Verri grew up in Tedroy, chasing up and down Upper Swandham Lane with his mates, peeking up skirts, picking pockets, that sort of thing. Being about as smart as the average halforc Verri kept getting caught by the Watch. He was mostly able to talk his way out of anything more serious than a couple of nights in the cells or a few lashes...mostly. And during his stints in the cells he started realizing the food wasn't half bad, the cells didn't leak, and for the past year or so the beatings he'd been catching were coming more from his mates than the coppers. So, the morning after one horrible stormy night, he snuck into the neighbourhood station into the boss copper's office and asked to join up.
This sounds like a lot of fun. I've KSd all of Metis Creative's products because I'm very interested in playing D&D somewhere other than a Middle-Earth clone, and I was even a playtest DM for them.
YOUR CHARACTER:
Name Aamira
Race Human Variant
Class Fighter
Background Acolyte
Backstory She grew up in a small village in Al-Haz, the daughter of a renowned cleric who loved her, and secretly wished he'd had a son instead. That wish came true a few years later, and her parents devoted their time and energy to raising the next generation of clergy. Aamira channeled her pain into martial prowess, determined to show her parents that she was just as worthy of holy pursuits, believing deep down that the love her father showed her in early life would return, and that he'd be able to intercede on her behalf when the time came. But her father instead recommended her for the mosque guard, reminding her that the will of God transcends all other desires. A few years later, her younger brother joined the clergy, with their father's backing.
Her father believed that, in his own way, he was providing for both of his children, but though Aamira has excelled in her duties, the sting of exclusion and the wish for more still remain.
If I'm accepted, I'll roll for abilities and such.
Not too bad for a Dex fighter. She won't solve many mysteries or lead any social interactions, but if you point her at a target, she'll kill it. Time to make that character sheet. :)

Pretty good spread. If this game becomes a thing and you are selected, I would be happy to re-roll the 7 and/or 8 for you, but you would have to accept the new roll, even if it's worse. This is a courtesy I give all my players. But if you're happy with them, that's cool, too!

Thanks, but I've already re-rolled them, in an earlier post. I had a 7s on both, and got a 7 (again) and an 8 on the re-roll. My d8s let me down, hehe, but that's ok. No need to have a superhero. More fun to play a character.

Bumping this up so it stays visible. Would really like to see some more applications, especially for an arcane spellcaster (wizard, sorcerer, warlock, etc.).
He was an urchin on the streets, and was a good kid but kept to him self most of the time. He took odd and often dangerous jobs. He found he liked living on the edge. He taught himself to read and studied hard. When he was young, he feel ill, deathly ill. The local temple took him and tried to nurse him bath to health. His fever lasted for days. Hope was fleeting fast as his pulse dropped lower and lower, till finally his heart stopped. To him time stood still. He was on an ocean, but not of water but time itself. The mechanisms and interworking of time itself became evident to him. He woke with a start and sat straight up nearly giving the nurses around him a heart attack. He fully recovered but was changed. He had joined a few groups but found they were just murder-hobos. He has tried to go it alone but found himself in over his head too often. He's looking for a dependable team to join up with.

Name: Antar al'Barmeqi
Race: Goblin
Class: Warlock (The Genie: Marid)
Background: Criminal / spy
Backstory: Antar was dying. He had been banished to the Great Desert to die, and he had always been good at doing what he was told. True, perhaps he was a little selective about WHAT instructions he obeyed, and okay, fine, they generally were the instructions of Basha Qadim, his oily robber chieftain and would-be player in the games of information and intrigue swirling around the Caliph's court; and true, they generally did involve some knowledge or treasure that didn't exactly belong to him.
But this last instruction had come from the Caliph himself, it arose from his overly trusting obedience of the Basha's commands, and it was quite simple and gave him few options but to obey. They had ridden him out camelback far enough to see to that.
"THOU ART BANISHED TO THE DESERT FOR THY CRIMES AGAINST THE DESCENDANT OF THE PROPHET'S UNCLE, AND THE RIGHTLY GUIDED CALIPH OF AL'WAZIF. THERE, THOU WILT DIE."
When he first saw the sheen of water spreading over the sand, he knew the end was near. The closest oasis was a hundred miles off, this must be the creeping madness that accompanies death by thirst. Then he heard the deep flowing voice, 'I HAVE CHOSEN THEE. ARISE; THOU WILT LIVE.'
Thanks!: This sounds so wonderful! Thank you very much for taking the time and effort to put this together

This is a good entry… except that Harengon isn’t one of the available races for this one-shot. Please take a moment to review the original post and select a more appropriate race for the character. Thanks!

Great entry! I had a lot of fun reading the backstory.
Couple of notes, one a minor detail, and one that might add a bit more spice to it.
Minor detail: the monarch of Al-Wazif is a Sultan, not a Caliph.
Potential spice: Al-Wazif does not directly border the Great Desert. A camel ride to banish Antar there would have had to go through either the Great Forest of the elves (where outsiders are less than welcome), or through the Christian land of Caithness (where chivalric intrigue abounds between warring barons). Have fun with this info!
Great concept! Very Dickensian.
I really like this backstory!
Thanks. It feels like it fits the world you're trying to create. And it sounds like a lot of fun to play. :)
I'll try out your ability score system. If I understand it correctly:
Dex: 15
Con: 12 + 5
Wis: 9 + 3
Str: 2 + 3 + 7
Int: 3 + 1 + 3
Cha: 4 + 2 + 1
Re-rolling my 1s for Int: 3 + 2 + 3 and Cha: 4 + 2 + 3
So I've got:
Str: 12
Dex: 15
Con: 17
Wis: 12
Int: 7
Cha: 8
Not too bad for a Dex fighter. She won't solve many mysteries or lead any social interactions, but if you point her at a target, she'll kill it. Time to make that character sheet. :)
Oops, I forgot I get to re-roll my 1s for Dex and Wis, too. So new Dex: 16 and new Wis: 8 + 2 + 3Edit: those can't be re-rolled, per your rules, because I spent dice points on them. Nevermind. :)
Pretty good spread. If this game becomes a thing and you are selected, I would be happy to re-roll the 7 and/or 8 for you, but you would have to accept the new roll, even if it's worse. This is a courtesy I give all my players. But if you're happy with them, that's cool, too!
Yes, please, thank you =)
