Korba approaches the boat with a bit of quiet awe, just taking in the sounds and smells of the sea and sun, now grateful for his tinted lenses to help his eyes deal with this brightness. Aboard the ship he finds a hammock to place his gear near, other than his sword of course, and then does a cursory tour of the ship, looking to see the many ways a ship like this is different. Though he's not been on large ships like this, he has been on the underdark sea. Once he realizes who Rhaenys is, he wishes her a good morning and corroborates the story of her having paid to the captain.
Hewelathan breathes in the salty air and quickly gets his "sea legs" again once the ship is underway. When the ship is out of port and has set sail, he informs Captain Blythe that he has experience working a ship as an able bodied sailor and can stand watch if needed. He has less experience as a rigger, but he has some abilities that would make him quite quick at climbing the rigging in an emergency. "I don't want to get in the way of your crew,"he says, "so I'll stick to the passengers' quarters. But if you're in need of an extra hand on deck, just let me know, and I'll check in with the first mate."
Hewelathan tries not to commit to either of the guest rooms right away. He prefers to wait to see whether any of his friends is looking queasy. If so, he'll try to make sure that he's in a room with the fewest seasick companions.
Rhaenys looks at Korbagratefully, appreciating his support. Remembering all those times she mimicked Fey nobles to sneak into their parties, she bows very politely to the half-drow, and though it doesn't look bad at all the changeling knows all too well that this specific display of etiquette would have risen a few untrusting eyebrows back in her native plane. (OOC: performance/deception 13)
- Seems I will need to go over my etiquette, I'm loosing my touch! Anyway, thank you, Korba! - the eladrin says, smiling lightly. Then he turns back to the captain and adds cheerfuly - See? Definitely not a stowaway!
(OOC: Puny sorceress will cast mage armor when we reach high seas. She'll do this every day. Perhaps not first thing in the morning, to make the most of the 8 hour duration, but she'll definitely want to have it active every day - hopefully before entering any possible combat. I've marked today's use already).
Tytus comes rushing to the ship, as he feels he might have overslept a little and thinks he is late already. After coming on to the ship he is wet from sweat already, since he was running carrying all his stuff (and he has little STR so his carrying capacity is almost full :P). Tytus greets the captain: "Good morning Captain Blythe, here is my payment for the voyage (hands over 45 gold if i remember correctly) this is my first time on the ship and i am glad it can be on yours. I will go and accommodate to the quarters first if you don't mind."
Tytus will chose a room quickly, he will pick the one where there is fewer people before him, so he could pick the spot that he feels is best for him.
During the voyage i think Tytus is bound to get at least little seasick as it is his first time on the ship. he will try to counter that with casting false life on himself as much as possible (duration 1 hour - but it is his eldritch invocation so he can do that at will as much as needed). When he gets a little used to the feeling he will spend some time in the room with his book.

Jodie skips cheerfully to the large boat, stopping at the dock to take in the air and wind of the sea, "Smiler, now you be good while we're aboard the ship alright?" Jodie laughs to herself, wondering if she's picking up the habit of talking to her magic item from her companions.
Jodie greets her companions as she passes and tells them to "meet her for a chat in her room when they set sail." She adorns her room door with a colorful scarf to indicate hers. When the ship is underway and the group arrives, she recounts her conversation with Captain Fox
"...it sounds like you've had the misfortune of running into the Order of the Dragon," the Captain sighs. "...they're trying to free some ancient dragon that nearly conquered the world around two thousand years ago... if they've got their sights set on you then be wary indeed. Their spies could be anywhere... and not all of them are willing collaborators. Their leader has been known to put a dread curse on innocent people to force them to serve him."
"We best keep our eyes and ears open. Perhaps you folk more attuned with sensing magic could take a stroll about the ship. See if any enchantments or illusions are about."
Jodie winks, then flops back onto the bed. "I could get use to this."
- Oh sh** - Rhaenys mutters - That sounds bad. I mean - the autumn eladrin says as his eyes wander around the companions faces - it is bad enough that they can have access to all those "collaborators". But then that means they could put that curse on us too...?
He stops a moment to consider the implications.
- ..with all these powerful objects at our disposal? If they were able to put that curse on me ...
"... we wouldn't be able to do much about it..."
- ... we wouldn't be able to do much about it...- Rhaenys mutters in perfect synchronization with Stafford. No one else has heard him, of course, but the rest can see how the sorcerer is looking wide-eyed at the staff in his hand.
Rhaenys then looks back to Jodie and says:
- S-sure. Sure! Count on me to check that out during this journey. And after we land, of course. Luckily, the detection spell is won't tire Stafford at all. Right, buddy? - he adds, looking at the staff.
"Buddy!? Hmmmm! I like it. Makes me feel like a young staff again!"
Flinn, after reciving his friends with a happy smile on his face, the first one they had seen on him, leads them to their quarters.
He chuckles and replies to the now eladrin changelling "You have no idea my friend..." in a whisper too.
When the matter of something wrong going on in the ship he says " I do think that we are safe here... but I could take a look if that makes you feel bettter..."
- Yeah, why not. Let's go together and take a look, yes? I'll cast the detection spell as many times as necessary. Maybe we'll discover something of interest! Hopefully not charmed people. All right, let me try here first. Let's see...- the eladrin says, as he prepares to cast the spell. Then laughs a little and adds - hehe ... quite literally.
He then closes his eyes, hits twice on the ground with the end of Stafford and when he opens them again his irises have turned silvery, replacing their previous brown. Eladrin-Rhaenys then cocks his head as he looks towards the companions and squints a little:
- Hells, you lot sure are shiny! - he exclaims. The party is obviously packed with magic items that are now giving a shiny magical aura - Okay, shall we, Flinn? Anyone wants to come with?
(OOC: I guess we can take the guided tour of the ship and cast Detect Magic several times and see what we perceive. Having done this, Rhaenys might now know the ship better and she could do this by herself the rest of the days if necessary.
PS: Does she see any other interesting magical aura in the party apart from their magical items? Or in the NPCs?)

Hewelathan says, "That's a good point, but if there's not much we can do about it...." He shrugs and wonders how long it will take any of them to learn enough magic to be able to break such a curse.
Hewelathan says, "What they said about this 'Cult of the Dragon' makes sense and seems to match with what we've seen from Firion and heard from Lady Elora about the Dragon Lord Sserrah Nightbane and her ancestor. If the Broken Lord of the Shaded Isle is who we think he is, then he'll be able to tell us more about this legend." He isn't happy about their situation, but there doesn't seem to be much to do. Rhaenys can keep checking for cursed crewmen, and they'll just have to hope that they make it to the Shaded Isle without incident.
Feeling claustrophobic in the room after the talk of cults and spies, Hewelathan goes out on the deck to enjoy the sights and smells of sailing as he watches the shore recede toward the eastern horizon.
- We could at least try to make sure that none of us are alone for too long. It's not a failsafe against anyone trying to curse us, but in case it happens the other companion might realize and warn the rest. I will try to remember this... I know myself well enough to know that I'll probably be the first to forget this suggestion ... - the changeling says, scratching his head as he says the last sentence.
Flinn walks alongside Rhaenys and have a little conversation with Truthseeker in his mind. The sword, still a little bit offended that he left him outside the captain’s cabin last night, finally guide the novice paladin into channeling his new powers to discern the true nature of those around him. (Using divine sense )
As they go strolling along the boat deck, Rhaenys' silver eyes are looking towards almost every direction. Though he's looking for any sign of unexpected magic effects around them, to anyone looking it wouldn't really strike as weird since it is so obvious this is the eladrin's first time on a boat, and an enooooormous one at that.
While this is happening, he also chats with Flinn:
- You talking to Thruthseeker there? Don't you think it's a pitty Truthseeker and Stafford can't chat among themselves? I wonder if they would get along. Can you imagine? - and the eladrin begins to imitate what he thinks could be Truthseeker's voice, deep and stately - "And this good-for-nothing Flinn invited the captain to have dinner? Can you believe it? At a time like this?" - and then he changes to the voice he knows as Stafford's, which is definitely softer than Truthseeker's and perhaps a little more ethereal - "Ah, my friend! If I started telling you about this girl's poor choices in life, we wouldn't be hearing the end of it!""Why were we cursed with these two? Among the million of people on the face of Toril, why these two?""Indeed! Hmmm, what would you say to a game of chess?""Chess!? I am a master at chess""Oh? Tsk tsk, I don't think so. I AM the one and only master at ..."
All of a sudden, Eladrin-Rhaenys changes back to his own voice as he exclaims:
The paladin, alerted by this sudden change, turns to look to his companion and follows the changeling's gaze. There isn't much there, some boxes, a seagull, a couple of men doing their chores. Nothing spectacular enough to be worthy of summoning the Summer Queen of the Fey, right? But then, Flinn hears in his mind:
"IT WORKS! It actually works! I mean .... sorry ... didn't really expect .... that young man over there ...! Not that one. The one on the left. I SAID LEFT, FLINN. Yes, that one. He's under some powerful Enchantment spell. Now, I cannot say if this is the same Jodie warned us about. But I think we should warn the rest. And Blythe. Uhh, what do we do? Uhm, wait. Act as if you've seen something super interesting on the sea. Are those dolphins? Look at them, so cute!"
Rhaenys then looks back towards where Hewelathanis apparently enjoying the scenery, so the sorcerer says in his mind:
"I think I got one!! A sailor under the influence of a powerful Enchantment spell. Not sure if it is THE spell. But ... go tell the rest. And bring Blythe, will you? We need to warn her. Because we can't just go doing anything weird to the captain's staff in a ship we've just boarded right??"
Back to Flinn he adds:
"I've warned Hew. Let's wait here till he brings Blythe and not loose sight of that guy, ok? Just... act normal till help arrives."
- So, did you really tell Truthseeker that you would be turning him into a SPOON? Ha! Amazing!- the eladrin says aloud, trying to "act normal", and bursts into laughter.
"On a side note: I AM truly a master at chess. Also, 'IT WORKS' '? Really? Have a little faith in your sorcery, if you please."
Because we can just go doing anything weird to the captain's staff in a ship we've just boarded right??"
Hewelathan was looking out over the sea and not watching Rhaenys. He really didn't expect her to find any enchanted sailors on this ship. Therefore, he jumps when he suddenly hears Rhaenys's voice in his mind. He looks around the deck until he spots them and looks toward the Eladrin while thinking his reply: "Right. The captain and her officers are responsible for the crew. And unless the sailor is doing something dangerous right now, there's no need to act yet. Just keep an eye on him while I tell the others."
Hewelathan returns to their rooms and if he finds any of their party still there, he says, "Rhaneys has found someone, maybe a spy, under the influence of a spell. No, I don't know more than that. Don't do anything yet, but be ready for trouble, just in case."
Hewelathan goes back out to try to notify Captain Blythe. If he sees Captain Blythe on deck, he'll go to her directly. If not, he'll check the captain's quarters first. If he cannot locate the captain on deck or in her quarters, he'll ask first mate or the most senior officer on the deck for help: "I need to speak with Captain Blythe. Now. It's important."
Once Hewelathan is face-to-face with Captain Blythe, he tries to ensure that there aren't many other sailors around. Once he gets her mostly alone, he says, "It may not surprise you, given our destination, that my friends and I are tangling with some powerful forces. We have learned to be careful and suspicious. Flinn and Rhaenys -- the one who now looks like an eladrin elf -- have discovered that one of your sailors is under an enchantment. We need your help dealing with the situation before the sailor becomes a danger to us or your ship. He might not be a willing collaborator, but he may be under a powerful spell that compels him to act as a spy (or even an assassin) for a dangerous and evil cult."
The Captain's brow furrows with worry upon learning that one of her crewmen is under the influence of dark magic...
"The bastards dared to target one of my men..." she says, suddenly sounding far more serious than she has up until this point. "I need you to tell me right now everything you know about this cult... what do they want with you? I'll have my security officers take the afflicted individual into custody so long as one of you can point him or her out."

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
The Captain's brow furrows with worry upon learning that one of her crewmen is under the influence of dark magic...
"The bastards dared to target one of my men..." she says, suddenly sounding far more serious than she has up until this point. "I need you to tell me right now everything you know about this cult... what do they want with you? I'll have my security officers take the afflicted individual into custody so long as one of you can point him or her out."
Trusting that Rhaenys and Flinn have the situation under control for now, he briefly tells Captain Blythe what he can. He explains: "We don't fully know. Here's what I can tell you quickly. My friends and I have each, separately, come into possession of powerful magic. The gods have recently thrown us together -- and just in time! Because, apparently, there is a cult that wishes to steal that magic and use it in their own dark rituals to restore the mad Dragon Lord Sserrah Nightbane, who was defeated 2,000 years ago. Why? I don't know. Probably because they're a crazy death cult who wants to end the world! We only just learned these things a couple of days ago, and we don't really understand the forces that are moving against us."
Hewelathan tries to make it clear that they haven't put her Captain Blythe in danger on purpose. He says, "The priests of Ilmater recommended that we sail to the Shaded Isle to learn more from one whose knowledge of such ancient, arcane things is unmatched. We wouldn't go to such a place but that our need drives us there. I'm sorry. We hoped to make the journey without incident, but it appears that our enemies were closer than we thought. Now, it's possible that the enchantment on your sailor is unrelated to us, but I wouldn't bet on it. He may be here only as a spy and to report on our movements, but since we've already run into a powerful wizard and an evil cleric, I assume the worst. Even if the sailor is just an unwilling thrall to some powerful wizard, he himself may be in danger and in need our help."
Once Captain Blythe is satisfied, Hewelathan will glance toward Rhaenys and say, "Flinn and the eladrin are keeping an eye on the sailor, and I don't think that we've raised any suspicion yet. I'll stay here, at a little distance, but my friends and I all stand ready in case there's trouble."
Hewelathan returns to their rooms and if he finds any of their party still there, he says, "Rhaneys has found someone, maybe a spy, under the influence of a spell. No, I don't know more than that. Don't do anything yet, but be ready for trouble, just in case."
Tytus immediately after hearing this warning feels very uneasy. He is stressing out for about 12 seconds. But then comes to his senses and regains most of the wits. "Right, let's where this will lead to" he says to himself. Then he concentrates and speaks a magic word: "trefnytoja"and punches his chest hard at the same moment (casting False life as his eldritch invocations so it does not uses a spell slot and granting himself 6 temporary hit points for an hour). Then he leaves gets invisible and goes patrolling the deck trying to be around all of his companions or at least to have them in sight.

I'll sing with honey and he'll talk."Jodie hops up, a little more alert now. "Now where is Korba? I'd like a sparing partner and never seen anyone wield a blade like that."
When Jodie finds Korba, she addresses him, "Your blade is a longsword, but you wield without strain. I'd like to hone my skills with the blade. A girl has got to sometimes rely on other means to get things done, but being sweet doesn't suffice." Jodie proposes meeting at dusk, as they both can see in the dark.
"I'd be happy to spar with you Jodie,"Korba says to his companion. "Though every teacher will tell you to make your sword a part of yourself, mine is both my bane and my boon. It strengthens me while also paining me. Do not expect quite the same connection, but strive simply to feel as if the weapon moves with your thoughts. And perhaps our sparing will distract the spy enough for others to find something about them."he adds quietly at the end.

Ha! Amazing! - the eladrin says aloud, trying to "act normal", and bursts into laughter.
"On a side note: I AM truly a master at chess. Also, 'IT WORKS' '? Really? Have a little faith in your sorcery, if you please."

Tytus immediately after hearing this warning feels very uneasy. He is stressing out for about 12 seconds. But then comes to his senses and regains most of the wits. "Right, let's where this will lead to" he says to himself. Then he concentrates and speaks a magic word: "trefnytoja" and punches his chest hard at the same moment (casting False life as his eldritch invocations so it does not uses a spell slot and granting himself 6 temporary hit points for an hour). Then he leaves gets invisible and goes patrolling the deck trying to be around all of his companions or at least to have them in sight.

"I'd be happy to spar with you Jodie," Korba says to his companion. "Though every teacher will tell you to make your sword a part of yourself, mine is both my bane and my boon. It strengthens me while also paining me. Do not expect quite the same connection, but strive simply to feel as if the weapon moves with your thoughts. And perhaps our sparing will distract the spy enough for others to find something about them." he adds quietly at the end.
