I was thinking of making a Tiefling Bard...
Ability scores: 101110171412
Character Name: Sirron Ravenblood
Race: Tiefling
Class: Bard (Subclass- College of Eloquence)
Background: Gambler
Backstory: Sirron came from a family of mostly spellcasters, his mother was a well known sorcerer while his father was a bard as well, he was never really around much but whenever he did come home he would tell Sirron and his older brother Lyndon stories of the places he'd been to. While some of the stories were truly hard to believe Sirron couldn't help but be curious when his father mentioned Strixhaven. He'd heard it mentioned when he overheard his parents were talking about his and Lyndon's futures. When they found out that their oldest wanted to be a fighter they were disappointed but accepted his choice. Now that only one of their children showed interest in magic both his mother and father did what they could to make sure he didn't end up losing interest in it like his older brother had. When he wasn't practicing Sirron would sneak out of the house and go play cards 'with friends' when in all actuality he was gambling to take the stress off. As time went on he began to make bets with himself as to if he'd end up getting yelled at for not studying enough or because he'd accidentally caused a mess due to a spell backfiring, normally ending with the latter of the options.
Description: Sirron is an intelligent, kind young man who deeply cares about his friends and loved ones although sometimes he can be a bit skittish around new people. There are times when he gets so caught up in what he's doing that he will forget to eat or drink unless somebody reminds him to.He is 5' 8", has messy shoulder length black hair, horns that spiral upwards (the left one is fully intact while the right one is broken) and eyes that look like amber. His skin is a pale shade of red and he has a tendency to dress in a slightly flashy manner. (It's not super over the top but you may have seen him in a purple undershirt, black vest with silver buttons, a brown overcoat, black trousers, a cravat with a red stone attached to it and boots.)
RP Example:
There was a faint knock on the door causing Sirron to jump out of bed with a startled expression, after a couple seconds he uttered a few curses underneath his breath before slowly pulling himself up. 'Who could it be at this hour?' He thought as he began to compose himself to answer the door. With a somewhat sheepish smile he sauntered over to the door and opened it a crack to see who had woken him up. When he saw his older brother standing in the hallway with a letter in his hands a confused expression replaced the earlier startled one.
"Brother... what are you doing here at such a late hour? Please don't tell me that something happened to mum and dad." Sirron said with a soft sigh. When he noticed the smile on his older brother's face he raised a brow slightly before slowly stepping out into the hallway. Lyndon shook his head slightly and raised a brow.
"It's noon time Sirron, but that's besides the point." Lyndon replied as he watched Sirron running his fingers through his messy hair. He chuckled softly before gently poking his nose with a small smile. "Mum and dad are safe. Hopefully it's something good... you could use a little light in your life every now and again." After that he handed him the letter and Sirron offered him to come inside so they could read it together. As he held the door open for Lyndon there was a momentary silence before he stepped into the room.
They sat down on the bed beside each other and as Sirron opened the letter an excited gasp escaped him. "This is... no way... I..." He trailed off as he dropped the letter and fell back onto the bed. A few seconds later he burst out into laughter and while this happened Lyndon glanced down at the letter with a somewhat proud look on his face. "I can't believe that I actually got accepted."
"It is a little surprising but I never doubted you." Lyndon added with a soft smile before gently ruffling his hair. "That being said... I should get going soon. It's almost time for the shift in guards and I'm almost certain that the captain would have my head if he caught me away from my post again."
I think he means everyone can reroll or use point buy.
Everyone can reroll all there scores once if they don’t like them (you can use the prior scores still if you like them better than the new scores) or use the point buy.
Melancholy is the fifth daughter born to her house and the most disappointing of the lot....at least in her mothers eyes....its not that the young lady is dim-witted.....just......easily distracted........and far too interested in vampires for anyones comfort, her bedroom is festooned with posters of luminaries of the vampire world such as Strahd, Vlad Tolenkov and Kas when her mother would rather have it decorated with alchemical tables and mineral charts. Her mother refuses to call her Melancholy opting instead for her birthname of Dewi.
Melancholy applies herself diligently to her studies.......sometimes....though to be fair most of her time is spent daydreaming and writing fanfic......and thinking about vampires...
" Hush, child. While you are under my roof I will do as I wish.........you certainly seem too....", there was a deep sigh outside the door. " Did you complete and mail your application? And include the letters from your Uncle Chaudry, he is a very important man. They will take his recommendation seriously."
" Yes. And I also included that enchanted water colour you had commisioned of me in Nanis sari as well.......Ugh!"
" Well, you know I need to chase you for every little thing, you are the most useless child....all your sisters have completed their studies and are married to important people while you just swan about the house with your unattractive black clothes and......well, at least you are avoiding the sun I suppose....."
" Oh, speaking of your sisters. Bhavna has invited us to her wifes birthday party this weekend, I have of course told her that we will both be there. Your outfit is hanging in your wardrobe where that terrible velvet thing was."
"Mother!!!"
Two Weeks Later........
" Your acceptance letter to the school has arrived it is on your nightstand."
" You opened it?"
" Of course. I am after all the entire reason they accepted you.....certainly your academic achievements weren't the reason."
" Mother I got straight As."
" Now, now......lies do not become ladies of standing. One of those had a certain little minus symbol attached did it not? Terrible...."
" UGH!!!!! I hate you."
" I love you too, Beti. Now get ready we are going shopping for proper outfits for you to wear at Strixhaven.....none of this gloth-loli or whatever muck you have smuggled into my house."
"Oh, hello", says the blond in the pink dress and umbrella in a slightly embarrased tone. She covers her blush with her hand and speaks with the equivalent of an upperclass british accent as she says: "I'm Primrose Perianth. Of the New Burgundy Perianths." She sighs and looks sad. "Kind of". Then perks right back up to her chipper self. "I'm SO glad to be here at Strixhaven, as I believe it will help my goal. I'm determined to be the first to discover the secret of life...;ITSELF! That will allow mortals to heal and restore life to the fallen. I hope you'll add me to your group of heroes, I'll do my best to be worthy of inclusion." She gives a nervous smile, waiting for the response.
A goblin infiltrated the Perianth Manor and entered the children's room by mistake when Primrose was only 7. She said "Run Away or I'll blast you cause I'm a wizard!" As the goblin laughed, she threw an oil lamp at it and screamed "FIREBALL!" The house guards had more trouble putting out the fire than dealing with what was left of the goblin. That was the start of her obsession with life and death. After that, she was "Daddy's Little Princess", though Mother wanted her to marry her off to a prince. She got mummy and daddy to agree that if she passed the entrance exams for Strixhaven. Mummy was sure that adding the caveat that she'd spend her inheritance on it would see her properly married. But Primrose hit the books hard, until...
"EEEEEEEEEE!!!" Lord and Lady Perianth ran to the door at the sound of Prim's scream. Surely it wasn't another goblin. They found Prim jumping up and down for joy because the mail had just been delivered.
"I WAS ACCEPTED! MUMMY, DADDY, I WAS ACCEPTED! EEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!" She leapt on them for hugs, one after the other, until her mother recovered enough to say: "But dear, remember our agreement. You spend your inheritance on the school. You'll no longer have the rights of Nobility."
"I know mummy. I'll miss you and daddy. Goodbye." (big hugs)
Thus, Primrose went to Strixhaven and gained the Witherbloom Initiate background from her diligent study.
(Note the over the top exuberance is because of the occasion. I don't play her as THAT annoying)
Description of your character: Primrose is an almost perpetually cheerful blonde, who wears colorful clothing (usually pink, but sometimes she wears other colors for a change) who placed her Arcane Focus rod into the shaft of an umbrella. I also have images of her in the closest I could find to a Witherbloom uniform.

Backstory: Coming from noble origins, one might not expect Trill to be as interested in the natural world as she is. But from a young age she’s been seen hiking, exploring, and just having fun in nature. But when Trill encountered a Druid at the age of 11, she knew she had found her calling. At dinner the next day, she asked if she could be an apprentice to this Druid. When her father said no, Trill snuck out, and ran. She found this Druid in a meadow, and asked for him to teach her Druidic magic.
For the next year, she learned to interact with nature, in many ways, from manipulating water, and shaping earth, to healing with magical berries and forming weapons out of ice. She also learned to protect herself with a scimitar and shield. When her teacher thought that he had taught her everything he could, he sent an application to Strixhaven in her name.
Description of your character: Trill is intelligent, wise and charismatic, outmaneuvering her peers in almost all mental areas. She is a tall Half Elf, with pale skin, red hair, and green eyes. She has a lot of freckles, and is very skinny.
Class: Warlock (The Fiend) (Future Level Three Sub-class: Pact of the Chain)
Background: Acolyte
Backstory: Born from the Womb of Matixca Vaxhaven as a way to celebrate the being they all chose to worship, Alatar from birth was blessed with an intense connection to the, Unsavory, being they worshipped. Living in a large temple his whole life gave him room to run around and explore. Sadly, those loves were cut away from him when his time for worship and Practice of Magiks came around. Despite all of these rather...I will not say negative, but un-kind, things surrounding him. Alatar became a rather kind, cheerful, STABLE. Young Man. He had never really experienced school in his lifetime. The teachings of the Temple were what he knew and always fell back on. Even though he was quite the Magician his mother still disapproved of his optimistic outlook on life. Warning her son to not get his hopes up to high or They might as well come crashing down. Yet, he still kept his head held high and his Smile wide. Though, Underneath the grown exterior. His mind and personality resemble that of a 10-year-old child. He becomes distracted easily and excited and interested over the most bland of things. His attention span may be a tad shorter than what most people would like. However, what's not to like when you have a cheerful, kind, perhaps a tad annoying. Half-elf to talk with?
Description of your character: Alatar stands at 5'7 and has a rather Mediocre build. His clothes resemble that of a priest with robes and symbols adorning them. His hair is that of a Bright Golden Blond and his skin is that of a lightly tanned. His eyes are colored to the exact same shade of Dark chocolate and his Nails seem to be slightly painted a assortment of colors including Pink, Green, and Blue. His Ears are slightly shorter than regular elves and he's slightly not as built as regular humans. He's got the good parts of them to though! Just Give him a minute to think of what they are. As his fellow temple mates would describe him, "He has a smile that outshines the sun, and the personality to equally shine as bright!" Though he just is a optimistic and hygienic person...Luckily.
RP sample: Alatar currently sat outside the Temple playing with a stick, Pretending it to be a sword. Despite his age he still acted like a child. He danced around and did his own sound effects, a little "Whoosh!" Here and a "Slash!" There. He spent most of the day out there waiting for his Application to come back. Before long he returned inside the temple with his roes rather messy. This slightly angered his mother but she digressed. Pulling out a small Letter she presented it to him.
Praise Yourself Child. You may have been accepted. The Mother slowly said, Her voice rather worried, yet calm at the same time.
Alatar opened the letter and spent no time reading it. Rather skipping over it to where he had been accepted. He smiled and screamed, his voice slightly hoarse from the sound effects he had been making outside. He looked at his mother and smiled.
Does the acceptance mean a hug Mother? He had yelled as he went to wrap his arms around his mother.
No. She sternly spoke. Having her left hand hold him back from her sons warm embrace.
The Talk was over and he ran off to pack and prepare, He would need his books, his toothbrush, His glasses, and His fake fur mustache that he made...Yes he would need it.
Backstory: Drix's family has always been his troupe, never knowing his parents, his troupe is all he knows. Many might think that a changeling would be something of an oddity, but the truth was that he fit in with the band of misfits that made up his troupe. He was an incredibly talented actor from his youth; being a changeling was part of it, but he also had a remarkable ability to change his mannerisms and tone to become his character completely. Even outside of acting, he swapped between multiple personas frequently enough that it became hard to find out which persona was actually Drix. The older he got, the more talented he became, he even became something of a celebrity within his troupe. That was before the dreams started.
As an older teen he began to enter a strange realm in his dreams, one that would be strange to most, but felt natural to him. The more he dreamt about this place, the more real it became. In his dreams, he spent most of his time talking to a strange entity. This entity refused to give Drix a name, no matter how many times it was asked. He felt strange connection with this entity, and began to perform little favors for it. These favors didn't seem to serve any real purpose, and were simply little pranks (such as sneaking an excessive amount of spices into everyone's food) but whenever Drix did one of these little favors he was given a little reward in the "real world". These rewards tended to be a strange and unique object or a little bit of magic. But then the favors got bigger, and the rewards got bigger too.
The troupe quickly became frustrated with Drix's increasingly dangerous pranks with little no explanation (he was careful not to mention his dreams). When Drix told the strange entity about this, the entity pushed him to leave the troupe. It wasn't easy leaving his only family; but the entity promised great gifts, so he left, as foolish as that decision might have been. The entity found a new home for Drix. Strixhaven.
The entity seemed to think there was something it wanted very much at Strixhaven, and pushed Drix to apply. Guided by the friend in his dreams, he applied. Maybe this school would be his new home.
Description of your character: Drix is used to changing is form on a whim; but he learned not to reveal his identity to those outside of his troupe, so he will stick with one of his favored forms, an older teen with curly blonde hair and bright blue eyes. Someone observing Drix closely, even when he is trying to hide his identity, can notice that his form changes in little ways depending on how he is feeling, the same is true for his tone and mannerisms. Despite this; he is still a practiced actor, and is good at hiding this.
RP sample
Drix looked at his reflection again; blue eyes, blonde hair, and pale skin. It was almost perfect, but he needed this form to be perfect. His form changed in a few small and subtle ways; his hair became a little shorter, his eyes a little brighter, his teeth more aligned, and his features softened slightly. He wanted to look like someone who belonged at Strixhaven...but he didn't want to draw too much attention to himself. He examined his reflection. This was perfect. His friend had promised him that he would be accepted, if that was true his letter should come today.
He left the bathroom and descended down old steps, briefly glancing at the details of his temporary house. The house was a little boring...nothing like what his troupe had been like, but his friend had promised that Strixhaven would be even better. Hopefully it was right. He heard a knocking on his front door. He unlocked and opened the door to reveal a postman. He looked a little nervous and his hair was slightly disheveled, the man was clearly in a hurry. "I...I have something for you." the man reached into a bag full of envelopes and eventually pulled one out "Sorry I'm late, I did..didn't know I was delivering a letter from Strixhaven. Guess I didn't expect anyone from this place to get a letter from S...Strixhaven, not that I mean any offense at all...sir." Drix took the letter, he guessed his eyes were getting brighter, the postman probably wouldn't notice, people usually only see what they expect.
Of course, just because the letter was from Strixhaven didn't mean that he was accepted, but he found it hard to imagine Strixhaven bothering to send a letter to a place like this if it wasn't a letter of acceptance. He almost forgot to address the postman. "Thanks, I was beginning to think nothing would come." The postman mumbled something an left, Drix quickly shut the door. He didn't want anyone to see him getting taller.
He tore open the envelope and unfolded the letter inside, his eyes scanned the neat handwriting. He was in! It was time to leave for his new home.
(Additional Note: There wasn't as much of an opportunity here, but I wanted to play around with Drix slipping into different personas throughout the campaign if I'm accepted.)
-Backstory: Velius insists that his dad is a dragon and tries to bring it up almost every conversation, especially when meeting new people. of course, people don't beleive him. that tiny kobold? the progeny of a mighty dragon? perposterous. thing is, Velius is right. born to the cheiftain of a kobold clan, when he was just a baby, giants enslaved his clan and demanded a sacrifice, so the kobolds gave up Velius, left him on a rock to be a slave/snack for giants. A dragon found him and took him in, teaching him the way of the dragon.
-Description: Velius holds himself confidently, proud of his "papa" and his draconic heritage. he is very small, standing just over 1 foot tall, but his large personality more than make up for it. he constantly buffs and shines his silver scales, to the point it almost hurts to look at him, and woe betide anyone who gives him a reflective surface. his huge eyes are bright blue and very inquisitive
-RP Example: I need some time to write it, will be within the next day
RP Example:
the nervous postman approached the cloud-top palace, its swooping marble spires casting shadows in the afternoon light. Two huge iron doors stood before the quivering delivery-person. just before he knocked, the 20ft tall doors flew open with such force they caused a resounding "BANG!" that probably caused an avalanche somewhere. standing in the doorway was the smallest kobold ever. his proud bearing almost offset his 1ft stature, as his scales gleamed like the polished silver of a prized trophy, nearly blinding the poor postman.
"It came? oh! It came! yesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesYES! finally! It came" the kobold snatched the letter from the deliverer's hands, then ran inside. "your tip is not getting eaten!...." and the doors shut with a clang. The kobold rushed through hallway after hallway, till he finally came to the Grand Chamber. "Papa! Papa! It came! my letter came!" exclaimed the kobold, waving the picce of parchment in the face of the massive wyrm before him.
"Oh, it did? Very good, Velius. are you sure it is an acceptance letter?"
"It has to be! what else could it be?!" Velius was vibrating so much he feared he might explode.
"well then, how about you open it?" the dragon said serenely, although Velius was already shredding the envelope. scanning the paper, he shouted. He got in!
"IdiditIdiditIdidit! Wahooo!" the kobold proceeded to sprout wings and zoom around the chamber in joy. eventually, Velius crash lands into a pillar and falls to the ground, dazed. the wyrm simply shakes his head sagely, laughing at Velius's antics.
"Now Velius, do you remember your task?" the dragon asked, looking down at his adoptive son.
"yes papa, I do. make friends with the... the... who am I supposed to make friends with again?"
"your are supposed to befriend and become close with the influential families of Strixhaven. make them trust you."
"got it! thanks Papa! Imma go tell the village!" Velius rushes out, grabbing his snowboard.
"aren't you forgetting something?" the dragon asked wryly.
"huh? oh yeah! I gotta go pack." with that, Velius rushes out, heading for his room.
Note: Velius will arrive to Strixhaven riding on his "Papa" dragon.

Character name: Drix
Race: Changeling
Class: Warlock (Archfey)
Background: Entertainer

RP Example:
the nervous postman approached the cloud-top palace, its swooping marble spires casting shadows in the afternoon light.
