Jayce studies the painting that Eliza is looking at and rolls an 11 for a HISTORY check. It appears that Jayce does not recognize the scenery and does not know anything about the painting. He walks up next to the painting and bends down to look for a tag that would give any information on it, along with the artist's name. He ignores Eliza for now.

Eliza's eyes narrow slightly as she notices Jayce. Looking him over as if she is appraising him, her mind working to place this new figure. After a brief pause, she offers a polite smile. "Are you a collector, or perhaps an admirer of the arts? I don't think I recognize you from any society events. I'm Eliza Harrow and I am a collector... Not for myself but I am a curator for a very wealthy lord."
This is the moment Jayce has been waiting for—a chance to engage Eliza in conversation, to begin the process of gaining her trust, and to subtly gather the information he needs. The next few words he chooses could shape the course of their interaction.
“Ah, so pleased to make your acquaintance, my child. I am Brother Jayce, a devoted servant of Helm, and a new admirer of the arts. Our little church has recently come into possession of a wonderful collection of various paintings and treasure, and I said to myself, ‘Jayce, you need to find out more about art’, so I decided to take some time to come to this beautiful place and learn something. Why, you look like someone who knows a lot about art….tell me all that you know”, Jayce smiles in a tongue-in-cheek way, knowing how ridiculous the request sounds. “At the very least, I would like to know more about this piece we are looking at.

Eliza, "How interesting. I'm kind of a big deal for this art house. My patron buys most of their pieces. Maybe it's because I like the gallery, myself."
She uses her insight but seems interested in talking about art, so she continues. "Which pieces do you like the best?"
As Jayce and Eliza continue their conversation in the art gallery, Eliza grows increasingly interested in Jayce’s background. She seems particularly intrigued by the idea that he might have a patron or that he himself could be a person of influence. Her questions become more pointed, and her demeanor shifts from casual curiosity to genuine interest.
Eventually, Eliza invites Jayce to join her for a nooning meal, suggesting a nearby upscale restaurant. She seems eager to continue their conversation in a more private setting, away from the gallery's crowd. "I have so many bids lingering—on art, on property," she confides as they walk. "But I just received word to cancel all my bids. I hope this isn’t a sign that my patron is facing financial troubles. That would spell the end of my employment, as I don’t fancy myself as a necessary employee if there’s no fortune to manage."
They make their way to an elegant restaurant known for its discreet service and refined atmosphere. Once seated at a secluded table, Eliza’s tone becomes more personal, as if she’s weighing the possibility of confiding in Jayce further.
She mentions her concern about the sudden order to cancel her bids, expressing her fear that her patron might be in financial trouble. This, she worries, could jeopardize her position and her carefully cultivated status. By the end of their time together, it’s clear that Eliza sees Jayce as a potential ally—someone who might help her navigate the uncertainties she now faces.
Jayce should roleplay with Eliza, one or more paragraphs, you can decide actions for her as if she is an ally with a shared interest. What information are you trying to get from her? What, if any, requests do you have for her? Will you try to buy her out or bribe her to be a double agent? Will you tell her the truth, that you are an agent of Lord Aldric and that she will be paid for helping to bring Gideon down?

I want to thank you for your time in putting this adventure together. In the beginning, I could not wait for your next post so I could quickly respond….now it is more of a chore and I just don’t care anymore. Thanks again for everything you have done…. I do really appreciate it and I wish you many more happy adventures.

That's mostly my fault. I got slapped with the busiest summer I've had in a while and I've been out of it.
I had a blast (mostly at the beginning) but all good things come to an end.
If you find a cool game that's looking for another player, let me know. I'd love to be a cohort in your party sometime. Good luck and thanks for playing
I don’t think I ever told you my name….it’s Todd. I feel really bad about ending this the way I did, so I do want to extend an invitation to you. If I can get your Discord, I will contact you the next time I run a game. You definitely seem to be an experienced DM/player with a very good imagination. I am finding that I am happier as a DM than a player. What I love to do is take my old modules and adventures and tweak them to make them new again and run them for people who have never played them, so I don’t know if you would be interested in something like that?
I would definitely like to keep in touch and will inform you of adventure opportunities, which will be in the near future.
