No one seems to know much about Hippogriffs beyond Alistair's original impressions from old stories and there is no immediately visible nest. Perhaps if you explored further, but that would mean one more distraction from your original goal...
“Argh, the chickens would likely taste funny, anyways. Which end would you cook first? I suppose we should get going. Where are we going again? Oh yeah, to rescue Billy’s companion at the Highsummer or Midsummer pass from the Baron and his goons. That should be entertaining. What’s the name of your friend? And then to get this spell book for a wizard from some mountain. That should also be good excitement if we ever get into the cave. I’m doing fine on provisions but am starting to get a hankering for some ale. It’s been a while since we’ve seen civilization but a tavern sure would be nice. Or maybe the Baron’s goons have some that we can drink after we beat them up….” Zeke continues rambling on as he resumes the hike to the Pass, pausing only slightly to swear every now and then at some rock or tree part that had the temerity to get in the way of his feet.

Kaos - trained hippogriffs would be most excellent. gm - do the PCs get credit for a short rest while determining they knew nothing about hippogriffs?
While there's nothing inherently magical about the Hippogriffs, the larger feathers would probably make good decorations; especially for a noble house that uses their image as part of their coat of arms. You've seen the smaller long feathers used as quills, not because they are particularly suited for the task, but because their rarity makes them a mark of wealth and prestige. The hides are of no more value than a typical horsehide.
Billy will dress the monsters if we want to. However, with no way to persevere it I'm not sure how long it will last? Then head out to find his friend.
"His name is Evren he is a spell caster. We meet when I joined up, but he retired, and I stayed. I was tasked with scout the area and convinced him to come along."
Zeke quickly halts as he realizes that Billy is being productive plucking the hippogriff. In fact, he plops down against a log and starts gutting the animal. “If we can keep some meat for dinner tonight, great. If not, maybe the feathers will be valuable- at least they won’t be heavy.” ooc- short rest, please.
Billy begins processing one of the Hippogriffs with Zeke's questionable assistance. Krog sets to work on the other Hippogriff and, once all is said and done, the trio gather up what could easily be a small fortune in Hippogriff feathers (about 200 gp total, once you can find a buyer).
The Hippogriff meat is oily with a texture reminiscent of venison. The flavor is very gamey with a slightly sweet taste. There is more than enough for everyone to eat their fill today but, if you intend to convert any to rations, you will need to take a long rest so you can smoke it properly.
“Thanks Billy and Krog for the grub. That was filling, although I still have a hankering for some ale. So are we doing a side quest to the side quest? I’ve never seen a hippogriff nest before so that could be interesting and rewarding. But we also promised Billy that we would find Evren. Do you think a spell caster would know how to conjure ale? Regardless, I’d guess Evren would be happy the sooner we rescue him. What think you think?”
He then looks at Billy, "Let's go find your friend."
Krog will not do anything to preserve the Hippogriff meat. He will leave it for scavengers, "That was a good meal, but we have someone that needs our help. Let's move out."

“Krog is right though, we need to make way before Evren gets relocated.”

"A fine swift battle... that is the breakfast of champions." Brockes adds in with a smile on his face.
Billy
"Should we get moving?"

(We should find the nest and raise up some Hippogriff Mounts. Yes, that is what needs to happen.)

Arcana 11 Alistair watches as Billy processes the hippogriffs.

No, that only took a couple of minutes worth of thought. There's nothing that says they can't take a rest after that if they want to!

Short rest is fine with me

Billy
" Evren would be my first priority."
"Ale would be refreshing," Krog responds to Zeke.
He then looks at Billy, "Let's go find your friend."
Krog will not do anything to preserve the Hippogriff meat. He will leave it for scavengers, "That was a good meal, but we have someone that needs our help. Let's move out."
“Agreed.” Brockes says. “Thank you for preparing the meat. It was my first taste of this kind.”
“Krog is right though, we need to make way before Evren gets relocated.”
"Thank you all again."
Zeke and Billy lead the way to find Evren, followed by Krog and Brockes, with Alistair covering the rear.
