"I can take first watch, if others plan to rest while we camp here for a while." Rosebudpulls out some rations and her water skin and plops down at the top of the stairs facing back to the scene of their most recent fight. Sort of a literal plop since she made a puddle as she emerged from the water. "Ahh, seven hells."
ROSEBUD will determine that most of the chamber is cut from stone and there is simply not enough soil to make any in additional mounds. However, rising above the water to the south, she takes a set of stairs that climbs to a circular chamber with four padlocked wooden chests piled in the middle of it.
In addition, just by looking up the steps to the east you see a mostly empty chamber with a lone crate. There is a door to the north.
KHESSA had previously glanced up the stairs to the north, where she saw burned torch stubs littering the floor of this hall, the western end of which is occupied by three six-foot-tall, painted wooden statues. Each statue stands atop a two-foot-high block of red stone, making it look taller and foreboding.
The center statue resembles a heavily armored man whose face is hidden behind the fearsome visor of his helmet. He’s painted red except for his right gauntlet, which is black. Clutched in this gauntlet is a blood-red spear, pointed upward. The statue to the north depicts a purple-garbed male noble wearing a harlequin mask and holding a dagger behind his back. The statue to the south portrays a black-robed skeleton with its jaw opened wide and its bony hands outstretched. The east wall is covered by a curtain.
Mistynip looks around and sees the curtain. I'm curious to see what's behind that curtain. Does anyone know what these statues resemble? She then turns her attention to Rosaline. Rosaline, are you ok? Do you need more help?
"Let's remember how the gauntlets from the armor near the Bane Leader attacked us when we got close... Better to rest before attempting anything else" Khessa advises. "We really need it... An unexpected fight that's harder than expected could be our last".
[[ OOC: Are we able to complete our well-deserved Long Rest without any problems? ]]
Curious, MISTYNIP peeks behind the curtain. She sees a room with nine wooden crates that are scattered throughout this room. Scurrying among them are six rats. (Map Updated!)
REYA gathers the corpses and puts them on the mound in the center of the flooded room. She searches the bodies and finds, 5 long knives, the Heavy Crossbow with bolts, the Greatclub, 30 gold pieces, 120 silver pieces.

The party has a quiet uninterrupted time of practice, rest, and recover. (DM NOTE: Everyone please take a Long Rest.)
Elias has a restless rest, after awakening he'll ask Khessa if she'd like to work together preparing spells for the day? As the two work and study together in the early morning hours Elias is excited as the formulas for two more difficult spells suddenly make sense to him now. After an hour or so of studying together, spells all set, he'll pull some rations out to share.
hopefully just a couple more rooms left. It might still be evening topside, I can't even remember if it's night or day. If it is evening then we may expect to run into a handful of cultist coming to check in or worship. Considering we've rested unmolested for the last eight hours or so, I think fair to assume we've cleared out the regular residents.
Khessa, satisfied with the efficiency of the 'cleaning' conducted so far and convinced that the common flock of Baldur's Gate are on the verge of being able to live at least a little more serene and safe, rests peacefully and, lying down next to Elias, finally falls asleep with a serene smile on her lips, after having placed (perhaps unconsciously, in her sleep?) a hand on his shoulder.
In the morning the blonde arcane warrior is very happy to prepare spells together with the young wizard and, even if her still limited familiarity with the abstract theory of magic prevents her from being able to learn new spells, at least she acquires greater confidence with the ones she already knows.
The constant struggles for life and death that have followed in the dungeon have clearly strengthened her already fighting spirit and her body already tempered for combat and it is with even greater self-confidence that the tall adventuress smiles at her companions: "Very well! Ready to finish exploring this place and finish cleaning it? Even if you're right, Elias; there probably won't be many enemies left - but we have to make sure. After that, we can go back to report to Captain Zodge, free Reya from her charges, so she can walk freely through the city, and understand with him how he wants to proceed against the Vanthampur family for what they have done".
[[ OOC: The 3rd level is a Fighter level for Khessa. She will advance as Wizard next time. ]]
Rosebudmoves over to talk with Rosaline. "Hi there. I have been wondering for a while about your name, but we have been so busy with killing things that I have not had a chance to ask you. So what is an "a-leen"? I mean, I am Rose with a bud and you are Rose with an "a-leen". I know what a bud is - its the part that develops into a flower, so I guess you could say that it is an immature flower - but I do not know what an "a-leen" is. Could you help me learn?" Rosebud is rather nonchalant about their recent adventures and any experience gained clearly did not go to her intelligence. (OOC: she leveled up as a druid.) "And what do you think we should do with these statues? I think we should burn them so they can't tempt future people. I can't imagine them being good. But I know others are smarter and stronger than me."
I'm think once we get back and report in, I'm going shopping for a change of clothes. I'm not even sure my spells can get this robe clean again. Elias looks around at the group and smiles, his eyes landing on Khessa, shall we see what behind door number one?
((Elias levelled up to 3rd level wizard, 2nd level spells! Yes!))
Mistynip address the others. My curiosity got the best of me and I took a look behind that curtain. There are nine crates and unfortunately, some rats. Should we take a look?
Khessa enthusiastically pats Mistynip on the shoulder: "You did very well! With Elias's help, I'm sure I could learn some of the spells in the spellbooks we found here and copy them in my own spellbook - but for that I need funds for components and special inks... So I'd be quite happy to take a look at those crates!"
"If the rats don't agree," the blonde arcane warrior shrugs "it will be the worse for them! I think we've faced much worse than them so far!"
And if no one has any better ideas, the tall adventuress would like to lead the party to inspect the crates first...
However, rising above the water to the south, she takes a set of stairs that climbs to a circular chamber with four padlocked wooden chests piled in the middle of it.
(Just saying!)
REYA will rest and spend time in prayer. She receives a little Divine inspiration; one of determination and a need to find out what happened to Elturel; and destroy those responsible. (Reya will take another Paladin level with an Oath of Vengeance.)
She will look at the members of the Flaming Fist, "There is more at work here. Mortlock was clearly being used by the Duke and his brothers. This abomination,"she points to the Skull-Face Dude's corpse, "mentioned something about the Low Lantern and Amrik. I know nothing about either one of these." She pauses then continues, "It is good we took out the cultist in this place. But we have not dealt with those behind the cultist, the Vanthampurs."
Rosaline raises an eyebrow at Rosebud's string of questions about her name...
"Um... honestly, I haven't thought about it that much," the Inquisitor admits as she unpacks a bedroll. "It's the name I've had as long as I can remember. In all honesty, my mother probably just thought it sounded pretty when she chose it. Now, my family name, 'Blackridge,' may have a more interesting history..."

Khessa pats Reya on the shoulder: "That's why the last step I proposed is 'go back to report to Captain Zodge'... Not only will he be able to free you from your charges, so you can walk freely through the city... He will also tell us how he wants to proceed against the Vanthampur family for what they have done - so we can punish them with the support of the authorities".
The blonde arcane warrior, for the rest, is ready to examine the inviting four padlocked wooden chests...
"I'd like to hear about your family name. Sounds spooky!" Rosebudresponds to Rosaline. "Hey, speaking of spooky, there are four locked chests in the room where I rested. A little voice in my head says they might be important. Can you come look at them with me? Pretty please?" She pauses and adds, "Don't worry about my sanity. I'm used to having voices in my head. The speaking ones are the sane ones, such as the one that talked about the chests. It is the singing ones, or worse yet, the ones that talk in rhyme, that I worry about. Those voices are a little bit sketchy...."
Elias follows the group back up to the room with the rats and crates, he reaches into his pouch and pulls out the cubes of cheese wrapped in cloth, I thought ahead, sewers always have rats and rats are always hungry. May be I can lure them out of the room with these?
REYA will look at KHESSA, "I do not know this, Captain Zodge. He could have me arrested and sent to one of Baldur's Gates notorious jails. No. I will go and look for this Low Lantern. My concern is for Elturel. I need to find Thavius Kreeg."
In the meantime, ELIAS scatters the rats away from the crates with his cheese.
KHESSA will later see that the four chests have padlocks on them.
Unknown to the others, Mistynip has a great fear of Rats. As the rats scurry for the cheese, Mistynip screams and runs behind Elias. I can’t stand rats! They are creepy little creatures and given the chance, they will take a bite out of you. They are always hungry.
Khessa is so surprised by the Elturel paladin's distrust that she doesn't immediately respond... and only manages to recover after Elias whispers to her.
"Reya... you're kidding, I assume?" the blonde arcane warrior puts her hand on her shoulder "Arrest you? After all the help you just gave us, the Flaming Fist, on a mission that was so dear to the Captain? I intend to instead present your contribution to having the charges against you dropped! That way, you can continue your mission without the risk of being stopped by the forces of law and order! Not to mention that since Captain Zodge will surely want to pursue the Vanthampurs, we can go together, at Low Lantern, and potentially with the help (or at least the authority) of the Flaming Fist!"
"However, Reya," the tall adventuress looks at her with genuine puzzlement and concern in the depths of her blue eyes "I defer to your wisdom... You are, after all, a true adventurer, not a peasant who has barely learned to swing a blade and laboriously mastered two magic tricks, like me. If you do not trust me... and would prefer not to meet the Captain... just let me report to him - after which, either (as I imagine) by his order, or of my own accord, I will be at your side against the Vanthampurs, as you have been at mine here".
Before Reya can respond, however, Mistynip's frightened voice rings out. Khessa admits: "Yeah, rats aren't exactly my favorite animals either... dirty, creepy, always hungry... Let's make them go away" and she sends her Mage Hand to pick up the cheese pieces and slowly move them further and further away, finally out of the room, so that the vermin will follow them - and get out of the way. "Rosaline?" she then turns to the only member of the party who has so far shown any familiarity with the locks "Do you think you can do something about these padlocks?"
