(OOC: I'm just going to start the initiative order. Saferetan, Calanin, can I have initiative from both of you?)

The beast slashes with its claws at Matthyse. Attack: 8 Damage: 7

(OOC: Thanks for the idea, Yalexis! Wondering if y'all just wanted to use side initiative (each side rolls a d20 instead of each combatant))

[ No problem! I've been using side initiative for my own campaign since we started. It saves a lot of time. I also asked if everyone was okay with me rolling both 1d20s and they were okay with it. If you ask me, I don't have any problem with you rolling it, DM. ]

If Matthyse had time to cast divine favor, then he will rush towards the beast and do the following:

• Action attack with his warhammer (radiating divine power) is 11 to hit, dealing 11 bludgeoning and 2 radiant damage.
• Bonus action attack (war domain) is 16 to hit, dealing 11 bludgeoning and 1 radiant damage. 

[ Disregard the second attack if the spell had to be cast within initiative. ]

 The first warhammer attack misses as the creature nimbly dodges out of the way, but that leads it into the second blow, and it sprawls on the floor, whimpering as radiant flames sweep across its body while it struggles back up to a roughly standing position. 

(OOC: So with the side initiative, it's everyone's turn. Just gonna put Freytha's here.)

[ Yes. The enemies already took a turn (shadowbeast). Now it's the adventurers' turn (in any order). I've been calling it shadowbeast and I don't even know what it is. 😆 ]

I'm a tad confused by the nature of this creature. Nevertheless, it's a threat to be dealt with, though I doubt it will be the only one. 

I attempt to fire off a bolt of electricity, but it seems to arc wide, despite my better efforts.

[Witch Bolt to hit: 11 (so a likely miss), Damage: 10]

I attempt to make Bran realize what they are doing "Oh, bran...I think you are being lied to by your ringmaster. And you, ringmaster, what did you do to Bran."

I cast Frostbite on the creature in front of me. They have to do a con save of 13 (or above) or take (1) damage and get disadvantage on their next attack roll on their turn.

 The bolt veers off, going around the beast and into the portal room, where it bounces around for a while before stopping, nearly hitting the portal.
