Alright, I have expanded this party from four to six players, but I'm calling it at this point.
The final party is:
Lyrel playing Valaith the Goliath Barbarian Agonzo516 playing Hurrig the Dwarf Cleric Barlow playing Bründir the Dwarf Bard decjimmy playing Sylelor the Half-Elf Ranger CraigTJones playing Archie the Gnome Rogue Sphynxyy playing Vark the Half-Orc Sorceror
Would this fine bunch of misfits please find their way over to our new discussion thread. ;)
Thanks @Stormchase6. It sounds like the Firbolg might be a tough fit since the Disguise Self ability only lasts an hour before short resting. I'm going to press the matter though and hope to convince you to accept him as a friend and healer to the village as I'd love to play this character from the Feywild with a DM that will let me 'reskin' things just a little for RP purposes (turning summons into NPC's with personalities). If you decide you'd like the druid in the game but as a Dwarf, I can adapt.
Name: Dorno
Class: Druid
Race: Firbolg
Alignment: Neutral Good
Background: 'Dorno' is a Firbolg and an outcast from the Feywild. Considered the runt of his clan for his 'small' stature (7ft) and being a bit of a later bloomer with regard to his intellect and magical abilities, Dorno was unintentionally left behind one day several years ago. The clan did not intend to be so cruel as to leave him alone in the middle of the dense forest, but they also barely noticed and did not go looking for him either. Lucky for Dorno, his wits did come around and his good heart won him several true friends, both big and small creatures from the Feywild, before he found himself lost here in this new world and the Eldren forest. All Dorno wants in life is to be in nature, make true friends, and use his abilities to help other good people in need.
---------------------
One day while wandering the Eldren forest alone, smiling and looking up at the sunlight and the birds in the trees, Dorno heard a cry. He stopped and listened for a moment before rushing to the area to take a look. Peering out from behind a large tree the firbolg saw a rather upset, to say the least, dwarf with his foot caught in a hunter's trap. After a few moments the dwarf stopped cursing and rolling about, suddenly alert to his surroundings.
Dwarf: "Oy, who goes there? Let me out of this thing! You'll regret the day you caught Fenrik Hammerfist in this thing and had to face his fury!"
Dorno sticks his head out and blinks a few times before approaching slowly. "Who, me? That's not mine. Are you hurt?" The firbolg does not sound too dim witted at all, but does speak slightly slowly in his deep, low voice and one might surmise that Common may not be his first language.
Fenrik: "Of course I'm hurt, you big lug! Who, or WHAT, in the nine hells are ya, anyway? Make y'erself useful get me out of this thing!"
Dorno kneels down next to Fenrik and pries the trap open with his massive hands with relative ease. The dwarf tries to stand and back away quickly but cannot put any weight on his ankle and swiftly collapses.
"Blasted, I think it's broken!"
Dorno moves over to Fenrik once again, who looks defensive and more than a little agitated.
"It's ok Fenrik, I'll fix it. Since you asked, I'm a firbolg." Within seconds, Dorno has passed his hands over the dwarf's ankle, drawing upon the energy of nature around him, and the ankle is fully healed leaving only torn trousers as evidence of the incident.
"What the...? Hey, would ya look at that! Not bad, friend! Hehehe!" Fenrik's mood has changed drastically in a matter of seconds. "Oy, the Mrs. isn't going to be happy about this" he says, tugging on his tattered lower pant leg. "Thank you, thank you indeed! What was it you said, a Firbolg? Fascinating. What's your name though, friend?"
"Name? Oh, well, ah, we don't really... They didn't really give me a name, where I'm from, you see, before they got rid of me. I did see a man here a few days ago, though. He called me 'Dorno' right before he ran away real fast. Not quite sure what spooked him so. Maybe he saw a trap like this." The large Fey creature scratches the back of his head with a meaty paw. "Maybe he said "oh no" actually, come to think of it, on account of the trap and all probably, but I thought it was Dorno at first and I kinda liked that one. My people taught me that outsiders might give me a name so I thought that's what he was here for, maybe?
"Well it's nice to meet you, Dorno! Did you say they got rid of you?"
"Well, yeah, you know, on account of my size and all, I think."
"Hehe, yeah, I bet! At your size you must scare off just about everything. Seems kinda handy if you ask me! Hehehe No offense, I mean. Sorry."
"Scare? No, no, I'm too small to scare off just about anything, I think. I don't think they wanted me around anymore. That's ok though, I made new friends, although I haven't seen them in a while. Hey, how'd you get caught in that trap, anyway? I haven't seen anyone like you out here before.
"Small?! Ahhhhh, right, then, sure. Yeah you won't catch me out here very often, ya got that right! We've got someone very sick back at the village, you see, and they needed someone to go fetch these blasted weeds or whatever they are. I barely know what I'm lookin' fer! Say, this seems more like your kinda place, and you were pretty darn helpful with me ankle there. Do you know these plants? Can you heal someone who's sick like you did me?!"
Dorno and Fenrik proceeded to find the necessary herbs in the Eldren forest and proceed back up the mountain towards Fenrik's village. It was then that Fenrik realized this was a bad idea and asked Dorno if he could disguise himself at all, but wasn't very hopeful of the prospect. Dorno didn't understand at first but, upon seeing the village from afar, ended up disguising himself quite well as a dwarf. He warned Fenrik that it would only last an hour or so, however, and that he'd have to leave right after he healed the sick member of the village if they were afraid of strangers that looked like them. Since that day Fenrik has visited Dorno in the forest many a time, asking him to return to town with him on occasion when people were sick or injured in the mines. Each time Fenrik had to tell his fellow villagers that he was visiting his dwarven druid friend in the wood and would bring help if he could. They grew used to it and paid it little mind since the druid brought nothing but help in their time of need. They did notice, however, that he was a bit odd and very quiet, since Dorno did not understand their ways and customs and did not want to give himself away. Dorno secretly hopes that some day he will be welcome in the village as his true self so that he can make new friends and be even more helpful, but he listens to Fenrik when he says it is not yet time for that.
*Fenrik could also be replaced with any PC that was willing to have a shared background.
***Oops, I now see that you posted the group while I had this open to write. No worries. Best of luck on the game and everyone have fun!***
sorry, but I had to draw the line somewhere. I really don't want to go over 6 PCs and I'm quite happy with the group I've put together. If somebody drops out along the way I will message you, because I do like Dorno a lot. It's really hard when there's so many players with good characters.
