You enter the palace doors, a long hallway lined with doors, all of which are guarded by a soldier wearing red and gold decorative armor. The hallways have a red and gold carpeted floor with paintings of important people and events along the walls and large glass chandeliers hanging from the ceiling.
"When you are ready, you may enter the door at the very end, leading to the throne room. The king is pleased to see you. It's sad how few signed up to help him, we'll make it worth it for you."
(This first post is just making sure everyone is here. Do anything right now.)
Thrudor walks in using his staff as a guide helping him across the room. He walks with a bit of a hunch. His clothes are ragged filled with soil stains and other various stains from nature. His hood is down revealing his lizardfolk features....green skin, gray eyes, no hair. He looks around at the others and smiles "I'm sorry, I walked in with you all and didn't introduce myself. I am Thrudor of the Keepers of the Woods."
A guard by one of the doors quietly laughs at your ragged stained clothes.
"Nice to meet you, Thrudor." Another guard says, reaching out his hand halfway, wondering if he wants to shake your scaly hand. "So, what made you come here?"
Thrudor gives the guard his hand mistaking the handshake for a helpful hand walking. "Thank you young man for the help. These rocky corridors can trip up an old lizard like myself. I have come from the north to warn about what I have seen and heard. I am sure his excellency has heard of the dangers of the north but I thought I should travel here as quickly as I could to tell him myself."
A gruff, elderly man walks slowly into the room, taking in the sights with sharp eyes. His grey hair is in a mess, and his beard is scraggly. He pulls a brown cloak around himself, dirty from travels. He nods to Thrudor. “M’names Jak. Don’t worry ‘bout apologizin’, I’m just glad there’s a job that can get me some coin.”
Titus suppressed his surprise down to the barest hint of a raised eyebrow, deliberately nodding stoically toward the two figures. "Greetings, Thrudor, Jak. My name is Titus."
The former marine wasn't one to disrespect his elders--in fact, he wasn't entirely sure these two actually qualified--but beyond his greeting, he remained silent even as he discretely scrutinized both slow-moving figures. He almost doubted they were to be his companions; at a glance, one might guess they'd be more of a burden than a help to the job. Fortunately, years of experience had taught him not to judge books by covers, even when the urge was strong, and especially in a world filled with magic.
Following habit, Titus stood motionless as he again mentally checked that his equipment was in order; chain mail, greatsword, shield, and adventuring pack were present, all of modest value, but also well-maintained and of suitable quality. The fighter's dutifulness satisfied, he turned his head to examine the door at the end of the hall, and considered proceeding straight to the throne room... but he instead paused, relaxing a bit as he decided to take a more casual approach and wait for any other participants to arrive.
A Rather Prideful Human took far to many Longsteps to the Door, It was obvious. This guy was a cocky person. He looked at the people near him and Laughed. Looking forward toward where they walk to. A guard gives a strange look to the Elias, then looked at the elderly people he walks up to Titus, who appears to be the most sophisticated in this guard's opinion. "So, what brings you here? Money, fame, need an adventure... I need some adventure right now, I just guard a door."
Cunning makes his way through the door he's been pointed to. He makes quite a striking figure although not overly tall or muscle-bound, but it's hard not to be noticeable when your skin is red and you have rather large horns. He's wearing furs and leather, carrying a large maul, all of which look well-worn but also well cared for.
"Greetings, I am Cunning Green-moss" He looks around the room noticing the splendour but not seeming overwhelmed by it. He moves to join the small group in the hall, "I assume we are to be working together, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance."

Titus responded to the guard with a friendly smile. "Money and adventure, to be honest," he chuckled. "Don't get me wrong, my time in the marines was worthwhile. But I just needed to move on, especially if I was to find my fortune and settle down."
The fighter leaned in conspiratorially. "That said... considering how valuable your role as a king's guard is, it wouldn't surprise me if your wages are higher than mine were in my day." He then gave the man a jovial, but light slap on the back. "So don't knock your position too hard. Still, with as few people showing up for this job as there are, if you think you have what it takes, I'd certainly welcome you to the crew. But again, I'd only recommend it if you think you have what it takes." Titus then gave the man a knowing look. Still friendly, but one that asked him to be sure before joining the dangers of an adventurer's life.

"Finally, another warrior!" came the thought as the adventurer held out his hand to the newcomer.
Following a bit after Cunning, Anasfyra pranced into the room, her colorful dress fluttering in her wake. She would appear to be a normal elf, save for her odd coloration and particularly thin physique. Far from a normal elf, her skin was a soft green, matching both her eyes and her hair.
The Eladrin skidded to a stop near Titus and Cunning, glancing curiously at the tiefling before gracing all of those gathered with a joyous smile. Clearing her throat, she visibly stilled herself, taking on a more noble mien.
“I’ve not arrived late, have I? Preparing for an adventure is greater a task than I had realized.”

The guard smiles. "Well, this is just a shift. Every few hours we switch out. The elite guards only come when there's a threat."
Thrudor smiles at everyone "Hello there. It is a pleasure to meet you all. I am Thrudor for those of you coming late. Is this everyone that is gathering?"
Titus bowed slightly towards Anasfyra. "A pleasure, miss," he said, not prying for a name that the clearly-highborn elf had not offered. He straightened himself, then smiled and clapped the guard on the shoulder before heading into the throne room.
“It is wonderful to meet you all,” Anasfyra curtseyed slightly, nodding to Thrudor. “You may refer to me as Ana.” She glanced at Cunning once more, this time holding her gaze on him.
“I’ve never met a cunning patch of green moss before. Especially not one that appears red. I believe I prefer you to the moss I have met, though.” The Eladrin spoke, uncaring if he was actually listening or not. She’d began fidgeting in place halfway through her words, finding it difficult not to keep active. By the time she finished, she was swaying slightly in an imaginary breeze while her foot tapped excitedly on the floor.
The invitation to enter the throne room almost couldn’t come soon enough for her. Without waiting for a response from the tiefling or listening for any further conversation, she skipped over to the next door, following Titus inside.
Jak watches as Ana skips along. “She seems friendly enough,” Jak comments to Cunning. “M’name is Jak. Pleasure to meet you Cunnin’. Just a word of advice,” he says, leaning close and looking at Elias, “Somethin’ tells me that he’s a bit crazy. Best keep an eye on him.” With that Jak slowly walks to and though the door.
The king stands up from his throne. The throne room is smaller than you'd expect, although expensive, with silver weaved into the walls. The king is a high elf, only 5 feet tall, with 2 half-orc bodyguards. "My pleasure to meet you all." The joyfully exclaims. "A little sad we only have you 6, but it's the best we got. You're all aware of our situation, I assume. It's the middle of May, but winter is spreading from the north. We may have a while before it reaches here, but we have trade partners facing trouble. Something dangerous is happening, and that is why I brought you here. I'm sending you to the city of Cynthesia, which is near the jungle in the west. You will meet with the leader there with this message. Do not let anyone but him see it." He hands a small leather journal tied closed with red string. "Travel west until you enter a thick forest, and from there travel north. And please, watch out for beasts."
A dwarf with a red beard going all the way to his thigh steps towards the king. "My lord, in case they turn on you, you know what happened last time, show them their payment." The king nods at this. "The nobles sometimes have money in other kingdoms in case we need a payment for someone far away. When you talk to Cynthesia's king, give him the book, and he will give you 100 GP each. I will give you 20 GP each now for your journey." One of the king's bodyguards hands each of you a small sack of 20 GP.
Cunning opens his mouth to reply to the elf, but before he can get the words out she has disappeared through the door. He looks at Jak and winks "I have heard the same said of myself before now". With that he gestures towards the door, says "Shall we?" and walks forward.
