Mei shakes her head and quickly apologizes to the older student, “N-No, you didn’t! Wrong feet—er, shoes—thank you-sorry-bye!” and scurries off after the others.
"We're sorry to disturb but we need to see Professor Lang urgently. We are students of hers and there has been an incident that she needs to be informed of." The purple-skinned Tiefling explains with a firm but polite tone.

"Oh. I didn't know it was why he was there", Guardok replies to Piero as the walk. "Still getting used to this place", he adds good-naturedly.
When the Halfling opens the door, and Malvyn asks to see Professor Lang urgently, he holds up the image he took of the frog-like footprint. "We were hoping she can identify this", he says hoping to help.
The Halfling glances briefly at the footprint that Guardok presented. "Sure," he says to Malvyn. "Come this way and you can talk to her." As he walks you can hear him murmuring about the image. "Amphibian. Hmm... bipedal I think." He leads you a few steps down the hallway to an open door, which looks to lead to an office. There is quite an extensive collection of books and scrolls about the room. And sitting at a desk you see Professor Lang.
The Dryad looks at the group of all of you gathered at the door. "Hello! Come on in," she says, waving for you all to enter. "Must be quite a question of a bunch of first-years trekked all the way to Widdershins Hall!" The Halfling tells her, "They have a footprint they're trying to identify. Oh, and something about an incident." She then looks to the group for their explanation.
Guardok happily presents the map with the image of the footprint on for the professor to look at.
"We found footprints like these by the pond near Firejolt Cafe, and...well.... Malvyn will probably explain what happened better than me. But it would be great if you could tell us what it was that made them".
The purple-skinned Tiefling gives the genasi a quick smile and a curious glance. Was he good at explaining? Well he'd better try his best then. "Well, we don't have nearly the full picture yet Professor, but just a little while ago some friends found four colourful frogs by a pond and decided to use them for a frog race in the Firejolt Cafe. When the race was over the four frogs suddenly grew to gigantic proportions and got aggressive. Our brave friends Mei and Knap..." He says, motioning to the oracle and the satyr. "...both got wounded in the ensuing fight but only the frogs were killed. We found some black goo that someone probably fed them to transmute them, likely the same kind of black goo we found on the chest that animated in the Biblioplex on the orientation day. Professor Sharpbeak was informed and she has the other sample of black goo." Malvyn says, taking a deep breath before continuing. "Anyway, we checked the pond where the frogs were found and we found some prints there, one was this amphibian print that Guardok is showing." He finishes, looking curiously between Professor Lang and the print.
Professor Lang looks at the image from Guardok, giving a nod of her leafy head. "I would wager that the footprint belongs to a Bullywug. Kind of a... frog-headed humanoid." She then looks over to Malvyn. "Interesting that you mention giant frogs. Bullywugs are known for talking to and even training Giant Frogs to be guards or even mounts. Though you said they were normal sized and then grew?" She then grows quiet. "You all think that this could connect to what happened at Orientation? IF Professor Sharpbeak already has a sample, then perhaps she is the one you should speak to about this new sample you have."
"Yes, we will see Professor Sharpbeak as soon as we are finished here Professor."The purple-skinned Tiefling answers the Dryad. As Guardok asks about Bullywugs Malvyn chimes in. "I understand there are many students and teachers frequenting the universtity grounds but a Bullywug might have been noticed, it should be possible to track it down for questioning don't you think? I suppose we could reach out for any observations through the Strixhaven Star."
"I can't say that I recall any Bullywug students. But Professor Sharpbeak could probably get you a more definitive answer." Professor Lang replies to Guardok.
"As for the brightly colored frogs, you say they later changed to giant size?" the professor continues. "Can you tell me more? There really aren't any brightly colored frogs around here."
"Well, we're not yet sure of course, but the frogs might have gotten their colours too by the black goo, at least the colours vanished and they reverted back to their normal size when they were slain."Malvyn suggests as if just realizing this. "Would the colours have any significance would you say Professor Lang? I believe they were of the colours blue, orange, violet and red if that is helpful."
"The colors might be useful. If we were trying to identify a specific type of frog," Professor Lang says in response to Malvyn. "You may be right that if something caused their transformation it might not mean much." She does write down the colors you mention though. "I can research a little, see if this matches anything." She looks around at everyone. "Was there anything else? I can let you know in class next week if we find anything."
"Thank you Professor, I think that was all for now." The purple-skinned Tiefling says, looking over at the others to see if there was anything else that should be brought up now, otherwise ready to proceed to find Professor Sharpbeak which should supposedly be found either at the Biblioplex or the Silverquill college.
Guardok looks around at the others and shrugs, "I have no more questions". He turns to look at the professor, "But thanks for your help".
He starts to back away, but slowly in case the others have more to say. He is certainly going to keep a look out for any frog like humanoids from now on.
Knap’s heavy brow frowns in contemplation. “Hmm, no questions from me Professor.” He’s heard of Bullywugs but never met one oddly enough. “Right, I think I’m gonna head back to Dresar hall for a rest. My butt hurts from the frog bite.” Knap blushes “Pardon me Professor.” He bows and goes to leave the room.
Mei likewise has no other questions. She thanks the Professor for her help and gives a little bow as they all leave the office, using Malvyn as a shield as they pass the firbolg she stared at earlier.
She chews at her bottom lip, deep in thought as they make their way out of the Witherbloom campus. More than once she suddenly stops in the path to write something down in her notebook or pull a card from her deck.
Pieroalso nods to Professor Lang, "Thank you. We'll be on our way." Everyone is then on their way out, headed back towards the central campus. "On to Professor Sharpbeak?" he asks. Malvyn, with his job in the Biblioplex, has noted that Sharpbeak has an office there. That seems mostly likely where she could be found.
Guardok is quite enthused by the investigation at this point.
"Do you think that this will make for a good story in your newspaper, Mal?", he asks as they travel back to central campus. If the others walk slowly, he will often find himself a little ahead and having to turn around and wait.
"Yes, on to Professor Sharpbeak."Malvyn answers Piero with a small smile. "Her office is at the Biblioplex so we should try to find her there." He adds, setting his course for the Biblioplex. As Knap leaves for Dresar Hall, Malvyn gives him a wave, then glancing over curiously as Mei stops and makes notes, or pulls one of her mysterious cards. "I would like to hear your thoughts on all this too Mei. Does the cards tell you anything?"He asks with a sincere and friendly smile.
"I hope so..."The purple-skinned Tiefling answers Guardok. "...but Mina will have to decide. Either way I hope what we've found out will be helpful to Professor Sharpbeak. These incidents seem connected and we should expect more incidents caused by the black goo. We don't know the Bullywug has anything to do with it of course but I feel it would be worth a try to track it down for questioning." He continues, he too clearly enthused by the investigation, his fiery red eyes even seeming obsessive about it.

Mei's lips twist to one side at the suggestion of speaking with the owlin, her note-taking paused.
Guardok nods as Malvyn explains what happened. He knew he would do well, he was a reporter after all. He gives his Tiefling friend a thumbs up.
"A Bullywug?", he repeats. "Are there any Bullywug students here? Could the footprints just be a coincidence?", he asks the professor.
