CQ's mage hand opens up one side of the oaken doors on the far side of the iron wrought gates. The oil lamps hanging in the portico show that beyond the doors is a foyer, with pictures or wallhangings on the west (right) wall, but you can't see them clearly. There are more wooden doors to the north.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Light-footed and obscured by shadow, Asha brushes past Cumquarts, through the gates and to the threshold of the oaken doors. She plucks her white feather from the air and tucks it inside her cloak, close to her chest. Slowly and carefully, she peers into the foyer, examining for traps...
Hanging on the east wall of the foyer is a shield emblazoned with a coat-of-arms (a stylized golden windmill on a red field), flanked by framed portraits of stony-faced aristocrats. Mahogany-framed double doors to the north are set with panes of stained glass.
Inside the foyer Asha feels no wind, no moisture from the outside rain.
I approach the gates and cast mage hand, guiding it to retrieve my black feather before sending the hand toward the shield. I grab the shield and retrieve it.
The shield resists the pull of the mage hand, it appears to need more force to take it off the wall where it is mounted than the mage hand is capable of generating.
The rest of the characters pile into the foyer to get out of the rain. As they cross the threshold each of the relics stops displaying unusual behaviour - Einnob's bronze dragon scale stops glowing and arcing, CQ's amber shard lets gravity resume it's hold and drops to CQ's chest, and Danu's stone crest stops humming and smelling of pine and earth.
With everyone inside the foyer, they can look out the doors and see the wind and rain through the bars of the gate, but the sound seems muted somehow.
Asha and Zap are next to the doors to the north and can choose to open the doors or anyone can choose to take an action.
CQ examines the shield on the east wall. It is a decorative piece - so couldn't be used as an actual shield. It is emblazoned with a coat-of-arms of a stylized golden windmill on a red field. It looks like it is strongly affixed to the wall and would probably have to be ripped down, probably doing some damage to the wall in the process.
Einnob jostles into position, moving the people around her, and then grabs hold of both sides of the shield and wrenches it away from the wall. The shield, with a bit of plaster, comes away from the wall, littering the floor.
Einnob now has an decorative shield in her hands and a white mess at her feet.
CQ gets an uneasy feeling.
"Did you feel that?" the warlock says, looking around. "The house... the house did not like that!"
The paintings are realistic styled portraits, showing aristocratic-looking couples. The clothing and hair/beard styles indicate that each are couples from different generations. The paintings are faded - probably with time - but interestingly have no dust gathered on top of their frame.

To be clear, your characters are currently outside the house, south of the bars shown at the bottom of the map.
Weeeeellllllllllllll, I’m no fancy wizardly whatever but surely one of you lot could cast a detect magic and traps?
*shuffles impatiently, keen to see what’s inside*
*Clears throat and nudges Asha.

14 Perception check
Asha thinks that it seems perfectly safe.
Asha draws her dagger, looks at the others with a raised eyebrow, and takes a step over the threshold.
She takes a step to the left and crouches down in the darkness with her back against the wall, waiting to see if the others follow her inside.

For those outside the wind picks up, and cold rain slices down at an angle. You are all going to get drenched soon.
I wisely and deftly follow in Asha's footsteps to join her at the wall and beckon the rest of the group to proceed.
Just like Asha's feather, as soon as Zap crossed the threshold his feather stopped twirling and lay still, just like always had done before today.

With a wink and a sharp elbow to the ribs of Bonnie, a strong hint to see if she can kindly remove the shield from the wall.

I approach the paintings cautiously to get a better look at them.

I call out to see if there is anyone here that we can speak to, perhaps a house keeper...
