Pespicacious' eyes go wide as the ghost ship emerges. "D..do...does everyone see that?"She asks, not really looking at anyone else to know their current state. She keeps her eyes focused on the ship for any signs of life, activity, or danger.
(Joja, mark one experience; I get to take a hard move)
Distracted as she is by the vision before her, Perspicacious fails to notice the dark tendril snake its way onto the deck. It is so soft, so slow, you also fail to notice it wrapping itself around your torso and your leg. You do notice as it squeezes like vice and hoists you effortlessly into the air.
Joja, take 1 harm! You are dangling upside down suspended by a cold, slimy something.
Garo, you snap awake! You and Elodin are on the deck, and Joja is just barely close enough to make out in the fog.
Jean/Garo snaps awake and the first thing s/he saw was Joja hanging from a tendril. Driven by her instincts to protect a friend and ally s/he drew her/his sword and attempted to slice through the tendril.
Fight: 12 Harm: 4 (3 base + 1 Legendary Swordsman)

Gordra sees Joja, wrapped up in something, disappearing into the thick fog. Two companions already missing, he's not losing a third. Gordra knows that fighting isn't an option for him, what could he do with his little stick? He'll need to draw on that flame again, the flame that burns down in the pits of his mind. He outstretches his hand as if grasping something in front of him. "STOP!"
Magic: 6
Effect: Briefly hold an object / target enemy against their will
Joja, the tentacle loosens just a fraction and freezes as though paralyzed. You all hear a gurgling, splashing screech in the water between you and the ghost ship. You have just a few moments in which to act!
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Perspicacious reacts on instinct, using the momentary release of the tentacles to escape, and scurry down the tentacles back to the deck of the ship (leaping if need be.)
With an eight, you leap clear of the tentacle, but you become tangled in the rigging of the Blessing's main sail.
Your unwanted attention is here, Elodin. Bursting from the water are five more tentacles. Two of them whip toward the elderly mouse. Two shrews and Keenwhistle, all still seemingly dead to the world, are snared by the other three.
Garo, you are in the middle of the deck within striking distance of the tentacles. As you awaken, you see standing across from you on the deck of the ghost ship is a spectral mouse. She is in full pirate attire, and she is staring at you, specifically. You hear an echo of Rowan's voice whisper, "Show no fear..."
Fight: 12 Harm: 4 (3 base + 1 Legendary Swordsman)
Hold: +1 to Harm
Jean, you slice through the tentacle that had held Joja like a hot knife through butter. Your momentum carries you forward in a spinning chop, severing a second slimy limb as it approached Keenwhistle. You notice the ghostly captain just as you complete your second attack.
Baobur steps forward and holds his arms up ahead of himself, glaring at the crab defiantly. Baobur's had a bad day. Now he's mad. (Protect: 9, Berserk: 5) He doesn't have the strength left to do much more than get pummeled into the dirt.
Baobur, you take 3 harm as the crab plows into you (and you take -1 ongoing until the fight is done- mark a box of experience!) Tevii: take 2 harm (This is a massive crab)-
The crab rears back, preparing to plunge a claw into your ribs, Baobur. Just then, you hear piercing whistle followed immediately by whoops and shouts. A small group of shrews wielding pitchforks, netting, and slings intercede and drive the crab to the edge of the clearing. Rushing up to you, straw hat held to his head, you see the father shrew you met on the path leaving Riverside just yesterday (God, that was only yesterday).
"Crimp me whiskers! Wottare yeh, outta yer heads?!" He looks down to a (once again) unconscious Baobur and, shocked, he turns to you, Tevii. "Help me ta get him up, then. Quick, Lad! Before that great beastie remembers how big he is!"
Amaruve floats in a dream. He watches through the eyes of another. Baobur acts as Amaruve would act. A respectable mouse to be sure. Amaruve doesn't feel powerless like in a dream, watching as the odds fall against him. It's more like he's imagining in detail the events of a well written book. He hopes the heroes prevail. He's invested in their story. He sees Baobur fall again. The wounds stacking up. The chances are slim, but a good story would have a climactic moment, just in time... But everything goes black. Baobur has been defeaten. Amaruve wants to will the mouse onward. He is destined for more! Give him a piece of yourself! He is a piece of yourself... A muffled sound. Voices discuss his fate. Who's fate? All is black and pain. Are we dead?

Cordelia helps Father Shrew pick up Baobur and try to carry him away to safety - away from the crab. She looks over her shoulder trying to get a sense of how she might be able to overcome this obstacle of a crustacean.
(Sense: 9, What is the best way to protect Baobur? as in, is there any way we could hide or anywhere we could hide?)

(oof, that's another move for me to take- mark experience!)
Tevii, the he-shrew takes the rear and tells you to keep a lookout for any more crabs. As you shoulder perhaps 20% of Baobur's weight (the rest managed by the large shrew), you fail to notice the sudden drop-off directly ahead of you. Your foot slips and your and Baobur tumble down the sudden slope. Babur lands heavily on top of you for 1 harm.
Additionally, you lose some time. There is more shouting behind you as the others farmers are pressed back by a newly emboldened crab.
Tevii, they're trapped between the crab and a log! You need to either use this opening to get away or help the shrews (and use one of those moves you've been waiting for!)
(Cordelia is going to die. Sorry gang, but HEROICS!)
Cordelia feels that weird mousey feeling stir her into action. The trip and crab hammer caused her quite a bit of harm, you could even say three harm, but she couldn't just let these shrews become a sacrifice for her escape. She looks to Father Shrew, "With luck, I'll be back."
She dashes toward the shrews, away from Father Shrew and the heavily injured Baobur. She shouts, "Come with me!"
(Come with me! Helping them escape if possible: 11)

Tevii, you completely surprise the crab. It jumps roughly 3 feetaway at your shout and quickly scuttles a safe distance away into the underbrush. It will undoubtedly recognize its error in a short while, but you take your opening to lead the contingent of farmers back to Baobur and get out of here. You see that there is a small cart (the same one the father shrew used to move his family out of Riverside) waiting on a small path just ahead of you. The shrews load up and hightail it out of the clearing.
(Are you a little surprised at your heroism? That could have gone VERY badly)
You are now traveling down the road with a mischief of shrews. Baobur is once again unconscious and needs seeing to- you aren't sure where you're heading, but you can always talk to the group
Jean sees the ghostly Captain and brandishes her sword, making a 'come get some' gesture at him.
(Actually, Jean brandishes her sword at her.)
The pirate continues to stare at you impassively, Jean. She makes a small gesture with her hand and the remaining tentacles move back, slithering into the water. With another gesture, all three of you can now see the full host of her ghostly crew as they get about the business of moving the drowned ship along. Finally, the pirate queen looks away, and the ship is swallowed up by the fog.
(Now applying Jean's hold for navigating the waters: You make it to your destination safely)
The fog clears in moments. Norn shakes himself and begins barking orders to the rest of the crew, all of whom are now returning to life. Keenwhistle looks around quickly, highly confused about what just happened. Fellori simply rushes to the railing to vomit once again.
Perspicacious fights her way out of netting, clawing and scrabbling for her life, determined to get the next tentacle before it got her. Panting, heart racing, she finally gets free and stands up with sword and dagger in hand, her eyes darting to the sides of the ship. Where, there is just the seas, and the crew working to bring the ship about. Not quite understanding, but now keenly aware of some of the odd stares from the crew, she stows her weapons, and straightens the collar of her shirt. She looks for Jean and Gordra, hoping against hope she hadn't been the only one that saw the ghost ship.
A muttered "That's right, you'd better run." was followed by Jean re-sheathing her blade. A wide yawn stretched her mouth, making Jean very aware her last two attempts at sleep were interrupted by nightmares, she dceided she'd stay awake a little longer to make sure nothing else popped up and then find somewhere nice and comfortable.
"Does anyone know how to close this wound?"Cordelia asks in a moment of peace. She looks from shrew to shrew for an answer. She thinks to herself. Does she still have her hook and string?

(You do, but it would be like sewing a wound shut with rope and a harpoon. At any rate, Baobur's most recent injuries are more along the lines of blunt force trauma.)
Obviously curious about who you are and excited about their battle with the crab, one of the other shrews speaks to you. "Don't be getting those big flapping ears in a knot, young guardmouse. We're spittin' close to the Abbey Redstone at Viper Lake. Brother Ollis can restore you."
