Driven from lands farther north by more powerful dragons, a young white dragon named Cryovain has descended upon the Sword Mountains, claiming the snow-capped range as its domain. Typical of its kind, Cryovain is dim-witted and cruel. The dragon patrols the skies around Icespire Peak, surveying its territory while hunting for food and easy treasure. With each passing day, the dragon’s domain grows as it ranges farther across the land, preying on anything it can catch with its claws or freeze to death with its icy breath. Sightings of the dragon are becoming more common, as are its attacks.
This is the second time I've recruited for this campaign so I'll leave a link for the original post.
Some players left for personal issues and others are MIA. I'm looking for three level 3 characters to join the party once they return to Phandalin from their missions. They have currently completed two main quests (Dwarven Excavation and Umbrage Hill). We currently have a wizard and a cleric. The sorcerer, druid and barbarian (for now) are gone.
No evil alignment characters or worship of evil deities.
I'll allow the use of Sword Coast's Adventurers Guide for character creation in addition to the sources mentioned on the link before (it has locations and extra deities to choose from).
I will be interpreting Rules-As-Written (RAW) the way I see best makes sense. So if following the rules will be a major issue for your character or for you as a person, please don't apply.
When I say that I will allow both starting equipment and starting wealth, I mean that your character will have the starting equipment suggested by the class and background, plus, you can roll for the starting wealth and add it to them.
For this forum, please share a character sheet link, tell me who your character is and their background. Why are they in Phandalin? Where did they come from? What is their goal as an adventurer?
Skif had been a pirate for as long as he could remember. He never knew his mother or father, but he felt the captain was his father and the crew his family. He picked up various skills on the voyages from others and in ports they visited. Last month as he was resting in his sling below deck he was started by a creaking thud against the hull and then the ship tossed from side to side like it had run a ground. He skirred up onto deck to see his crew and captain jumping overboard. He called to them but none replied. He looked out and saw they had run around on something in the water by a nearby swamp. bobbing out in the mire will will-o’-wisps. He watched in horror that shook him to his core as his whole family sank beneath the swamp. After recovering a bit he took a ding and searched but to no avail. He then headed to land and made his way to Phandalin where he is looking to find work.
Grikiltha was working for a minor crime boss as a enforcer. On a shake down gone wrong, Grikiltha and a few others almost got caught up in trap setup by the local authorities. She was able to sneak out without drawing attention, unlike most of her comrades. The few others that escaped accused Grikiltha of being a snitch and that's how the authorities knew when they would be there and manage to get out as easily as she did. Knowing the trust between her and her employer would be broke after that accusation, she split town and traveled to Phandalin for work as she had heard rumors of adventures be hired.
Spongebob Metalpants, also light hearted and dim witted but definitely not cruel. Rode my way on some sort of land vehicle through icy mountains listening to the whispers of a conch shell to provide directions, funny how I ended up here in Phandalin. Patchy the pirate was my sugar daddy until a cave collapsed on him and now he's gone. Alone, and currently out of work with no job, am seeking employment to look for treasure to use for my next jewelery design collection. Doesn't matter if I have to earn it, steal it or take it, something going to get made and I'll finally get my chance to be a famous jewelry designer.
If you don’t mind, what subclasses are the wizard and cleric? If I submit a character I’d love to try and fill a different “role” in the party than what’s already present. Also is it correct that Tasha’s subclasses are not allowed, or was that an oversight on the original post?
Pinja heralds from a long noble family, unfortunately she’s the black sheep - an unseemly indiscretion of the eldest son and a tiefling. Even though she is without the distinguishing tail, her fangs, horns and eyes are enough to mark her as other. Making her an outcast. It is her mission to reclaim the lands and title that she believes belong to her as the eldest child of the eldest child.
She makes her way in the world convincing people that worthless junk is worth their hard-earned money. And is especially keen swindling the powerful. She never runs the same con twice, reveling in the mental challenge of doing something new. Sarcasm and insults are her weapons of choice. But if push really comes to shove, she’s a student of the monk ways of the drunken master.
Pinja finds herself in Phandalin after a particularly hairy con. She sold a ‘love’ potion to a corrupt duke and found herself needing a quick exit. She hopped on the first boat, destination unknown, and a rough voyage later found herself on this cities shores.

Tempest Domain cleric (me) and Scribes Wizard (MrJanuary.)
Darien has lived most of his life in exile or seclusion after a terrible accident in his youth killed nearly half of his village and left one of his arms terribly scarred. It wasn’t his intention, nor really even his fault, but the elders blamed him for the fire and banished him. A kind elderly druid named Sarreth took Darien in and helped him gain better control of his magic. Over time, he learned that while fire could bring pain and destruction, it also brought life and renewal. Since his 17th birthday, Darien has wandered the forests of Northern Faerûn helping maintain the balance of nature with his druidic magic. Now, nature is threatened by a force that even Darien cannot stop on his own. He has come to Phandalin after hearing word several towns over that a fair number of adventurers pass through here from time to time, and he is hoping to find help in confronting this new threat.
When Uthik was 8 years old, his father died in the mammoth hunt. His widowed mother was subsequently claimed by the Git-Tiku tribe Chieftain, who abused her unkindly as a 'lesser wife'. Young Uthik was raised to become another of the Chieftain's personal guard, but he was scrawny and small. As he grew up, watching his mother cruelly mistreated, he burned with rage, but instead of following the frenzied ways of the Goliath berserkers, he turned inward, to self-discipline and patient endurance, pursuing the stoic path of the monk. When Uthik turned 18, he refused to join the Chief's guard, and instead challenged him to solo combat for the right to free his mother. Uthik lost decisively, and was forced out of the tribe. Humiliated, he wandered the peaks of the Sword Mountains alone until the young white dragon's ever-expanding territory drove him to seek shelter farther away, eventually arriving in Phandalin. There, he adopted the Shrine of Luck as his ad hoc monastery, befriending the elf maid who tends the stones, and awaiting another chance to prove himself and, hopefully, regain his honor.
More than 3 people have applied, so the thread will be closed. I will make another post when I have chosen the characters that will be joining the adventure. @groverbloom can still make a new post with the character sheet and details about their character if still interested.
Sorry, just saw this now. Thanks for offering the extended deadline but you have plenty of great choices already so, if you haven't already, don't wait on me to make your selection!
Everyone, thank you for applying! And don't be discouraged if you were not chosen. If I ever have the need for new players (or if the chosen players decide we're not a good fit), I will simply come back to this thread and invite someone else.

Should folks post their recruitment here or on the link/original recruitment?
Here is fine for application posts.
