hyena's teeth draw blood on the bandit's throat and he reaches up to grab hold of his neck.
Pan's claws are a blur and when he is through, bandit A has crumpled on the ground.
The caster swipes his hands through the air, and an green arrow appears. He points towards the carriage and the arrow pierces the air, heading straight for Nekane, the hyena. Hitting it's target, the melf's acid arrow sprays acid on the hyena for 5 acid damage. At the end of Nekane's next turn, he will get a residual effect of another 5 acid damage.
Bandit C continues his attack on Lozak, though does keep a wondering eye on Violet, wondering what is going on over there. Even with the gnarly (lol yes, gnarly) music, the man manages to hit Lozak twice out of his three attacks (11 dam)
The Genasi's usual cheery expression wavers as the warlord reopens his magically healed chest wound. Another couple hits like that and he'll be finished. These fellows sure pack a punch for a bunch of bandits. Considering how well he is faring, Ashtar hopes his companions are doing better. He doesn't dare spare a glance towards the wagon, that kind of distraction could get him killed. He won't be able to do them any good if he dies now.
Then he hears the satisfying thump of a bandit's body hitting the ground, followed by the familiar sound of Pan scurrying to his next target. Smile rekindled, he narrows his eyes at the warlord. He needs to get rid of this foe, and take care of the spellcaster. Those two seem to be the biggest threats. However in the current situation it may be best to just take care of this one, then help those still in the wagon. He hefts his blade, "I must end you swiftly!"he yells as he brings his sword down on the warlord with a Branding Smite. (24 to hit using inspiration. 23 damage. Branding smite second level 10, for a total of 33dmg) "Once you are finished, all those who serve you will share in your fiery demise! I WILL SHOW THEM NO MERCY!"(Abjure enemy on Bandit B. Wis save 15 or be frightened for 1min.)
As Ashtar claims how he must end the man swiftly, the hobgoblin is coming up with his own retort... until the branding smite does him in, the sword slicing through the armor and through his body.
Bandit B watches in horror as one of his leaders falls to the fire genasi. Then Ashtar's words penetrate and fear grips his heart. Looking back at the beholder and wondering if the fear he is feeling is from her or the fire genasi and seeing his leader fall, he slowly backs away, pointing his scimitar and dagger first toward the paladin and then towards the carriage and back again. When he gets close to the treeline, he turns tail and runs (Violet can AoO if she wants)
Bandit D manages to avoid the acid spray from the arrow that hit Nekane and he goes back to attacking him, the music from Lozak's axe...making him miss his first attack, but the other two find purchase in the hyena's hide, drawing blood. (12 dam)
"Wait, where are you going Mr. Bandit? I thought you were going to kidnap me...?"
She sounds genuinely confused... but, well, there are more bandits, and Bandit B is no longer baring down on her.
Two of her tentacle eyeballs light and up with magic as she casts dissonant whispers, using Twinned Spell to hit Bandit C and D simultaneously with beams of psychic power. Both must make a DC 17 Wis save or take 10 and 15 psychic damage, respectively, and use their reactions to flee as far from her as their speed will allow. Half damage and no forced retreat on success. Also, I assume they're still under the effects of bane and must subtract 1d4 from their saves.
"Don't be so sad. I'm sure you'll be kidnapped again soon." Lozak says as the bandits turn to flee. He almost looks sad as he slowly looks toward the two fleeing bandits. Then he takes a moment to step out of the carriage as the strumming of his Axe slows...but only briefly. "Well, who is left out here then? Ah..."
As he spots the hooded figure and plucks one loud, high cord on his Axe, aiming the ringing power of the spell at the hooded figure as he strikes at it with Shatter...
Casting Shatter at the Hooded target for 12 Damage, 6 on successful save. DC15 Wisdom to save.
Nekane the hyena shakes himself in vain attempt to rid his pelt of the acid, snarling as Bandit D manages to land another hit on him. Stars above he isn't being very useful this fight is he? Perhaps he's loosing his touch... then again he really never could compare to the skills of his comrades. All he can do is his best and hope to survive.
Once more he lunges at the bandit, hoping to take him down this time... To hit: 16 Damage: 10
He snaps his teeth at the bandit's neck once more, hoping to succeed in tearing into his jugular...
Pan using the camouflage of his cloak of elvenkind and the cover of the darkness round him sneaks up on the lone cloaked Spellcaster to the northwest, jumping up Pan strikes the man through with his rapier, (17 to hit, 15 piercing) and then without missing a beat slashes twice at the man with his free claw hand, growling with feral joy as he does, (17 to hit, 9 slashing. 13 to hit, 7 slashing) of any of those attacks hit pan uses the rest of his movement to put some distance between himself and the man, positioning himself more northwest with the Spellcaster in the middle of pan and the group (bonus action dash)
After Pan's feral attack on the mage, he is bleeding profusely. He takes stock of the situation after Pan dashes away and decides it isn't worth it. Turning on his heal he dashes West as fast as he can.
Bandit C sees his leader run and decides to make haste as well, dashing after him.
After felling his foe, the fire genasi turns, seeking his next opponent only to find that they are all running away. "None shall escape my flames!" He shouts, then suddenly is enshrouded by fire appearing to disappear in a flash of light and a puff of smoke only to reappear 30ft to the west in another flaming flash. He runs as far as he can after the fleeing mage, then thrusts his left hand forward sending a torrent of flames towards the hooded figure. Unfortunately, he misjudged the distance and the flames fall short. Ash frowns, then tries again, this time managing set the mages robes ablaze...(19 to hit. 5dmg)
The mage looks over his shoulder as he hears Ashtar yell, and is surprised by the sudden appearance of the genasi so much closer. The flames Ashtar sends sets the robes on fire and consumes the hobgoblin within.
The remaining bandit (D), takes off after bandit C, dashing as fast as he can.
Nekane growls at the fleeing druids, his hackles raised as he very nearly gives chase to the lowlives. But instead he looks back at Violet as she says they should let them go. He lets out a disappointed huff before turning his muzzle towards Megan. For a moment, he considers staying in wild shape, just in case the bandits decide to come back--with friends. But it is very inconvenient not to be able to speak, so he reluctantly shifts back into his tiefling form.
"Well... that was fun. Can't say I was of much use but oh well," he offers a hand to Megan. "We should be safe for now at least. But let's keep moving regardless."
Satisfied that the hobgoblin has paid for his crimes, Ashtar hesitates for a moment debating on whether or not to chase after the fleeing bandits. Hearing Violet, he extinguishes the flames on his blade. Perhaps they had learned their lesson.
Panting a bit from his own injuries, he makes his way back to the wagon and places a hand on the beholderkin's head and forces himself to stand up strait despite the blood seeping from his chest. "You all did well my friends! Now if any of you need healing please do not hesitate to speak up!"
Violet sighs as the bleeding stops. Though she knows well that she needs a bit more time to really recover.
"Thanks... I was getting kind of worried for a moment there," she says. "Maybe we should consider putting steel bars on our carriage windows so that it's not quite so easy to reach in and stab people..."
Pan returns to the carriage, his claws reducing back into regular halfling hands though they remain coated in blood from the finger tips up to the elbow. He digs around in his pack and pulls out a tankard "ALE!" he yells at it, and it magically fills up with ale, "well I'm 'avin a drink a gettin back te sleep." He says to the group before draining the tankard and unceremoniously falling unconscious once again in the back of the carriage.
Megan breathes a sigh of relief now that the fighting appeared to be over. She looks around at all of you and in the varying states of injuries. "Should we make camp here to get rested up? Or can we continue on? I could maybe drive the mules? I've never done it before." She looks doubtful, but worried.
