"No, no grand knightly mission I am afraid fräulein..."The young perrenish knight admits, even seeming a bit embarrassed to admit there was no particularly chivalrous or magnificent reason behind his journey here, scratching his neck with his free hand. "...it is only important to myself, to unveil what is kept from me. But also, I too hope to find my own purpose here before I need to return home. I have been most fortunate to find such pleasant companionship already, ze gods be blessed." He finishes with a playful smile, briefly glancing up to the heavens."I vill still find time for more important matters zan my own, like doing vhat I can to help zose slaves and others in need. I am new to this city but I fear zere vill always be zose vho vill prey upon others, and vile I lack your faith fräulein, I too want to bring light to ze dark corners of the city before I leave." He states with a sincere and proud tone. "Vill you report in to ze local temple or do you consider yourself a free servant of ze Shining One fräulein Joy?" He then asks with sincere curiosity.
“You don’t need faith to do good, Cyriel—you just need to want to.” She smiles, warm and sincere. “And it sounds to me like you already do.”
When he asks about the temple, she glances ahead, mulling it over. “Oh, I’ll definitely visit,”she says, shrugging slightly. “But I doubt they’ll be too welcoming at first. The clergy tend to be…cautious about people like me.” Her smile doesn’t falter, but there’s a knowing glint in her eye. “I’ll just have to prove myself. Maybe they’ll have work that needs doing—tasks that show I’m serious about aiding the city. Just as well. I came here to help, not sit around in a temple. And it seems I'm in good company to do that." She gestures at their group happily, but suddenly notices that she can't spot their Halfling friend (perception 8). "Lief? Did he go somewhere?"
Cleo comes back to herself, but she looks frightened. At Aisling's inquiry, she pauses for a moment before replying, as if not knowing quite what to say. "I just had a...vision," the gnome says uncertainly. "I came to the city looking for my brother. This vision...I think he was captured by the slavers. We have to save those people. We have to save my brother!" Cleo's voice starts to rise at the end, and as she realizes how emotional she is getting, a blush creeps into her cheeks.
Hearing Aisling speak about her reasons for coming to the City of Greyhawk, brings an immediate response from the young woman. "Me too! Sometimes you just have to... I don't know. Put home behind and this does seem to be a place full of..." She glances around at all the bustle of people and the spaces densely packed with tall buildings. "Well, there's just a lot here! But bound to be opportunities somewhere here. It's good to..." Her voice trails off as Aisling asks if Cleo is alright.
Aislinghadn’t expected anyone else to have a strained familial past—least of all the quietest woman in their group. A faint smile crossed the half-elf’s face as she nodded at the human’s words. But then Lusiafell silent, cutting herself off abruptly, leaving Aisling wondering what else she might have said. Perhaps, if they traveled together longer, she would find the courage to ask. But for now, when they had only just met, pressing further felt too forward.
When Cleoreturns to the present moment, Aisling resists the urge to reach for her hand. The gnome’s words about a vision sound strange—but then again, Aisling herself has an Archfey whispering in her mind, granting her powers she never had before. Who is she to dismiss Cleo’s vision? "Gods above! Your brother? We cannot waste time. We mustn’t let that ship leave port." She turns to the group, repeating her offer to secure lodgings for them all as they race toward the docks. "I’ll handle it as quickly as I can and meet you there. Black Dragon, right?"
When the shapeshifted changeling realizes Leifisn't anywhere to be seen, she calls for him as well. "Leif? Leif!? Where are you?"(Perception: ... too low)
Leif appears out of nowhere in front of Joy with her cloak scrunched up as he returns it to her. The cloak is damp from soaking up some of the river water. "I'm here Aisling... sorry, I just needed a minute." Between sniffles and rubbing eyes, Leif says, "Thanks for the blanket." His expression is sad and worried as he overhears why the group's attention is focused on Cleo. Intent on action, Leif says to Cleo, "We have to do something now!" The sentence comes out much louder than he expected, but he knows how easily a person can become lost forever if not rescued quickly. He turns towards where Lusia described finding the ship and looks prepared to run that way, looking expectantly back toward the group. A rush of adrenalin flows through the young halfling, giving him renewed energy and determination.

He felt her warm smile heating his cheeks, looking away to hide this. At least he had stopped gawking, in fact he realized he had quickly gotten used to her appearance. If his father had seen him now... He chuckles briefly to himself at the thought. As the pelorian asks about Leif the young perrenish knight returns to the present and starts to look around for the halfling.
(Perception: 15 )
As the gnome tells of her vision he turns and places a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Ve vill save your brother, you have my vord." The young knight proclaims as he takes a knee by the gnome's side. "Are you saying your brother is on zat ship?"He asks with urgence in his voice.
Joy startles slightly when Leif suddenly appears in front of her, but the surprise melts instantly into relief. She takes the cloak gently, offering him a warm, grateful smile. “You’re all right. Good.” Her eyes flick over him briefly, making sure he’s not worse off than he looks, but before she can say more, his attention is already elsewhere.
And when she hears why—Cleo’s vision, her brother, the ship possibly leaving the port—her expression hardens with resolve. "Such visions shouldn’t be taken lightly. Leif is right,” she says, firm but steady. “We have to go. Lusia, can you lead us to that ship?"
Cleo nods at Cyriel. "I...I think so," she says. "The vision just said he was in chains. It showed me a caged moth. I know that's strange, but I know it's my brother."
As everyone immediately offers up their support and offers to help, Cleo's eyes fill with tears of gratitude. She had not expected this at all. "Thank you. For offering to help. It really means a lot."
Cleo prepares to follow Lusia and the others to the ship. She has to restrain herself from not running off blindly, but she knows only Lusia will be able to lead her to the right place.
Leif doesn't have the same restraint Cleo has. His impatience at the situation thoroughly shows through. He wanted to help rescue the people in the wagon from the moment he saw them chained together after their water rescue. However, he knew he had little chance of success by himself. Hearing Cleo talk of her brother on the same boat solidified his resolve. He'd already offered to help the gnome search for her brother while they sailed together on the ship to Greyhawk and wanted to keep his word. He turns to Lusia, "Please take us to the boat you saw!" while tugging on the hem of her tunic. His youthful excitement and lack of wisdom pouring out of him.
With the promise of warmth, food, and comfort within arm's reach, you decide that haste is required and that you should follow up on Lusia's investigations. Backtracking, you head back along the known path, through the Cargo Gate, and back down to the docks, where Lusia leads you to The Silver Gull, which remains moored to the jetty. (The Silver Gull is a brigantine, a two-masted vessel. Quite large for these waters.)
It is later now, and here, the northern docks are relatively quiet. The sound of the water lapping against the hulls of boats and the river's edge. The call of a water bird echoes in the distance. There are far fewer folks about.
You keep your distance and observe from behind some closed stalls. The ship is quiet except for two men aboard the forecastle (the ship's upper deck forward of the foremast. The bow is toward land). They quietly talk. You can't distinguish what they are saying, but you can tell it is jovial banter.
Cyriel and Lusia,
You also notice someone in the crow's nest of the main top gallant mast (the aft mast).
Hearing the others' pleas, Lusia agrees to lead the others to where 'The Silver Gull' was moored. She was a bit surprised it was still here, given how urgently the dock hand had made it seem it's departure would be.
"Looks like we're in luck, it's still here," she comments in a soft voice. "Three crew visible, but bound to be more below. How do we find the captives?"
Lusia then turns to Cleo. "You didn't see your brother earlier." It's more of a statement. "Any clues in your vision as to how to proceed?"
"Maybe I can sneak aboard and find them, or we can just walk up and demand they release their captives."Leif offers up two potential courses of action after Lusia asks how to proceed. Leif is looking for the third crew member but doesn't spot him. "Wait... three crew? I only see two." He continues to look for the third crew member while waiting for a reply.
If given the go ahead, Leif sneaks closer to the ship to search for a way into or onto it, possibly climbing aboard using a rope tied to a mooring cleat, and entering through a lower level window. If he gains entry he looks for Cleo's brother and the other prisoners.
"Crow's nest, aft of the ship," Lusia whispers to Leif. "Probably would see you if you're on the deck." She doesn't specifically say 'no' to Leif but doesn't sound encouraging.
Aisling takes a step toward the Black Dragon, but in the end, she changes her mind and follows after the group. She's nervous. Jumping into the water to help caged people was one thing, but facing slavers? Were they going to fight them? She had never been in a fight before! The false half-elf could only hope that the more experienced among them would know what to do.
Once near the boat and after hearing what Leif and Lusia are saying, she chimes in, "And what if we distracted the one atop the crow's nest? Then perhaps Leif could slip in silently. It would certainly help to have someone hidden inside, would it not? I could summon an illusion or create a noise, and then Leif could sneak aboard the ship."
If they are okay with the idea, Aisling will conjure a lightning right atop the crow's nest (or as near as possible depending on the distance) which hopes will distract that guard.
Worried that this might end in a fight, she summons a protective barrier around herself. It glows blue as ice for a moment, until it settles in and disappears from view.

The young knight follows the lead of the girl with the lute, walking with determined steps back out the Cargo gate and along the docks to find the slavers' ship. He hadn't expected to see himself boarding another ship on his first evening in Greyhawk but there was a feeling of relief to have others around him also ready to free the slaves. He was still wet and cold but his new purpose gave him both the necessary strength and warmth to persevere. His father would be disappointed if his son would act outside the boundaries of the law, he knew this, but then again, since slavery wasn't legal inside the city it's legal authorities might look the other way if some slaves were to escape outside the city walls, the slaves might possibly even find refuge within the city.
He is again relieved to see the Silver Gull still there. They were in luck. Perhaps fate had intervened and delayed her departure. Joy nods firmly, her expression serious. “I agree with Cyriel. We don’t know how many slavers are down there, and I don't want to send Lief in alone.” She casts a glance at the halfling, her hazel eyes full of concern. “You’re quick and silent, Leif, but the tiefling woman on that ship...If she's in charge, she’s dangerous. We can’t risk you being caught alone.”

Disappointed that his idea hasn't been adopted, Leifsays, "They won't catch me, but if you guys think another idea is better, then let's do it." Leif then begins to pull crossbow bolts out of his quiver, remove the tips, and replace them with ball bearings using bits of his rope and his weaver's tools to fasten them to the shaft. He intends to use them as a non-lethal ranged attack.
Aisling drops the illusion spell she had begun to prepare, deciding to cast only the protective barrier on herself. She glances down at Leif, offering him a small smile that means "Next time."
Looking at Cyriel and Joy, she asks, "Do you really think they will agree to hand over the prisoners?" Doubt clouds her expression, and as she considers the likely fight ahead, she confesses, "I-I have never been in a fight before."
The changeling catches herself fidgeting with her hands and clasps them together to stop. Taking a steadying breath, she says, "I will try to support you from the rear. Fortunately, I know a few spells that might come in handy."
Cleo follows the others to the ship moored in the harbor. A wave of relief washes over her as she sees that it hasn't yet departed. As the others discuss how to approach the vessel, Cleo is nearly bouncing on her feet.
"I know it's a long shot, but perhaps they will see reason," Cleo says. "If not, well...I do not enjoy violence against living creatures, but sometimes that's the only way to save someone from harm."
Cleo takes a deep breath. "I'm ready when you are," she says to Cyriel.
"I can be pretty scary when I want to be--only to protect others, of course," Joy gives a slightly embarrassed look, "At least a couple of them will probably flee."
