(I'll assume Crispy joins as well then, probably busy with her new campaign.)
At the east gate, the beach is to your right as the open plains are to your left. The road winds on for quite a while until you see it disappear in a forest. The walk there is quiet, open roads are bad for banditry and are fairly populated by people going to the beach. Yet as the beach ends and the forest starts, you can feel the humid air as the forest thickens and the land beneath you softens. And as you walk, you feel the road become more wet and sticky just like your clothes. A mist starts to roll in as the forest starts to become a marsh, more mushrooms and wetland animals appearing. A slightly pungent smell sticks about as further ahead you see a small settlement, set on an elevated part of the marsh. An iron pole sticks from the ground as it holds a sign bearing
Gasp follows along, enjoying the sounds coming from the nearby beach. He even mimics the distant sound of the waves crashing onto the beach. Coming into the forest, he calls back to the various sounds the birds in this location make. And finally, when they reach the marsh, he scours the grounds for interesting looking stones with odd coloration and varying textures.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As Hatt walks along, he tries to mimic Gasp mimicking the sounds of the forest and ocean: Performance11
You know Gasp, you make that look so easy. Do the birds answer when you call them?
He also looks around for nutritious mushrooms, foraging for their evening meal and taking care (he hopes) not to pick anything with poisonous or mind-altering effects: Survival12
Hmmm, I don't reckon I know a lot of these mushrooms. He holds up a particularly large one with red spots. Anyone know if this is edible?
Gasp’s beak hangs open for a moment as Hatt whistles out an excellent bird call! Was Hatt a Kenku in a former life? He gives Hatt a nod and mimics “..the birds answer”, and then happily starts making all manner of bird calls!
Crispy stared at the beach for most of the journey until the humid forest was entered. She had urges to simply grab Ashley by the hand and run away, an impulse she fount violently back because of something called teamwork, friendship, and commitment. Then the forest became a marsh and she got more and more cranky by the minute. She almost slapped the mushroom out of Hatt's hand, as that would be the last thing she ate even if she was starving.
She lowered her hand down with obvious effort. "Don't eat those things, who knows if they're bad for you, or not. Haven't we all done enough throwing up for a lifetime?" she said, remembering the boat ride to, and back home.
Hatt notices the rise and fall of Crispy's hand. Thank you for your restraint, you were less merciful with a juicy orange I remember fondly. What did food ever do to you, that you harbour such violent intentions towards it?(Hatt will ready the dodge action as he says this.)
Listening to Gasp's myriad birdcalls, Hatt smiles. This is so much better than being on the sea. Fish are so quiet, and cold, and wet. I mean really, what is the point of them? Anyway, I guess we're headed into the Mire Mists, whatever that is. Know any marshland birds, Gasp?
If no-one objects, they head into the marsh, following the path.
"Food?" Crispy snorts, "That's not food. That's what food EATS." she snarks, wishing she was eating pork, or chicken, instead of what the forest had to offer. "You wanna eat mushrooms, go ahead, i'm just looking out for you. And stop leaning away from me, i'm not gonna slap you."
"I'm not gonna slap you" He mimics, and then he mimics Ashley's laughter. After that, he gives a careful listen to see if he can pick up on any indigenous bird calls in this wet and smelly place. He thinks he hears something and so, he holds up a finger to try and get Hatt to wait. He calls out in the form of a Marsh Ren perhaps and then listens to see if one answers.
Ashley quietly enjoys the conversations unfolding before her. Though she wishes she had prepared her boots to be water proof. marshes reminded her of trenches and Ashley fought of a moment of PTSD as she remembered her first experience with trench foot.

Hatt...you feel fine. A bit odd feel to the mushroom but otherwise, you are fine.
The road is lit by torches on sticks as the day comes to noon. They guide the way as the mist starts to thicken. As you walk along the road, up ahead you can see a hulking green figure. And as you come closer, you can see the scales on its back as it has a makeshift bag on its back. It's tail drags behind it as it walks.
(I think we're all headed to the city gates, if everyone's on board?)
That's a lot of healing kits, Ashley, notes Hatt. I guess we're prepared for anything now. I wonder what's happened to this poor boy.
(Added kits, took 5 plats, all good. And just to let you know, each one has 10 uses.)
Gasp sidles up with the rest of the group and nods eagerly. He's more than ready to get going on another adventure!

The two whistle back and fourth with the birds, an soothing symphony to walk to.

Hatt halts, and listens to Gasp's Marsh Ren call. Is there a response?
"Hatt smells.." Crispy squawks in Ren, covering her mouth trying to hide that she's speaking.
